Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Seattle
We feature an expansive menu ranging from artisan cheeses, starters, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas to pasta and seafood. We take a great deal of pride in utilizing the most fresh and local ingredients.
On the wine side of things our wine list features over 80 glass and 600 bottle selections. Over the years our wine program has been recognized with various accolades that include an "Award of Ultimate Distinction" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and being named "Best Wine Bar" by Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington Viewers Poll.
Over an hour to be served. Gave us free meal.
My favorite restaurant of all time, come here once a year when I visit my parents. If you love whine, cheese and meats boards, this is your place!
A bit loud but doable.
Very nice dining experience— great vegetarian options.
Fantastic experience, great service!
A great place for wine lovers and people who enjoy great food!
The 20% service fee is ridiculous. $50 of our $120 bill was service fee and taxes. Otherwise good place to have a glass of wine and some food.
It took over an hour to get our food.
Celebrating our wedding at our favorite restaurant where we had one of our first dates. Excellent service, wine list, and food. Staff is always accommodating and nice.
It is certainly a wonderful option to experience “great wine and food tasting”!
That Cobb salad was amazing, the wine amazing, the service and ambiance were incredible. Very pleased!
Wonderful service, menu, atmosphere. Definitely recommend.
The food, atmosphere, and wine was absolutely wonderful. My family enjoyed everything about this place and so did I. I will definitely come back here again. This restaurant serves quality food and the employees are also extremely nice.
Great food, service, and love the ambiance!!
Had a reservation for lunch but had to wait 15 minutes for table. Food took longer than expected; no one in party ordered anything out of the ordinary. No visit from waiter to keep us posted. Mandatory 20% gratuity despite wait for table and long wait for food. Purple used to be a nice experience but there are a lot of better 'business lunch' options in the area now. I hope Purple figures out how to improve/innovate.
Quick lunch spot, enjoyed the meal but the salad seems a bit less flavorful than usual.
Our server Karl was fantastic! He made the lunch a very enjoyable time.
Service was very good. Food came out quickly. I like the idea of the BLTA but because the bread was so thick and crusty, it was hard to bite through. Restaurant was very cold and very noisy. We felt like we had to shout at each other.
Lunches are fresh & delicious. For a work lunch the food is served in a timely manner and conversation can be easily had.
Tasty food, very nice waiter. It's hard to have a conversation though--yelling is required.
I would recommend if person likes lively ambience, good food but wine prices high, as is noise level.
I've been a fan of Purple and the Heavy Restaurant Group for years, so I really hate to leave a negative review. But the Seattle location has been a disappointment the last 3 times I have visited it for lunch. It is consistently slow for to receive food. We ordered our meals as soon as our server came to our table to get our drink orders. Almost 40 minutes later, we finally received our salads. Salads should not take 40 minutes. We were told a large table had arrived right before us, which I don't feel is a good excuse. And this slowness was not an anomaly; past experience trained us to place our order as soon as we sat down. My friend's salad came out wrong; when our server brought her a replacement salad, he dropped it at the table without a word. My salad was so disappointing; I almost always get the kale Caesar salad with chicken. This time, the dressing had a strong mayo flavor (instead of the normal pepper and Asiago flavor), there were 2 croutons on the salad, and I think I found a total of 4 tiny slivers of cheese. I paid $23 for the salad (including the chicken), and it did not come close to meeting expectations. While I will still visit the Bellevue and Woodinville locations for dinner, I'm not confident that the Seattle location can handle the lunch crowd.
Excellent food and service.
I always enjoy the staff and food at Purple immensely. This most recent visit was on my birthday, and I was treated like royalty! Everyone went above and beyond to make sure my visit was fantastic... and it was!
It was a little noisy this time with screeching children, but we were there early... so family events are more to be expected earlier in the evening... and it was great despite the noise level.
Thank you SO much Purple staff... you are wonderful! Can't wait to come again!
The food doesn’t match the wine list. Needs improvement.
Food was not as good as what I had at their lunch service. Fries were burnt. Two out of two salads were soggy with wilted greens (not supposed to be wilted). Lovely waitress, but we had to flag her down for water, etc. Sometimes, we had to wait for longer than a few minutes. My family was disappointed, when I talked up this place. I explained that the lunch food is better quality.
I’ve been here before multiple times and really liked it. Our food was 45 minutes late and we were really only comped the mandatory service charge. Won’t be returning anytime soon.
A bit noisy, but delightful
Our waitress was great! she was very patience as we were dining and working
Such amazing staff at purple! The food and wine was delicious and they made it extra special for our anniversary. Thank you!
The food was really good although the deserts were lacking.
It was simply amazing!
The food was very disappointing. I ordered the Shrimp Louie and I couldn’t even bite the bread because I was so hard and old. The fries were soggy as if they were made a couple of hours ago. Moreover, I believe it’s very tacky for businesses to automatically include 20% gratuity in the bill as it promotes a mediocre service.
Great meal as always.
Purple Cafe never disappoints in the quality of food, ambiance, and service. We always try to swing by any time we're in the Seattle area.
Our waiter was fantastic and made the whole experience amazing. The wine selection is insane but plan on buying a bottle because their glass selection is a little meager.
We had a great time. The service and food was excellent!
Good options and great for lunch or dinner
Active bar scene and fun people watching from window
Good lunch menu that includes a section on lunch combinations for you to pick 2 items out of three available selections (soup, salad, and sandwich) to have what you want for lunch. Pizzas are also good.
I always eat here when in in Seattle. I always order the lobster mac n cheese and the salted caramels. The service and the food are reliably great! Note: they automatically include a 20% gratuity on all checks.
