About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for creative cocktails
  • Hot spot
Sink your teeth into Rare Society - a modern homage to the golden age of the American steakhouse. Chef and owner Brad Wise reimagines vintage upscale dining with a bold, contemporary edge: a wood-fired grill fueled by red oak, an in-house dry-aging program, sustainably sourced seafood, and a progressive cocktail menu that nods to the classics while pushing boundaries. The space hums with energy - smoke curling from the grill, the scent of fire and flavor wafting through the air. It’s easy to picture a Rat Pack-era dinner party in full swing: elegant, indulgent, just a little unruly. Rare Society doesn’t just pay tribute to steakhouse tradition - it revives it, reinvents it, and serves it with just a little bit of swagger.

Food was delicious, servers were great and attentive even though they were short staffed our service was great. The only thing that I will suggest is that the rare society website update the parking situation, it wasn’t until we got there that we had to deal with it, the parking lot in the back is very small so if you find a spot you are lucky, we didn’t find any so we went to the front expecting the other parking lot that was empty to be okay but that parking lot ended being the next door restaurant parking lot so we had to go find parking at the train station after asking the host were else could we park. It took us 15-20 minutes to end up parking, it would be helpful to list that on the website. Also I didn’t see online that the reservations for dinner start at 5 and if you get there a couple minutes early you have to go to the bar until 5 in the dot, I don’t really mind but I think these details should be listed on the website. Everything else was amazing!

Great food, but rather expensive. They had some gluten-free options. The best was lobster mash.

great dinner and great service ! thank you we had such a great time celebrating my birthday. We ordered so many things. Our favorite was the grilled artichoke and the desserts were phenomenal. We ordered three different kinds! We ordered the banana fosters cheesecake, the crème brûlée, and also had the yummy butter cake. The steaks were delicious and the shrimp scampi was amazing! We look forward to coming back.

We really wanted to love this place. I own a business downtown SB and I’ve been wanting to check this place out for months. Finally did and was unfortunately disappointed. The decor is cool, very 1920s steak house reminded me a little of Born & Raised, but the food was not good. This may be one of the first negative reviews I’ve ever had to leave, I’m not overly picky. Everything we ordered was charred and waaay too salty. I couldn’t take bite without following with half a glass of water. The salmon was unevenly cooked and made my boyfriend sick. Overall great concept, just unfortunately not great food, especially for a $250+ price tag.

Truly solid and delicious meal. Great wedge salad ask for the dressing and blue cheese on side. Wife had the filet which was perfectly cooked. I had the Australian wagyu filet which unfortunately was too fatty for me. They nicely took it off the bill. Broccolini, potato and onion ring were all a 10/10. Dessert were also 10/10 order the Butter cake and the amazing Bananas foster cheesecake!

We are locals and come here often for birthdays. Steak and sides are excellent. We always order the "Executive Board" so that we can taste a little of different types of steaks. I would probably not order the Tri Tip addition next time (we ordered to supplement the Board), this cut was a little chewy compared to their other cuts. Caesar salad is really good; I suggest getting the dressing on the side as it's a little heavily dressed. Other sides that we enjoyed were the bread rolls, creamed spinach, mushrooms and mac and cheese. All very tasty.
