The restaurant closed the day before our dinner. They informed us the day of just in time so that we didn’t show up to a closed restaurant.
Have you ever walked into a restaurant for the first time and had a meal so wonderful that you want to make sure you turn as many people as you can onto that restaurant? My wife and I had that experience last night. The restaurant is Qualita, located at 1351 W. 86th St., near the intersection with Ditch Rd. It's back off the street a little, and hard to see from 86th, but if you spot Starbucks, it's just a little south of there. Owner and chef Charles Mereday has an impressive resume and he backs that up with beatifully prepared dishes. The menu is prix fixe, four courses, with roughly a half dozen options for each course. We both selected the same options for the salad, pasta, and entree courses, and went different directions for dessert. In order, those selections were a burrata with tomato basil pesto, a seafood lasagna and duck breast. Our "dolce" selections were cannelloni and frozen lemon curd with berries. Normally we would make different selections from each other, and I wish we had. Qualita is the sort of place where the practice of sharing tastes is going to be big part of the experience. Charles made us feel like we were the most important guests he had that evening. That kind of service is just not possible so much of the time. If you're looking for world class cuisine coupled with the royal treatment, Qualita deserves your attention.
Overpriced. Didn't even have all menu items.
Quality of food ok, quantity of food ok.
Very slow service.
Thank you for feedback. We are a few weeks old and working diligently to refine our process. Best Regards
High quality of well chosen materials and skillful preparation supports the unique name of Qualita. We recommend the unique wine pairings with each of the four courses. Wonderful dining experience
The food was fantastic. I would encourage to have cooler for white wine on table and fresh ground pepper and maybe a candle on the table.
This is a new hidden gem in Indianapolis. The portions for the price is outstanding. The first course is sized as an appetizer should be, but the 2nd and 3rd course were worth the cost. We barely could eat our entre bc we were already getting full! The shrimp scampi and scallop dishes were delicious. The cheese stuffed ravioli with pancetta and peas.....outstanding. The duck was perfect. My daughter had the ribeye steak and it had to be over 20 oz. She didn't like the Yukon potatoes because it was cooked in olive oil, so its tastes really oily. The steak, while huge in portion, was bland. We had to ask for some salt and a sauce of some sort. Other than the steak, we really could not have had a better meal.
It was my second time there and every bit as good as the first. Although the price is a prix fixe at $85, it is a good value based on the qulaity of the food. RDE
The veal chop was the best I’ve had in town. I also enjoyed the scallop appetizer. The linguini and clams was a nice dish. We preferred the lemon curd dessert over the chocolate one.
We tried the tuna anti pasta and the ravioli and the lamb saddle. The portions were very large and everything was very tastefully done. The table shared each of the desserts with the passion fruit and berries dessert being our favorite. This is a nice addition to our Italian restaurant scene.
