   Dinner at Rappahanock is an event, and tonight was especially rewarding. We started with a variety of oysters that ranged from. Mild and meaty Rappahanock River Oysters to briny Outer Banks oysters, served with tangy mignonette sauce to ore familiar sharp cocktail sauce. My husband enjoyed perfectly cooked salmon while I indulged my taste for more fish prepared as ceviche in a bright mixture of sharp citrus juices. Our waiter was just delightful and she looked so much like a delicate smaller version of Xena, Warrior Princess. We had a table for two at a window with a view of a peaceful Richmond street; there was a fair amount of noise but we set our hearing aids to restaurant mode and ignored the racket. Great advantage to age related hearing loss! The meal ended with a succulent Little Gem lettuce salad with a delightful Buttermilk dressing. (One of our cats is named Buttermilk) Rappahanock is one of our favorite places to eat in Richmond, and it's a marvelous half hour walk from our hotel in Shockoe Slip through the Capitol grounds, with a visit to the Women's Memorial Sculpture garden on the way.

   My scallops were delicious. I’ve never complimented cauliflower before, but the cauliflower in that dish was excellent. I recommend this place to everyone coming through Richmond

   This restaurant has made one helluva comeback! There was a slump somewhere around the pandemic but the last year has been stellar! Big shout out to the kitchen for a great tasting meal, Ray for her attentive & personable service, & to the GM, Lily, who always remembers us & for her support with attention to every detail. Well done!

   It has been several years since we have been to Richmond, but we looked forward to visiting one of our favorite restaurants and Rappahannock did not disappoint. The Branzino was one of the best fish dishes we have ever eaten ( and we eat fish 2-3 times a week!). The whole fish was topped attractively with fresh peas, sugar peas, cucumber and tahini yogurt sauce. It was not only beautiful, but done to perfection. All of the oysters offered ( sting ray, old salty and Rappahannock) were excellent. The scallops and wedge salad were very good as well. Alas we were too full for dessert. Our waitress, Ray, was helpful, delightful, there when we needed her to be but not intrusive. In our opinion this is the best restaurant in Richmond.

   Outstanding food and service-- from the rockfish entree with broiled carrots to the sorbet for dessert. I'll be back the next time I'm in Richmond!

    Our first time there and it did not disappoint. Drinks were excellent and food was to die for. Noise level was higher than I expected, however my wife and I were able to carry a conversation easily. Service was prompt and friendly. Will definitely come back for more oysters.
