Love the food here. Always enjoy the tea leaf salad and the sesame beef . I had a grand aunt who was Burmese and the Burmese beef curry reminds me of hers.
The food, our server Eric, and our overall experience was excellent. Highly recommend.
Very good meal, as usual. We love the tea leaf salad - always good. In addition, we had the mango swai and the lemongrass chicken, which were both delicious. Service was good, and the ambiance is nice.
Very tasty food, excellent atmosphere and pleasant ambience
Order the calmari appetizer and the shrimp with eggplant
Excellent food. Super nice staff. Service a teeny bit slow, but attentive and nice.
Met two friends for out of state and they were very pleased. Especially liked the tea leaves salad (specialty). Noodles were good. Whiskey sour was good also. The noise level increased as the restaurant filled after 7:00pm. Parking was a bit of a challenge. Would certainly return.
Great food, bad attitude from maitre’d and apathetic outlook from server. Who do these people think they are?
Just an all around great experience! Next time in the Bay Area, it will be a “must do”.
The food -- there were four of us and all hungry -- covered a spectrum from very good to amazing. The starters, esepcailly the salads, were more impressive than the main courses, but that seems to have become the new norm in California restaurants. The wines were way expensive but at least of appropriate quality. It was the crowding of the tables and the conversation-killing noise that disappointed me. Why must gourmet dining be victimized by shrill whoopee and (ugh!) background music? I'm sick of loud restaurants! Most of the civilized world does without what Open Table coyly calls "energetic" noise levels. Why can't America learn table manners? Or rather, why can't restauranteurs have a little mercy with table spacing?
Seems overrated. Even the "spicy" dishes were somehow bland and over-salted at the same time. The cocktail was good but took forever to be served. Best thing is the tea leaf salad, which is worth trying.
If you're going to the movies at the Aquarius Theater right across the street, this is a very convenient place to dine beforehand. The food is excellent, the menu varied, the service excellent. The prices are about average for Palo Alto ... in the mid-range. My only gripe is that it's a small place and they try to cram as many customers in as possible. The tables are so close you can barely move... but other than that, not a bad choice for a pre-movie dinner.
Nice variety of options for GF dining, and the server took care to communicate to the kitchen our needs - as one diner had celiac disease. Our food was delicious and our food sensor test always indicated that food was GF. The service was excellent all around. A nice dining experience
Customer service can greatly improved, often rude!
Great food; excellent service (didn't have to ask for water refill once); very accommodating of our needs. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, excellent & attentive service. Always a great time at Rangoon Ruby.
The food and drinks are always great here. It's a bit loud on a Friday night, weekdays are usually better.
Great and attentive service. Food was okay.
Excellent food, very nice Valentines Day menu. Staff were especially helpful and went our of their way to explain ingredients as well as wine pairings.
Great food as always. Love the variety of flavors on the menu
We like this place and it's sister restaurant on University in Palo Alto.
One downside: this is the second time we've been here when the food comes way too fast.
We came here with another couple to enjoy the interesting dishes (like the tea leaf salad) and to catch up with old friends. But the meal felt too rushed.
Just love this place. The food is so unique and awesome!
Excellent array of dishes--the appetizers were as delicious as the main courses. Our server was especially attentive, personable, and efficient.
Authentic Burmese food and particularly their tea-leaf salad.
The food is always delicious - especially the coconut noodle soup and the mango salad. Yum! Other favorites are the coconut sticky rice, pumpkin and salmon stew, and green beans. Their bar drinks are also really good. A great place for a delicious meal and a fun night out.
Fantastic food as always. We keep getting more friends to this place as we love the food here!!
As always the fermented tea leaf salad was the highlight of the meal, but the mango chicken was also quite delicious!
It was Christmas Eve and very busy and crowded. Lots of families. Everyone was celebrating. Beautiful to see such happiness. It was like a big party. Food and service was excellent!!
Return again and again
Very tasty and interesting! We come to this restaurant and their sister restaurant on University Ave (Palo Alto) somewhat frequently. In the past we felt very rushed here, but the service this time was MUCH better. Attentive, prompt, but not at all rushed.
Everything was good! The salads, appetizers, entrees. All sharable and interesting.
Extensive wine list and cocktail list, and they also made several other cocktails not on the cocktail menu.
I loved all of their non-meat options, including many tasty tofu dishes.
The food is good but they do not know what they are doing. Forgot the tomatos in the salad. Only put 4 shrimp in Pad Tai when there are supposed to be 6. You need to get your act together as when done right the food is good.
We were greeted and seated right away. Our table was off of the main entrance and there was a cold draft but upon mention, the host closed the door. Server was quick, very attentive and the food came in no time. My friends who have never been to this restaurant were very impressed. Food was delish as always. We had the green tea salad, chicken crisp, beef basil, shrimp walnut and shrimp curry. Tons of food for the four of us. Can't wait to go back!
Tables are way too close together, hard to talk, hard to hear...really uncomfortable.
Birthday, the waitress was really nice but the remaining folks bringing in food from inside were rude and unfriendly.
I really loved the food here, the only thing is that it was my our first time there, and we would've loved that our waiter had mentioned that plates are big and good for sharing, we had so many left-overs, but apart from that everything was super good!
We had the tea leaf salad, nan gyi dok, and the lamb curry which was recommended by our server. All were delicious! In my opinion, worth coming here over Burma Superstar as there is no wait and they take reservations.
Amazing flavors! This is a find. The selections and diversity is perfection. From the tea salad, Calamari appitizer's, Coconut rice, and diversity of fish, chicken and meat dishes, this is a winner!
Was eager to check this restaurant out based on reviews. My greatest complaint is that the entries were lukewarm at best and one had cold chicken mixed in with warm - unpleasant. The noodles were over cooked, as well. Though table side presentation was very nice. Just ok for two @ $100, could have done better elsewhere
We always have the tea leaf salad to share, so tasty! And also the pumpkin shrimp. Service is very quick. Will definitely go back when in Palo Alto
Overall very good. Service was a bit slow and in attentive.
