Food was delicious! Service was good until the end. Waited over 20 minutes for our waiter to return after we ate so we could ask for boxes.
Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was extremely mediocre
A great time was had by all, everyone loved her food and the waiter was really nice.
Great food and service! Outdoor street experience was excellent!
Very authentic Italian restaurant ambiance as well as excellent food always makes a great combination for a great experience also the waiter was great at timing every part of the meal !
This is our favorite restaurant anywhere. It had been 10 years since we last visited (we don't live in Philadelphia any more), and the quality of food hasn't changed. There were four in our party. Two got pasta with red sauce and two got pasta with blush sauce. Everything was delicious.
We loved Ralph's because it was always busy and loud. The waiters were old-school. It fit the neighborhood. On this trip, it was as busy as it could be with social distancing and so it was quieter, but all the things that make this the oldest Italian restaurant in the United States are still there.
We’re on vacation in Philadelphia and we heard about America’s oldest Italian restaurant so we wanted to try it out for ourselves. It was great and a lot of fun.
Food was absolutely delicious! Fast service—customers are really well taken care of. Atmosphere was awesome and seeing the original photos, hearing the stories of the place and owners was the BEST. This place is a GEM and a MUST if you’re in Philly.
Brought my parents there who were visiting from out of town and wanted to take them to an authentic Philly Italian restaurant. The food was great, the service was good and the atmosphere is what you would expect and want from the oldest Italian restaurant in the country.
My only issue was the bus boy kept trying to take our plates before we were finished so it felt a bit rushed even though it wasn’t.
Meatballs are definitely the greatest ever! Antipasto salad has a great portion and flavor. Veal saltimbocca is creamy with great taste, somehow the calamari linguine is kind of fishy.
Food was great. The story of the building and the first Italian restaurant was great. Has a small family feel but that led to a loud environment. Great food at a good cost and worth the stop!
Birthday dinner & our waiter was nothing but amazing. Have order on uber eats before & it was good but SO much better in the restaurant. if you haven’t been & are thinking about it .. Go!
Ralph's never disappoints. My son came home to visit from Hawaii, has not been home for three years. When we picked him up form the airport he said, got to eat real Italian food!! Boom! Ralph's was it. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Food was awesome and authentic. Being an old school Italian i know what is good italian food. The taste was on point and delicious. The waiter was exceptional. If anyone has anything negative to say they just don't know what good food is.
We wanted an authentic Italian meal and Ralph’s did not disappoint. Food was delicious! The restaurant gives you that old school Italian vibe. Perfect meal!
As always awesome food & service. Our waiter Marco was phenomenal
Nice folks, great food, comfortable.
Great food! Such a special place in South Philadelphia. We will return soon.
Great service, good is consistently wonderful. Highly recommend!
My parents took us to Ralph’s for Easter dinner every year when we were kids. It really brought me back to those days. So happy for the experience. My child has recently moved into the area, so we will be visiting more often. Food and wine, great! Our server Mark, terrific! The atmosphere, perfect. Keep it old school. Some of us still remember. And yes, we call it gravy too! Grazie!
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere
On arrival made to wait outside(age 70's) in 95 degree heat, til other couple arrived. When seated place was very small and very noisy. Hard to have decent conversation. Only one bathroom with one toilet in service. Food was ok. Slow to receive check after several requests. Sitting underneath fan which made it very cold for customers. Value not worth the money.
Will not return again
Ralph’s is one of my favorites, and about halfway through the date, the young woman with whom I went told me she understood why. The food was delicious, the wait staff and manager were very friendly, it was a bit noisy but that’s what you get with Ralph’s. Overall yet another wonderful experience there.
Ralph's is classic, delicious Italian fare served by professional, friendly staff. No longer live near Philly, but return to Ralph's any time we are in town for a visit.
I’ve heard so many good things about Ralph’s but had never been. My fiancé wanted Italian for her birthday so I booked the reso and I have to say, it was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had…ever. From the amazing food (meatballs are a must, our veal Marsala was out of this world), great wine, friendly guests at the tables beside us, and attentive service, Ralph’s exceeded our expectations by far!
One of our favorite restaurants. The food is always outstanding and delicious. Love the history of this place. Many memories were made with my parents who introduced us to Ralph’s.
Always a stop for us when we are in the city. The food is always good. The items although commonly seen in other restaurants are distinctively and wonderfully prepared. Portions are generous but not overwhelming. The prices are quite fair.
We went to dinner at Ralph’s for my wife’s birthday. Great ambiance and exceptional service. As for the food, couldn’t ask for a better restaurant if you want Italian.
Great service and amazing food!
Extra sitting on the second floor was great. Home quality food!!!
Overall a great experience… food, service, and outdoor seating was lovely!
Outstanding meal and service. Food was great, waiter was better.
Ralph’s was wonderful. I had the mussels and they were delizioso!!!!
Excellent service in every way.
Great location and history. Food is solid.
We used to big big fans of Ralph’s, but the food and service have gone way down, so I don’t think we’ll be returning. We ordered broccoli rabe as an appetizer and had to send it back as it was limp, colorless and tasted like bitter water.
I know it was the 4th, but the service could not have been worse. When we could flag down the waiter, he would nod at a request (more bread, a new fork) disappear and we’d have to ask at least one more time. The mussels were tasty but the portion was skimpy. All the other entrees were a poor replica of the robust flavors and hardy old-school fare we remembered. Sorry, but even though we’re neighbors, we can’t recommend Ralph’s to anyone.
Food was excellent. We had mussels with white sauce, pasta and eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant was some of the best i have wver had. Weather was perfect for eating outside too.
As an Italian girl from NYC I have to say this is one of the BEST Italian restaurants I’ve ever been to!!! The staff were amazing and so was the vibe - Def. Get the meatballs and anything with the gravy!
Waiter might have been new but he was slow. App (bruschetta) wasn’t great but our meals were pretty good. Ambiance was nice. Would return.
