Quattro Ristorante, Grille & Pizzeria, is restaurateur Frank DePasquale’s forth restaurant in the North End, hence the name which means 4 in Italian. Quattro is also located on the 4 major corners of the North End, Boston’s Famous Italian Neighborhood. Inspired by Italy’s passion for high quality foods prepared with fresh ingredients, Quattro brings delicious foods from simple locally grown ingredients. Frank DePasquale does something few restaurateurs have every tried, melding a full service restaurant that serves wine, beer and cordials with a kitchen equipped with a rotisserie, a char broiler and an authentic Neapolitan brick style pizza oven. We come to Quattro often however this visit was not one of the better ones. Asked to change tables due to the door draft and were refused. Asked for an extra topping on a pizza and were refused, even though we have done it every other visit. We will probably be back just not as often as before.
We had a lovely time at Quattro. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful in describing many dishes to us. The food was served promptly and was delicious. The only down side was the constant cold draft every time someone opened the restaurant door. I had to keep my coat on my lap all evening. But if it's not ridiculously cold out, definitely give it a try! A cozy restaurant with authentic Italian food and wonderful staff.
The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, service was speedy. The ambiance is very calm, cozy, and slightly fancy but not too much. The pizza was absolutely delicious. The cocktails were great and a good variety. I would definitely go back, I loved it!
The pizza was great but the dessert and service were a disaster. It was extremely busy and because of this we felt like we were being rushed to get out of there as fast as possible. Our waiter was rushing everything so much that the experience was not a nice one. He even brought the bill without us asking for it (we still wanted to order dessert) while the last plate was still on the table. The custard dessert was not good at all. The sugar was not caramelised and tasted like lighter fluid (this was the case with two different desserts). The creme itself tasted like it came out of a package from the store. I was incredibly disappointed about this place, given that it was listed in a few top 10 lists of restaurants in Boston.
In addition we also noticed we got charged a 18% tip automatically (I see this mentioned in other reviews so checked up on it) because we were supposedly 6 people (in reality only 4 of us). We would have never tipped this high after such a crap service. Avoid this place: they just scam you.
The waitress was inattentive and did not bring several items that we had asked for, such as bread that should have been given at the beginning, a glass of wine (that we ordered, never received, but still came up on the check), and water.
The CALAMARI made my husband very sick for the remainder of the night. The white wine was way too sweet and overpriced. The entrees were subpar and not worth the cost.
We got there from out of town and had no idea what to expect. The food was decent, not great. The price for that part of town was pretty good and the service was above average. The pizza actually looked really good at the next table. I had a venison rack that was pretty good. As I said it was not bad, just not great.
Great people watching right on Hanover St. Traditional authentic Italian pizza and with some froofie pizza options - no pepperoni here. Fast, friendly service. A typical Niorth End dining room - not a lot of space between tables, but a very charming dining area.
We had an awesome meal at Quattro. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful, he was very quick with our orders and drinks. The restaurant itself was great, I really like restaurants that have the open kitchen area. Overall, would definitely recommend Quattro, and I am excited to go back.
Stumbled upon an Open Table seat for 2 during a rainy Friday night at 7 PM - Dining room isn't big, but it was loud. No bar to stand or sit at - what could have been a bar was transformed into seating facing the turning fire spit with chickens cooking. Good menu variety and request for substitution of pasta as a side for seasonal vegetables was easily accommodated and the Veggies were plentiful and delicious. Chicken Parm was above par and a decent portion for the price. I would go back
Very happy with our lunch at Quattro. One person in our party has severe food allergies. The chef / staff were extremely accommodating and responsive. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much - including seafood specials, calamari, pizza, salmon, and more. Terrific service too. I would definitely recommend!
There's a reason why everyone is ordering the pizza. Stick to the pizza and all will be good. The margherita is a delightful slice of Neopolitan heaven. I tried the meatball pizza and it's amore! That pizza was a slice of wonderful deliciousness. Stick to just pizza!
Have been to Quattro before and enjoyed the contemporary Italian food very much. However, our last meal was very disappointing, to the point we may never go back. It was a little busy at 6:30 pm, but being in Boston's North End on Hanover Street, this is pretty much the norm, and most establishments keep up the pace very well. Not the case here. Our server was inattentive. While waiting for orders he hung out near the restrooms instead of checking on customers. After a more than patient wait, we had to go find him, ask for silverware, bread, oil, water and a glass of wine. When he brought bread, there was no oil. When the oil came, there was still no glass of wine. When our food (seafood pizza and 1/2 a chicken dinner entree) arrived, it just wasn't up to par. The mashed potatoes that accompanied the chicken were cold. The seasonal vegetables were over cooked and soggy. No complaints about the chicken, it was good. The pizza was so heavy with sauce that the crust was soft, doughy and soggy, especially toward the middle, and the toppings fell off all over the plate when my husband tried picking up a slice. We also ordered an appetizer that in our opinion, should be taken off the menu - grilled calamari stuffed with a medley of seafood. The very large tube of calamari came whole and uncut, and was beyond tough - like leather. It came with a butter knife - what a joke! This calamari was so rubbery it needed a power saw or surgical instrument to slice thru it. The seafood stuffing, while good, shot out the end of the calamari tube onto the table when we attempted to cut it into manageable bite size portions. Too bad, Quattro is in a prime location and we like the open kitchen concept, but the food and actual dining experience was just plain "meh." With so many other options in Boston's North End, I'd say pick another restaurant, this place has gone down way down hill. Price, service and quality of food are much better elsewhere.
Calamari was very good. Had the chicken ravioli with a mushroom sauce. Ravioli was rather dense and mushrooms a bit rubbery. Would have been tremendously improved by cooking down the mushrooms and building more flavor. Dining partner had gnocchi which was good - light but very simple sauce. Tiramisu was good but appeared prepackaged as it came in a plastic cup - I have bought similar frozen at Italian markets. So it was all ok but nothing at all special.
