Rainforest Cafe - Chicago Downtown
It’s my nightmare, but my kids love it and I love my kids.
It was very cold. And they overcharged me at the gift shop.
I went here for my 22nd birthday with my boyfriend and best friend since we love Rainforest cafe but our experience blew us away, the food was amazing
Is a great place to take the kids, a lot to watch and the food was alright.
Yay.... great job.
Kids enjoyed the atmosphere but the food was too overpriced for the portions. It wasn’t anything special and was poorly prepared. Well Burger was brown and overcooked and flatbread was bland with no seasoning. I was dissatisfied with how much I paid for what I got. The service staff was great and we were in and out quickly
Such a fun experience! My kids loved it.
The look of the restaurant is very cool but it’s overly priced and the food is just ok and they literally charge for every little thing. It was definitely a one time experience for us
It’s the Rainforest, so I don’t expect much, but the North River location in Chicago is still not good. Smelled moldy, long time to sit although I had a reservation and almost empty, disinterested staff.
Nice venue family enjoyable but Pricy pricy pricy ......................................................................................... You're paying to be downtown Chicago.
Applebees burger as good for half the price.
Service is so slow, not friendly waiters
Food was not worth the price
My margarita was awful, the food and selection wasn't the best. My bill was screwed up twice by the manager. Not a god experience.
Service was VERY slow. Food tasted like it had been microwaved. The best thing was the person going around making balloon animals for the kids
We had friends in town with children and thought rainforest cafe would be a fun spot. We had been before and service had always been quick and prompt. On this trip we ordered food for the kids right away and the adults ordered apps and then food a little later. The adults food took over an hour to arrive after we ordered. We had to ask our server if the order had even been placed and finally had to ask a manager for help. I understand that things go wrong on the kitchen and the manager did ultimately comp us the appetizer portion, but having to ask several times where our food was and getting little help until we sought out a manager was frustrating, especially with small children.
Great, fun place to bring kids
Food was awful, our server was relatively decent. Our toddler son didn’t enjoy the lightning show- wish they would space it out more. Overall wouldn’t go back again
Despite having reservations we waited more than 20 minutes to be seated (the restaurant was not crowded). The dinner itself took 2 1/2 hrs! Our waitress took a long time to take our order and the food sat a long time before it was brought out (the melamine plates the kids meals were served on were burning hot- a sign they sat under a heat lamp for a long time!). The food was good/fine but not great. Prepare to pay airport prices for drinks.
Get what you pay for. Four fed for 100$. Not amazing but totally fine. Happy
Was told itd be a 20 min wait for a table to open up. Got up stairs to the dining room and it was only half way filled. There was atleast ten tables open. Ordered our food that took an hour to get to our table. It was served over cooked and cold. Would never recommend.
We went for my sons 4th birthday and he lived it here. Second time for me 1 st time for him
2nd time coming. This time I Came for a 8 year olds bday, the kids loved the setting & the balloon artist. The food was very mediocre. The service was good, but I felt like for the 10 guest we had, their should’ve been 2 servers. 3 of the kids had to wait 25 minutes after everyone had their food to get theirs. By that time everyone was done. Just know if you’re planning to dine here, it’s best for children, the ambiance is the highlight of the visit.
Beautiful place and fun for kids. Long wait to be seated as well as getting drinks and food but I would go back!
Neat place. Food was nothing special. Ribs, 2 pasta dishes, and fish&chips. $127.00
Atmosphere great. Food over priced
The whole table loved their meals! Everyone was amazed by the unique interior. By far our favorite stop in Chicago! The service was outstanding. All waiters were fabulous. They even remembered our names! Would highly recommend the fried shrimp and the pulled pork burger!
I would let them know that even if the restaurant is empty they have to arrive on time and the whole group should be present otherwise they will reassign the table to someone else. The lady at the reception that night had a not very welcoming attitude plus the food took almost 1-1/2 hours to be ready when there were maybe 6 tables occupied in the whole restaurant! I went there to celebrate my sons 6th birthday because I knew he would love the ambiance! The ballon guy was great same as the waitresses!!
Our waiter was excellent and completely on point all evening. Food was excellent. Not one issue
I am 28 years old, live in Chicago. My friend visiting from Iowa, wanted to go to Rainforest cafe.. and the only thing I thought was oh please no, the children! BUT I was surprisingly happy & really enjoyed my experience! I am vegan, and most restaurants dont even bother to notice this on the reservation let alone go above and beyond to help make a item for you.
They were so great, and mentioned it right when we sat down, as well as having the manager, and cooks look at what they can offer and what they are able to do for me... Honestly great service. I have been to some very high scale restaurants in the gold coast, and they dont even care when you mention you are a vegan - they kind of are like well this is our menu so yeah. But the staff and managers at Rainforest were so considerate it made my entire day so much better!!!! I have spoken to everyone Ive come across this weekend, and my co workers and all told them how great the service was, and I would suggest everyone to go here!
Food was great and waitress was attentive. We had a great time visiting. Everything was clean which was vet appreciated.
Our family had a lot of fun and enjoyed the food. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
Special day with my grandsons. Chose RainForest after the musical Cats. Made reservations and when arrived there was no one at the reception counter for 15 minutes. Took another 15 minutes to be seated. Had to hail the waiter every time I needed something, he never stopped back at our table to check on us.
Very dissatisfied with the service !! I have eaten at the other Rain forest locations and have been satisfied with the service and the food. This experience has been by far the worst! We had a group of 25 , 5 adults and 20 kids. The table of 10 kids , from our group , got there drinks and food before the waitress even took our order. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks. Then at least that amount if time for our food. By this time we waited so long we were in a rush. We mentioned to our waitress on two occasions that we were in a rush . It took so long to get our food that our group was about ready to leave when our food finally showed up . We
then couldn't find our waitress to get our checks. We asked another waitress to go get our checks. Our waitress was rude and not responsive.
Worst restaurant ever. Will never go back. We waited over thirty minutes to even get our drinks. We never had anyone stop and ask how we where doing. Many tables after us got food and left before we even got our drinks. The lower level was empty. The top level may have had ten tables total. The manager on duty was very rude to our group. Someone needs to do some training on what customer service really means.
The food was great. All three kids ate every bite. The adult food was also very high quality. Service was spot on.
The taste and texture of my entree was really off, nothing like the description.
My nephew, who never turns down pizza, left half of
his in the plate (a very rare occurrence).
Very disappointing to spend that much to have such terrible food. Our server was nice and did a good job so that part was great.
I had a birthday reservation here and the food was AWFUL! There weren’t a lot of options and all the dishes were VERY overly priced! I got the Rasta Pasta and it was just macaroni noodles with really watery Alfredo sauce. The food was super bland too. My friend ordered the fish and chips and it was clearly frozen and not fresh. Never coming again! 😡
We had the best waitress. She was so accommodating for my son with autism and his food allergies. She really went the extra mile to make our dinner experience very relaxed and fun.
Food was less than ok; service and experience for kids was fantastic!
They refused to seat us until our entire party showed up. This meant waiting for two people for one minute ended up losing our spot in line and waited 40 min for a table. I thought the point of getting an advance reservation meant we’d have a table. Food was good but very overpriced. Service very slow to get orders. Atmosphere was fun and the kids loved the decor. Pretty hard to hear over the elephants though.
The AC was broken or having issues when we dined. I would have appreciated a heads up from the staff upon arrival letting us know this was the case. When we 1st got there is was a bit warm, but I figured maybe the upstairs would be better... wrong, so now I am supposed to tell my 6 year old that is super excited...sorry we are going to leave after we are seated. The server took about 10 minutes to approach the table and I kept making comments about the temperature, but still she said nothing... just blew us off and walked away. Food was subpar and the children's popcorn shrimp were gummy. I told my son not even to eat them. The server we had got sat a large party that were fanning themselves with the menu and management ended up getting them a fan. You could tell the rest of the restaurant was uncomfortable and management never went to any of the tables to apologize. It took about a half hour after we were finished eating to get boxes and pay our bill. At this point I felt sick fro the heat. I could've asked for the manger, but at this point I did not think they cared , so why wait longer? I even asked my son if he wanted dessert and he wanted to skip it cause his little cheeks were flushed. For the amount of money we paid did not match the experience. Their poor workers looked miserable as well
