Very nice location, menu, food, music, customer service. The managers and team are all kind and friendly, looking after the customers with details and professionalism. I am vegan, and I was delighted by the choices provided for me. I will recommend the restaurant to everyone.
Fantastic restaurant. Have eaten at most of the east coast spots and are all excellent. Can not wait to try LA in December. Keep up the great job.
Drive in from Chattanooga TN and this is always our go to spot for exceptional dining experiences. Fantastic drinks, attention, and service. The oysters are great. Executive Chef Kevin Kelly really has it going on with his culinary delights.
The location is very cool, we received a very warm welcome, and our waitress was pleasant. We were seated at a table right by the kitchen, which at first seemed ok but took away from the ambiance. It was very loud. The food was great though. We sampled each of the selection of oysters, and decided that the Olde Salt Oysters were our favorite. I ordered the steamed clams entree and my husband ordered the whole grilled fish (snapper). The clams were nice, the broth was flavorful. The grilled fish was wonderful.
Great oysters, marvelous barista and cocktails and good service
Met my daughter there for dinner. Great atmosphere. Service and food was great. I will definitely be eating here on future visits to Charleston.
Ashley provided some of the best service we have ever received at a restaurant. She was thorough and deliberate in her description of menu choices, thoughtful and kind in her service, and went over the top in providing answers to our questions concerning other featured restaurants in the area.
Food was amazing and quickly served! Highly recommend. We will be back!
The scallop appetizer was incredible. Oysters were very good. The shrimp and grits were not typical Charleston shrimp and grits. I'm not sure what they put on the shrimp, but they were black (not blackened)...easily the best shrimp and grits we've ever had. Also, the waitress warned us that it wasn't normal shrimp and grits. Everything we ordered was awesome.
Just ok. Hostess was Luke warm, Service so-so, food was ok. Nothing great here.
Blown away at everything about the is place! Can’t wait to come back!
I had been to the original restaurant in DC and was very impressed with the food, service and ambience. I was in Charleston on business and was pleasantly surprised that they had opened one in the city. I was blown away by their Snapper Tartare with yuzu reduction. All you ceviche fanatics will relish this dish. Their version of yuzu is awesome. Going to try to make it when I get home
Best place in town for oysters. Great fish and chips. Excellent bloody Marys. Out of the hustle of right downtown.
Food was fantastic. We just did a variety of appetizers and each one was better than the next. Had a variety of oysters including delicious grilled ones in jalapeño butter. The mussels were perfect and the bread flight was just what we needed to mop up the sauce from the mussels. The service was friendly and fun. It was the best food on our trip so far.
The oysters were good, but took forever. We ordered an oyster po boy and they got the order wrong. We had to wait for a new sandwich. The po boy only had four small oysters, the bread was like a hot dog bun. They did not offer a discount or anything for the mistake. Would only recommend for oysters.
Great ambiance and fun oyster and seafood bar
Excellent choice for seafood in downtown Charleston, an easy mile drive up East Bay. Parking is plentiful.
Food was very good.
Enjoyed the experience.
Great staff! Very attentive. I wish the menu was broader. Table took longer to get. Drinks were great! Oysters were phenomenal!
Good and setting was amazing. Lots of fun.
Made reservations last minute (got lucky, I tried to change the time later and it was impossible). The tables outside are comfortable and appropriately spaced on the sidewalk. Parking lot view, but still nice and cozy. Inside was full because of the last minute reservation - but we peaked in on arrival, and it was lively with a nice, laid back, busy bistro ambiance. Service was great, helpful and patient as we were waiting for the last person to arrive, good wine list, full bar, and the oysters were really good (they had 3 on the menu and 3 "visitors" so large choice of provenance). We ordered the shrimp and grits, which was done very differently, with a black garlic sauce, and it was stunning. Very different flavor profile for this classic dish that you find everywhere on the menu in Charleston; might not be for the purists, but I loved it, and I would be back solely for this dish if nothing else, however, the other dishes were really good too. The others were classics: flounder milanese, perfectly executed with a citrusy green salad on the side, and a red fish, very simply made, with a vichyssoise and potatoes, also perfectly cooked, letting the fish shine, not overdone nor overcrowded, almost like a papillote fish. Dessert was good (especially the cheesecake, even though I am not a cheesecake person, but it was really good), but the place really shines through its seafood. We will definitely be back.
The oysters were not that impressive. The bread flight, however, was VERY good. The service was not good at all - the waiter absolutely lost his mind when we asked to keep the menus, so we could perhaps get something additional. Did not tell us about the special, which we overheard at another table, and we would have gotten. We would have stayed, and spent about 4 times what we did, had the service been better.
Anthony was our waiter-he was fun, fast and attentive. We will come back soon
We love going here for our oyster fix! The bartenders and staff and always friendly and the oysters are always outstanding!
Good food and drinks. Would definitely recommend.
This place was a recommendation from our Uber driver the night before and he was spot on. Great food and atmosphere, can’t go wrong with the oysters, they had a number of varieties which we had to try all of them. Also have some great fresh seafood if oysters aren’t your thing. Our service was excellent, the server was attentive but also knowledgeable of all the menu items. Great experience.
Outstanding experience! Food was delicious, wine recommendations were on the mark and the service was fantastic! Get the shrimp and grits!
Loved this place. Great oysters, fish Milanese was terrific as was dessert. Excellent service.
Amazing black garlic shrimp and grits - live changing!! The baked scallops were also delicious. Highly recommend!!
Great place for different types of Oysters! Enjoyed eating mussels and the fish tartar!
Originally was looking more downtown but glad I expanded my search area. Food and drinks where fantastic and it helps they have their own parking lot.
This is my new favorite place to go when visiting Charleston.
Very good experience! Great food, great service, great atmosphere! (The only odd part was there isn’t an official hostess stand, there was just a guy standing at the bar with his back to the door & didn’t notice when people actually entered the restaurant…. so originally we thought we entered through the wrong door & weren’t sure where to go.)
Everything about Rappahannock Oyster Co is AMAZING! From the convenient parking (right at the front door!) to the energy and ambiance of the space to the service and food…you simply can not go wrong.
It’s warm and inviting, yet energetic and social vibe makes for a perfect evening of dining on oysters. Their cocktails are great, as well. For a real treat, the whole fish is always a win. Beautifully presented and filleted table side. Happy hour (until 7pm) has some great small plates. Of course, the oysters are the main attraction…my personal favorite, Olde Salt - 2 dozen. Oh yeah, the fish bites (battered and fried assorted fish pieces) and the mussels — are to die for! Oh my. I could go on and on. Just get yourself a French 75 cocktail and try a few things…that’s how I roll at Rappahannock!
Management and staff are warm and friendly and truly appreciate their customers. This place can easily become my new habit!
Everything was superb. Oysters were excellent. Great find in Charleston. Definitely recommend it.
Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend the oysters and shrimp.
Great food and service
Dinner at the bar - food was excellent, oysters super fresh!
The oysters are fresh and had a very subtle flavor.
An absolute home run experience! Bar-none best shrimp dish we have ever had (shrimp and grits). Servers were very friendly. Andrew makes you feel like you are a regular customer or family. Highly recommend!! A complete gem!
Fantastic food will return
Great atmosphere with delicious seafood.
