    Our server, Jessica, was very friendly and very helpful in consulting with the chef about my many food allergies. Despite modifications, the paella will still delicious! The oysters are always good here. One of our favorite restaurants.

    We have long enjoyed Merroir so we're disappointed at this current iteration of Rappahannock. First, no beer. Seems like a small thing, but there's that. I get that the draft lines were broken, but how can you not have cans or bottles? The mixed drink I got instead was weak. Service was slow and inattentive. Hard to say whether we'll return or not. Unfortunate.

    We definitely enjoyed our time at Rappahannock! The oysters, seafood entrees, and cocktails we ordered were very good! The cocktail service was a bit slow, but I think they may have been dealing with a busier restaurant than usual for a Sunday evening. The dessert was fine, but not on par with the entrees, and that’s okay. Their primary fare was very enjoyable!

    We popped in after a three year interval. The food is still great, the ambience so so, but excellent service. I tried the brisket pierogis which was a special of the day and loved them. We both just had the appetizers and both really enjoyed the walnut salad. My wife also had the wood-grilled octopus and was disappointed that it was cold. Wine by the glass was limited. We would certainly go back again.

    We tried three different small plates. They were all great. My wife and I split the whole red snapper. It was delicious. My friend got the rabbit and loved it. We will definitely be back.

    Our dinner was delish. we got the rabbit entree and whole fish (red snapper) entree. The only reason for 4 star vs 5 was because it didnt seem like their kitchen exhaust was working well. It was pretty smokey in the restaurant. Left with clothes and hair smokey

    Fabulous dinner last night! We loved the baked oysters and can’t say enough good things about the whole red snapper. Delicious! The staff was welcoming and helped us adjust the time coming in from work before a show at Brown’s Island.

    Fantastic oysters and perfectly cooked swordfish made for a great meal. The surprise was the Olive Oil cake with pistachios dessert. One of the best desserts I have ever had!

    My family and I dined here for dinner and everything was wonderful. Our drinks were great, we had most of their small plates and appetizers which were all amazing. This is one of the best dining experiences and we dine out often!! We will definitely be back.

    Sadly, the service standard at the front end was so poor we left without eating. I have been here a few times before and had a decent experience. They were clearly understaffed, no one at the host stand to greet for about 10 min. bartender waived and said someone would be there. decided to sit at the bar where same bartender couldn't get to me in 10 minutes. IN her defense she became swamped all at once. There was some smoke throughout the place. I finally got up and left without an acknowledgment beyond the glass of water that took ten minutes. I assumed that was a sign of the balance of the evening here. too bad, I generally have liked it here.

    Has been a long while since I have been here. I did not remember enjoying it the last time, because of the small portions and the very distinctly short and unique menu. This time was no different. The best parts of our meal were the cocktails and our server. We had scallops and the duck. It was okay. I think it is just too eclectic for us. The greens served with our meals were delicious though. I do wish they had a beef (other than a burger) or chicken option on the menu. We love seafood but the offering was just not to our taste.  The worst part was the smoke from the open kitchen. Watching the cooks prepare the food does not help with the ambience of a nice meal. There was so much smoke in the restaurant they had to open the front door. We smelled terrible leaving there in our nice clothes after just having showered. We will not be going back unfortunately.

    Strange, expensive, limited and not particularly enticing menu selections. The “seafood tower” appetizer which contained ceviche, among other things, was $75/$115. About five entrees, total, to choose from. I ordered scallops and got 3 average tasting ones for $30+ served with an overly sauced grain of some sort. The fish special was $35, the size of a deck of cards, average tasting, and dwarfed on a huge plate with a colorless side. Asked for a surprise birthday dessert for my husband and never got it. Ordered our own desserts and the only thing tasty was the house cookie with ice cream. Nothing comforting or tasty about this restaurant. Skip it. SO disappointed.

    The food was great, as was the service. We ordered a dozen oysters, grilled octopus (with rutabaga), and whole grilled branzino for my husband's birthday dinner. The experience was wonderful and reminded us that we need to return more often.

    Need to expand their menu and offer more selections. Also the restaurant is smokey and has been like the last two times I have been there. Keep wanting to look be this place but just can’t get there.

    We had heard great things and had high hopes for Rappahannock and are sad to say we won’t be coming back because the food was so variable and half of what we ordered was not good. We ordered the grilled octopus and lox & everything appetizers. The octopus was good, though the pickled green beans served with it were too acidic. The lox was really disappointing — the amount of lox served was insufficient and there were tiny pieces sprinkled on the dish. We were also expecting more everything bagel seasoning and it just wasn’t there. And it said it was served with whipped feta but it tasted like whipped cream cheese. I ordered the scallops for my entree and my partner ordered the pan seared fish, which was mahi. His dish was good and had nice flavors. I was really excited about the scallop dish because it was served with a coconut spinach saag and spiced rice — I love Indian food and spinach saag is one of my favorites. My scallops were well cooked and delicious but the saag was awful. It was so overpoweringly bitter that I couldn’t eat it. I was so disappointed. So, I just had the 3 scallops and some of the rice it was served with. We skipped dessert because we worried it would be another miss.

    I was disappointed by the menu. Kind of eclectic so your mileage may vary. The baked oysters were great, however. There was only one meat small plate offering, Steak Tar Tare. I'd never tried it before and it was absolutely (for me) awful! Again, others might like it but I'm skeptical. The wine list could have offered more California wine selections, particularly Chardonnay. The service was outstanding as was the staff who greeted us when we arrived. I just wasn't into this kind of unusual food offerings. I'd like to have seen more varied seafood offerings. Perhaps steamed or broiled shrimp. Fried oysters, soups like she crab or lobster bisque? Again, too eclectic for me and I'm one who can be adventurous. I'd go back here for the oysters but, sadly, none of the other offerings. I feel bad having to leave this review as the servers and staff were top notch.

    The food was excellent and a great value for a special occasion outing like we had. However, the service was average (had to flag down someone a couple of times while our waitress was chatting up a table for a while), and the smoke that filled the place from the wood-fired grill was terrible. My eyes were literally burning and watering constantly by the time we left. We all exclaimed “Fresh air” when we got outside! Really would encourage them to improve the ventilation from the indoor grill for the health of their staff too!
