Japanese
At Raisu, the focus is on providing the freshest fish and excellent costumer service. Our fish flown in from Japan twice a week. On a level comparable to other high end sushi restaurants, yet for an affordable price. Traditional nigiri (served with freshly grated wasabi) comes with signature toppings. Reserve ahead of time for Omakase, which is available in limited quality.

Raisu is a beautiful Japanese restaurant! The sashimi is very fresh and the cold tastings are great. I love the hamachi with grapefruit and sake. We have dined here many times and Raisu always delivers delicious and artistic dishes.

The service is always excellent!

Sushi itself and the Maki rolls are the best. Really the best I have ever had. We had the tuna tartar to start and that was just average. And the octopus appetizer was rubbery and to be honest we should have sent it back. But go for the sushi and the rolls. Outstanding.

All dishes we had were good or great. I will go back to Raisu. Everything was made to order.
The odd thing is that they call themselves Fine Dining, when no fine dining restaurant includes that in their name. Plus Raisu is less expensive than high end restaurants. The bathrooms are not fine dining level. But the service is up there with fine dining.

Pricey, but some of the best sushi I've had in Chicago. Expect to pay 100-150 per person.

Restaurant was warmly decorated, comfortable seating. However it was pretty cold inside, but adding a winter door would help. Sushi was overall delicious, though the more simple maki roles were on the small side. Service overall was excellent and staff were attentive without appearing overbearing.

VERY GOOD EXPERIENCE. Have been there over four times. And I always go with the omakase. This is one of my favorite sushi place in Chicago. And not crowded, quiet environment to enjoy different kinds of nigiri.

The food is super fresh (flown in daily I believe) and everyone who works there is fantastic. The chefs are experts and a blast to watch. I love all of their sashimi and my fave roll is the inferno dragon - its fire! it literally comes out on fire)

Pricey menu, however the food is fantastic and the fish is so so so fresh. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes really quality sashimi. The rolls were packed with fish and not fillings and the staff was very kind and attentive to every request.

Way too rushed! Server was constantly coming to us and it was very pushy. Food was not very flavorful aside from the sashimi and overpriced. And my daughter and I woke up with stomach ales. Way better options in the city.

Went to the restaurant for a special occasion and definitely were not disappointed. The service was impeccable and the food was fresh, interesting and tasty. We ordered the chef's choice menu and it was truly an adventure of flavors. It was served at a perfect pace so we did not feel rushed nor were we waiting around for the next course. It was expensive, but worth it. We are going to return and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes sushi.

This place is a hidden sushi gem. Fresh fish from Japan, creative menu, amazing service. My husband and I can't wait to go back and are so excited to have this on the north side. Location is a bit odd but don't let that deter you if you are a sushi connoisseur.

I wanted really good sushi for my birthday. We had never been here, and although I would have preferred a more old school, traditional atmosphere, Raisu did a great job with their modern but not too modern atmosphere and really exquisite food. Service and presentation and quality were all top notch and I will look forward to returning soon

Good service and interesting experience. The sushi we had is definitely innovative but most time one single ingredient overpower the entire thing. Value wise, personally feel it is a bit more pricy than the worth.

Everything is good, ingredients are fresh and our server was very friendly. I recommend the Maki with salmon skin and wagyu beef on hot stone. Omakase 101 is pretty good too. The only fall is there is a fish bone in Salmon Sashimi.

One of the better Omakase experiences we've had in Chicago. The fish is exceptional. Flavors are creative. Staff are attentive and genuinely care if you are enjoying yourself. Do yourself a favor: go to Raisu, sit at the bar, let them guide you through a wonderful meal.
