We have been eating at Ralph’s, several times a year, for more than 20 years. The last two times that we dined there, we were very disappointed. The red sauce does not taste the same. The veal parmigiana and chicken parmigiana, that we had the last time we were there, were both tough. Last night, the sausage and peppers was not of the quality we gave come to expect from Ralph’s. My meatballs and spaghetti was a disappointment. We don’t plan to return and this makes us very sad. We have celebrated many special occasions there.
Great classic Italian food! Had the veal with eggplant, prosciutto, etc. and it was a great combination. The lasagna was excellent as well
Superb classic Italian restaurant just as you would expect in Philadelphia. Ralph's is the oldest Italian restaurant in the country. Terrific experience. Negatives? House Chianti way too sweet. Deserts just meh!
Great food, great service! We had the Chicken Parm and Penne Vodka pasta. Both delicious and the biggest Chicken Parm I've seen!
The food and service were excellent as always. However, whereas our entrees used to include a free side dish of pasta or vegetables, Ralph's is now charging extra for the side dishes. This is making the dining experience more pricey than we would like.
Dinner after Philadelphia Orchestra performance. Always wonderful.
We went there before heading to see Pretty Woman the musical. The mussels in red are amazing, and the marinara is bread dipping delicious! The wait staff and bus boys were very knowledgeable and attentive. My water glass was never empty. The chicken parm was perfect and the portions were large, so
much so that we all took some home. The coffee and pizzelle gelato icecream sandwiches and spomoni were a nice sweet ending to a very enjoyable meal. The only downside are the tables are so close and some other patrons can be in your business.
Always delicious!! Been coming here for 24 years and it never disappoints!
Amazing!!!! Best Ralph’s experience we’ve ever had. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. I got the chicken rollatine and my husband got the lasagna!!! Highly recommend
Had a great NYE at Ralph’s. We ordered mussels with red sauce, chicken parm, and shrimp with penne vodka sauce. Will defiantly be back! Service was great.
Once again overall experience and food were OFF THE CHARTS!!
Food was great and so was the service would definitely recommend it
The sauteed escarole and PEI mussels were the best I ever had !
Ralph's Cuisine reminded me of my Italian GrandMa's Homemade Cooking !Looking forward to trying More From Ralph's Menu on our next Trip to Philly.
What's not to like about Ralph's? You are treated like a family member upon arrival until departure. The staff is friendly and helpful. The house wine was a good value. The four of us all had chicken entrees, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed them. I ordered what I always order, the chicken parm. What more is there to say? It is the best!
Great, old school, “red sauce” Italian place. You literally can’t go wrong on the menu. Best enjoyed with family and friends. Excellent service. Reservations go quickly!
Our waiter was so rude. Slammed the drinks on the table. Just trying to have a nice dinner with my family. Won't be back!
For the price you’d expect a little more. I love Italian food but this was nothing to brag about. The a la carte style makes no sense and not worth the value.
Everything was excellent! Best veil parmesan I've had to date.
Great, real Italian food, South Philly style. Fun atmosphere
Christmas Eve dinner with my love. Of course we choose Ralph’s. It’s the best and definitely one of our favorite places.
As always the food was amazing… such a beautiful experience to dine with you absolutely every time…
Best Italian food we've had in a long time. Service was outstanding and the atmosphere was cozy and comforting
First time and won’t be the last time! Amazed that they had valet gentleman marc greeted us upon arrival even opened door for my wife which was great! Host Jb was great seating us and told us a lot of history of the restaurant. Our server Anthony gave specific details to the menu and what the most popular items were .
Mussels Calamari antipasto and Veal Capp and Veal Parm great choices. Don’t forget to get there homemade cannolis best I’ve ever had!!!!
The food was delicious specially the meatball appetizer and the veal parm
we always eat here when in Philly. still a great place with great value. maybe just a little too saucy, forgot to ask them to go light on the sauce. otherwise very good. well go again
The joy of having Italian food in an old historic setting.
Been going to Ralph’s for over 30 years and have always had an excellent meal. We moved to Florida 17 years ago and we always visit Ralph’s when come up to the Philadelphia area. Highly recommend the mussels and essentially anything on the menu. Our favorites are the veal parmigiana and the chicken Sorrento.
The food was great . The history is amazing . Anthony our sever was was very helpful and courteous.
This was our first time dining at Ralph's since COVID and the restaurant was as pleasant as ever. Food and service were both good. We were afraid that it might be too crowded but it was not.
Excellent on all levels. The best as usual
The best dining experience in South Philly by far
I had higher expectations from all of the positive reviews and knew to expect "old school Italian". Just didn't get it. The atmosphere and history of the place were all fine. We got seated upstairs and service was attentive, but not special in any way. We ordered the Bruschetta and Calamari for apps. The waiter warned us it was not fried Calamari, but rather sauteed in red sauce. That would be fine, but a few grey Calamari rings surrounded by red sauce was disappointing. The Bruschetta was just ok. Spaghetti and meatballs was probably the best thing on the table. Linguini and clams we're fine, but sauce was very thin and again just OK. The Penne with Vodka sauce and shrimp was fine, but gnocchi (with blush sauce) were like store bought and something I would expect for m a second rate diner. Sorry, just can't back up the 4.4 Stars this place has on OT. I will say both desserts we got were very good.
Holiday family get together
We wanted to try out Ralphs to experience "the oldest Italian restaurant in the US". Knew what to expect in terms of ambience - had higher hopes for the food.
The "calamari" was horrible - do not recommend. Other food was pass-able but not awesome. Waiter was rushed and as such we did not get what we had expected. It was a very price-y dinner - but all in all we are glad we went.
We arrived, in the rain, 12:40 for a 1 pm lunch. Rang the bell and asked that we wait, out of the rain, in the hallway until the restaurant opened 20 minutes later. A manager refused and made us wait outside for 20 minutes until the restaurant opened.
Unfortunately that lack of understanding put a damp cloth on our lunch experience together with less than 2 feet distance between tables.
We have been coming to Ralph’s for over 30 years and always looked forward to the mussels white. The last 2 times they have been very disappointing. The sauce is too watery. You should go back to the classic Ralph’s recipe including more olive oil. Clams white and chicken sorento were great.
Ralph’s has been a family favorite ever since I can remember. We know it’s not only reliable but just amazing Italian food all around.
Ralph's Italian is one of Philadelphia's treasures. The food, the atmosphere and the charm is beyond compare. Don't ever change.
The food and staff at Ralph’s are always great. Don’t miss out on the veal parm and mussel red!
Sadly, only one gluten free dish I could order. Chicken (not veal) chicken parm. It was incredibly bland and tasteless. Gluten free does not mean without seasoning. My sonsbb CNN penne vodka was also tasteless. Meanwhile my husbands veal piccata was outstanding. Noise level on second floor terrible. Server wore mask below his nose.
We had heard great reviews about Ralphs but it was beyond our expectations. Everything was fantastic. We already started telling our Family and friends that Ralphs is a definite hit.
