Exceptional dining experience for Portland Dining Month on the eve of the restaurant closure announcement. Our server was kind and attentive and I can't wait to return for their happy hour menu.
Service is excellent. We recently abstained from alcohol but the mocktails does not disappoint. Didn't even feel like we needed a little extra. The food was wonderful - Thai inspired prawns were big, well cooked, and full of punchy flavor. The duck had a hint of Peking Duck sauce but braised was tasty. Overall a great experience.
Everything about this place was fantastic! It’s intimate and elegant but not pretentious. The food was delicious and the staff were patient and very friendly. It’s one of the few places that I’ve been to where every staff member from the waiter to the cooks and hostess say goodbye as you pass them. Beyond excellent service!
First time for us.
We came for the non-alcoholic cocktail selection and both drink and food was OUTSTANDING..
\We will be back
First time trying Quaintrelle for Portland dining month, was very disappointing. The duck was too sweet and flavors did not blend well. The crab fried rice was overpriced, too oily and lack of seasoning. The cocktails were moderate and pricy. $28 for 3 tiny scallops is way overpriced. Overall not worth it!
A wonderful dining experience! We did the wine pairing which added another layer of enjoyment. The food was exquisite and plated beautifully. This is a must for foodies!
I had a couple of inconsistent experiences with the restaurant a couple of years ago, but I heard there was a new chef, so I went back for dining month. I'm thrilled to report that the food seems back on track and I'll be adding this place back into my rotation of favorite restaurants.
My fiance and I came to Portland for the weekend and decided to try something new for Portland Dining Month. Unfortunately, we were seated 45 minutes later than our reservation because they weren't ready for us. We were served our dinner after 10 pm and some of my Brussels sprouts were under cooked. It simply wasn't what we were expecting for our date night.
The bartender was not there that night so we could not enjoy any of their house cocktails. The wait between our first course and our second was over an hour. Fortunately, the company we were with and the food was fantastic.I would suggest that they could have told us what was going on and possibly even given us a complimentary dessert to make up for the very long waits. They were obviously having issues.
Overall excellent vegetable and seafood dishes. The chefs tasting menu is worth it and unique as all parties don’t have to eat the same thing. Pork dish was overdone and Brussels too salty but otherwise very good meal. The service was excellent and inviting.
Food was excellent. We highly recommend visiting this restaurant. Only downside was was availability of parking.
Where do I even begin. Our experience was absolutely perfect. We came in to celebrate our parents 40 years of marriage and I truly couldn’t have picked a better restaurant. From the second we walked in the door the staff was amazing. The food is absolutely to die for. We decided to go with the chefs 7 course tasting and we were not disappointed. You can tell everything they use is extremely fresh and the flavors are out of this world. Truly can’t wait to return. Thank you again for the unforgettable night.
Food and drink was amazing, thank you!
We went to Quaintrelle to enjoy Portland Dining month. We sat upstairs where it's pretty quiet and intimate. The food is sooo good! The delicata squash appetizer is crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. My favorite dish is definitely the prawns. They were probably the best shrimp I've ever eaten. We will be back soon to sample dishes from the regular menu.
Excellent food and service.
Great place , service and food quality is excellent!
We had previously gone and had a terrific time. We decided to go for date night because they were playing Blue grass and again, this little gem did not disappoint. Recommended for anyone who has an adventurous spirit. Staff is amazing and David, the GM really is attentive and super friendly. we will be back...the menu changes daily!!! So much to love about this restaurant.
Tasting menu is a good deal.
Excellent food. Lighting is on the dim side, which makes it difficult to read the menu.
Excellent food and service!
What I like about Quaintrelle is that you often are totally surprised at what you end up liking on their menu. Their creative, fusion pairings make it difficult to imagine how things are going to taste based simply on the menu descriptions. That and we all loved their care and attention to vegetable dishes; they share stardom with the proteins. I also don't know why some complain about portions. We found them just right. The dining room was loud during our visit and the wait staff was attentive and easy-going. Great job!
We had the tasting menu. Everything was delicious.
We had an amazing meal tonight. It was our 1st time and we were very impressed. The wait staff were excellent and the general manager stopped by and said hi to us and to check in our meal. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend this place.
Best Food in Portland right now! And its got a great late night happy hour. Quail and Mussels were fantastic.
Delicious! Food was fresh and seasonal. Menu is updated daily. So good. Reminds me of Portland restaurant before the influx of craziness. Great for a date night or just meeting up with friends.
Try to Crab Fried Rice, The Pork Ribs, and The Trout!!! Yum!
Overall it was a great dinner. The service was attentive but not intrusive. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu. He made great suggestions regarding the tastes and size of the various dishes. We were a group of 7 and we had 10 different dishes served as 3 courses. they paired the different dishes together to make the 3 courses. The whole fish trout dish was the hit of the evening by overwhelming choice. We wish we would have got 2 of those. It is a small darker space, but I think that adds to the experience. Parking on Mississippi is always an issue and it was again, I do think that is somewhat the nature of urban hot spots. We certainly will return.
Bar, drinks, service and food all top notch. Really some of the best staff in Portland.
There were four of at dinner. We tried 8 different appetizers and entrees amongst us and they were all superb. I can't remember everything, but we had a wonderful vegetable salad, the Dungeness crab fried rice, the short rib, the carrots and the cauliflower. For dessert we had what is essentially a drinking chocolate topped with meringue.
The wine offerings by the glass were all excellent and the service was attentive but not obsequious.
we can't wait to return and take friends.
Amazing food. It’s hard to find dishes that are unique these days but I was blown away by the incredible pairings. Something as simple as squash paired with salmon roe and a white cream sauce poured over upon serving....took something so simple to amazingly complex bursts of flavor.
Food was outstanding!
Thanks for being so accommodating!
Beau loves you guys!
A true neighborhood gem! In a city of great restaurants, this more than holds its own in terms of quality and presentation of food, creativity, and friendliness and knowledge of waitstaff. Never had a disappointing meal or experience here (and we've been there a dozen times)
Thank you for the kind words, and for your loyalty. It's always a pleasure to take care of you. David Foulke General Manager Quaintrelle
Excellent! First time dining here and we’re concerts!
Great food, awesome staff!
A neighborhood gem with beautiful plate presentation, delicious food and friendly service. We’ll be back soon!
