Friendly, caring staff who strive to make your dining experience pleasant. Entrees were all tasty (eggplant parmigiana, veal piccata, chicken Marsala, and seafood spaghetti) and portions are good sized. We hadn’t been there in many years but decided to go back while visiting the flower show. Glad we did!
We loved it - good food, fun atmosphere. Just what we wanted
Wait staff was personal and always ready to fill the water glasses. Food was delivered hot and delicious! We are planning our next visit to Ralph's soon!
Always an amazing experience and best place in the city
Good was delicious, service was a little slower than I would have expected on a Saturday but the server was really nice and accommodating.
The food was outstanding! Our server Frank, was very attentive in a busy Friday night. Easy to understand how this restaurant has thrived for so long!
Portions were plentiful but taste was missing. Marinara sauce was watery and missing tomatoes and texture.
Mozzarella appetizer served cold with an oversupply of red pepper slices.
Meatball appetizer was good, as was the tartufo dessert.
Generally speaking the food was undistinguished. Server did ask several times if everything was ok, which was good, but didn't seem to anticipate basic needs of diners.
Service was slow and we had to keep asking for water.
Mozzarella served cold
Great place to eat and enjoy with friends.
Love going to a neighborhood Italian restaurant whose roots are deep. The food never disappoints. Peter our waiter was terrific!! He was fun, helpful and very attentive!
We had a great time and left full and satisfied
Ralph’s is the best! Good old school Italian food with a staff that treats you like family.
Loved Ralphs. We ordered app., dinner, dessert. Would have like to had a little more time between courses.
This was my first time at Ralph's, but my wife, having grown up in the city, had been there many times before, but not for about 15 years. I really liked the atmosphere, but everything else wasn't good enough for me to ever go back. Our server was very off putting. He was contently rushing us to order and wasn't very attentive after we received our order. He charged us for 2 drinks, even though we only ordered 1. He did bring 2, but that was because he said he wasn't sure it we wanted 1 or 2. My daughter drank both, but since it was just iced tea, there wouldn't have been a charge for a refill anyway. I also went about 10 minutes without getting my water refilled after my meal was dropped off.
The food was just ok. We got the calamari as an appetizer and it was ok, but the red sauce it was in was very bland. I asked if this was the same sauce they use for the spaghetti my daughter ordered and the server said it wasn't and that the other sauce was much better. If that is the case, I don't understand why that sauce wasn't used for the calamari. The rest of the meals were nothing special, certainly not what I expected from "the Oldest Italian Restaurant in America".
Lastly, we were out for dinner for both mine and my wife's birthday. I noted that on Open Table and it wasn't even acknowledged by the server. It's not that I wanted anything for our birthdays, but any other time I was ever noted a special occasion on Open Table, the restaurant usually says something. Even if it's just a happy birthday, it's a nice touch.
Only issue was valet was late and we drove around for 40 minutes looking for a parking space.
Service was a little slow, staff were friendly. The red sauce with the chicken scallopini was a little watery and the chicken breast could have been more tender.
We had been excited to try Ralph's because it has a great reputation and has been around forever. Unfortunately, our meal was disappointing.
My husband's chicken parm was rubbery, and my pasta had potential, but the sauce broke so it was nearly inedibly oily. The meatball appetizer was delicious, especially the sauce.
Service was very slow, especially at the beginning and end of the meal - we waited a very long time after eating for someone to check on us, and then again at least 10 - 15 minutes for our check.
Philly has a great Italian American food scene, and this may be the oldest, but I would recommend trying a smaller spot that can put more focus on each table/dish.
Happy to bring out of town family to our favorite Italian restaurant! Ralph’s never disappoints!
It was a great experience. Food was excellent. Staff was very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We will be back.
Seldom do I want Italian food, but Ralph's is a must. I always order the eggplant parmesan and am never disappointed. Plus, they have Tartufo on the dessert menu!
Our first time there. Great food, service was great and so friendly and helpful with questions about the menu and atmosphere was amazing. We can’t wait to go back and bring our friends there.
Love the old school! You have to have the canoli cake for dessert!
Awesome experience- fabulous food and excellent service. We will be back!
Love ralph’s. Family owned for generations. Great home cooked meals. Love what they do- make home made Italian dishes making you feel like you are home eating. Obvious to us there were issues with servers and staffing. Likely due to COVID. Did not impact
Our enjoyment of meal at all.
Best item on the menu is Chicken Sicilian!! Hands down!
We had a wonderful meal at Ralph’s. They have many outdoor tables that we hope will be permanent part of this iconic Italian restaurant.
Our food was delicious, wonderfully prepared and served. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The early summer breezes added a special touch to our experience.
Warm greeting upon arrival from Lauren and Pete our server was very nice and provided excellent suggestions for the restaurants most popular dishes.
My favorite Italian Restaurant. The Veal Rollatine is my absolute favorite meal. My wife had the Veal Sorrento that was an excellent choice. They make a great clams casino appetizer like none other I’ve had.
This was a very fun evening. This place came recommended to my friend and I as it was our first visit. The place is just so cool with all its nostalgia. Food was delicious. I had the pasta pescatore which was loaded with seafood, shrimp, crab, mussels so good! My friend had a shrimp pasta dish that had a light cream sauce which she thought was delicious. The service was excellent and I would come back in a heart beat.
Enjoyed everything. Seafood Linguini- BEST COOKED SEAFOOD EVER!
Amazing! The only complaint is the outside table was slanted .
Everything was excellent. Food and service were outstanding!
Great dining experience! I would definitely recommend this place to everyone.
This entire experience, from food to service to ambiance, is second to none.
Phenomenal traditional Italian food.
First time there and can’t wait to go back. Sat outside so can’t really eat the ambiance of the place as I only saw inside of restaurant for a couple minutes when I signed. Food was delicious.
The food and service was very good overall. I ordered the flounder francaise and it wasn’t great, It definitely needed salt. Everything is well was really good.
Great place to take family and friends.
My fiance and I took my mother-in- law there for Mother's Day.
Can't wait to go again!
I ordered the chicken florentine. The food here is always fresh and the quality of poultry is supreme. My mother said the veal was delicious also!
Our daughter was turning 13 and has been asking to go to Ralph’s, so we made reservations for the big day. We’ve been here at least 4 or 5 times years ago and the food and service was always outstanding. This time we felt that everything was a bit “off”. I’m not sure if, now that capacity is opening up, they were short staffed, but the service was just ok and the food was good but nothing we would rave about. On the plus side my daughter enjoyed her spaghetti and meatballs. The other dishes chicken parm (which is usually fabulous) and eggplant were mediocre. With it being a special day, we would have typically ordered dessert- but decided to finish elsewhere. Most reviews for Ralph’s are very favorable and based on past experiences I would have agreed with those assessments. But if this had been my first time dining here, I would most likely not be a repeat customer.
Ralphs was amazing as usual! Great care was taken to provide for safe dining experience, service was exceptional & the food, outstanding! Has been & will continue to be our favorite Italian restaurant in Philly. Thank you service staff & chefs!
