Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: If Quixote feels like a house of worship, it’s no accident. The cavernous restaurant was built from a deconstructed Mexican church, as hinted at by its Santa Maria candles and pulpit-turned-bar. Chef José Cepeda serves riffs on his family favorites spotlighting heirloom grains, masa, and his specialty, moles.

The guacamole is big and delicious, shrimp tacos is what I ordered and I'm definitely ordering them again.

The whole Lafayette Hotel experience, from the fabulously tiled floors to the creative ceilings and all the incredible furnishings and decor in between, is nothing short of spectacular. We celebrated a birthday at the lively and thematic Oaxcanan restaurant Quixote. The menu was definitely overpriced with entrees over $50, so we opted for (4) different appetizers/small plates instead that were more reasonably priced. The chicken & shrimp tacos, the Oaxacan cheese and the crab donut were all super interesting and delicious. Aside from the pricing, the only constructive criticism was that is was difficult to pick up any mango in the "mango margarita" and the $24 (per margarita) charge was exorbitant given it was served in a small glass with lots of ice ): Also, since we were looking forward to enjoying a Mole dish at an Oaxcanan restaurant, we were all a bit disappointed. Please, please, please add a traditional Chicken Mole dish to your menu, as a lot of people (including the birthday girl) do not care for Duck. Quack! We will be back - but just more mindful about what we order!

The atmosphere felt too dark and crowded, which took away from the experience. The food tasted fine, but portions were small and prices felt high, especially with such limited variety on the menu. The waitress was friendly.

Super awesome atmosphere, restaurant aesthetic, service, and food. The food tasted amazing, some of the portion sizes were a little smaller than I expected, but they still tasted fantastic. Overall, great place to eat dinner at.

Great food and service. Had a regular margarita and a passion fruit one. Nothing special or standout about them which is weird since this company is known for their cocktail programs. Venue is very cool inside although also very dark. I don’t think the server liked that I had my phone light to see the menu but there was no other way I was going to be able to read it! It is not very large and it’s gets busy so the noise level is high. Not a place for an intimate conversation but overall liked it and would go back.
