Purple Cafe and Wine Bar - Bellevue
We feature an expansive menu ranging from artisan cheeses, starters, soups, salads, sandwiches and pizzas to pasta and seafood. We take a great deal of pride in utilizing the freshest, local ingredients that change with the seasons.
On the wine side of things our wine list features over 80 glass and 600 bottle selections. Over the years our wine program has been recognized with various accolades that include an "Award of Ultimate Distinction" from Wine Enthusiast Magazine and being named "Best Wine Bar" by Evening Magazine's Best of Western Washington Viewers Poll.
Nice dinner out; good ambiance and a delicious entry/wine pairing.
They had limited staff on so service was poor. Had to mention this to management several times during our dinner. Would not go back or recommend. If you can't staff the restaurant, don't open.
Purple is my favorite! Everyone is always super nice.
Great for lunch. Made reservations and was seated with minimal wait. Service was great and the food was delicious. I would go to Purple for lunch or dinner again.
Lamb was excellent! Our party of 4 very much enjoyed our dinners, food, wine, and ambience.
Great menu and convenient location. Very cool atmosphere.
The food was very good but about half way through our meal our waitress was pulled into a private party, and no one covered our table from that time on.
loved it, the service was good. Food was good. Brussel sprouts were ok, however.
We love the BLTA sandwich and Tomato Soup. Best shoestring fries in town!
Went back to Purple after a couple of years. Good experience except for the limited menu.
Great food. Lobster Mac n cheese was amazing.
Good service and food. Very welcoming at reception desk. Energetic vibe. Met a friend for a lunch, it was pretty loud for carrying on a conversation at noon. I had the chopped salad after starting with the hummus; both were very good and freshly flavorful.
The worst service we have had in longer then I can remember. We were sitting in the middle of the restaurant and still the waitress was unavailable most of the night. The restaurant is louder than a nightclub and the menu hadn’t changed since we were there about a year ago. Not worth the effort when there are so many good choices with good service
Pork chop with Brussels sprouts, outstanding as was beef filet. Lobster Mac and cheese also delicious. Chocolate lava cake excellent and sea salt caramels. Great away. Great wine and cocktails, we liked it so much ate here two out of three nights in ton on business.
The only issue I had was with the level of noise, I wear hearing aids, good ones, and I struggled trying to hear the conversation at our table.
The food were superb! Service was excellent.
The only thing is that we observed all the Asian looking guests were seated in the same corner with wines. We saw tables available in the main hall but we were lead to the corner. Then another Asian looking couple came in they were seated next to us. They were brave enough to request the main hall but to no avail. Only European looking guests in the main hall.
Really disappointed. Will not visit this place anymore. Sorry!
Especially to the chef and attendants, they are top quality!
Management emailed and explained the situation. We understand that the seating was not arranged intentionally.
We appreciate the thought.
Meh, the food was not inspiring and definitely not worth the price. I think it is time for Purple to fade away.
Food was good but the service could be improved. We waited a very Long time for our food to be ready and waited to be checked on for a while after we had finished our dinner . It wasn't busy when we were there so I expected a little more effort .
I have eaten at this establishment in the past, most recently with clients. This visit we had the scallops and pork dinners. Both were delicious, prepared and presented well. The wait staff was cordial and efficient, providing a decent dining experience. As with many restaurants, this establishment applies an automatic tip to all meals, not just parties of six or more. I guess this is how it works in our new "entitlement" society.
I’ve been to all three of the purple locations (Woodinville, Bellevue and Seattle) and the best location is Woodinville. The Bellevue location fell short as it was loud, I requested the bar top but did not get seated there and we were seated in the corner. Service was average as the server knows they will be making a 20% tip which is factored into the bill. All and all, I will not be returning back to this location.
Our favorite place! Food is always fantastic! Sommelier Salvatore is always the highlight of the evening
Loved the entrance and interior layout of the fabricated iron and cement decor...Both my wife and I enjoyed a well prepared dinner, it was our fist time dining at Purple. We ordered a Chefs Special that include both starters and dessert, the meal-and service was top notch! KUDOS to Kat our server! hint..dine in the evening for the best ambiance.
I had my usual 1/2 chopped salad with chicken. As always, it was DELICIOUS! Unfortunately, it really can only be considered a side salad now due to having been shrunk to a ridiculously small portion. It used to be a nice lunch size meal. It was disappointing to say the least. I will just have to order the full size from now on. Truly everything else about my dining experience was perfect.
Loud loud loud loud loud loud. (Apparently I need more than 1 word...)
It’s a pretty place full of energy and ambiance. That’s where the bloom on the purple rose faded for me and my friends. I arrived early and headed to the bar for a drink and was treated so rudely by one of the bartenders (a blonde guy) and left sitting so long that the stranger sitting next to me felt the need to intervene—the same bartender cut him off and said curtly “I already talked to her” and walked away. Finally the dark haired bartender took my order. By the time the first rude guy got back to me, I was done with my drink and had already cashed out. At that point I was reminded that the 20% tip was already included. (Seriously?) My experience in the dining room wasn’t much better. The waiter spent most of his time looking at his screen and after we generated our drink orders we never saw him again. Not even at the end of the meal. Other random people kinda sorta took care of us. Our $28-$32 entrees were mediocre at best, the Marsala was not good. and my chicken was dry. And yes, we again got the privilege of tipping 20% on lackluster service and poor food. Also—side note—the fire marshal might want to take a look at how many chairs and people they are cramming in there because we were virtually blockaded in more than once.
the purple cafe is awesome, the food was good, the service was great and they accommodated a last moment change of additional seats needed.
The tip is already included and not every server points this out.
GreAt service from Tori!
Tory was our server and he was amazing and knew so much about wine
Great dining experience. The waiter was prompt the food delicious and the manager even stopped by to see how we were doing. No complaints. A fun place to visit.
This place looks super cool. Great decor and design. First the parking lot has way too few spots so you end up having to find somewhere else to park to a lot time for that. When we arrived it took awhile to get our seat even with a reservation and it was at least 10 minutes before someone came over to get drink order. The entire night took forever. We couldn’t even really figure out who our waiter was. It was strange. I ordered the Brussels sprouts which were a little under seasoned and soggy. The wine pairing was actually very good and unique. I then got the duck. Another great pairing and food was good and portion was healthy. My husband got the wine pairing experience and had dates and cheese, wild boar pasta (best dish) and crembrule (very good). Parings were unique and interesting. It was very slow and the food was just good, not great. They add 20% automatically to the bill and it was $177. Not worth it at all. I think $100-110 would have been more appropriate at max.
Food was excellent, Service very good. The one problem was that we felt RUSHED through the entire meal. We ordered a cheese plate with a glass of wine expecting a relaxed appetizer course. But our second course- salads- was delivered at the same time as the cheese plate. Our table for 2 could barely hold all of the food, wine and other items - reaching around the bottle of wine we had asked to be decanted for our entre, glassware, etc. to partake of the shared cheese plate. just as we finished our salad course, the entres were delivered- should have a little rest time between courses to allow the food to settle and not feel like we were in an eating marathon. Entres were excellent, hot when served.
We had an enjoyable evening.
It was loud, service was "just OK"-server forgot a glass of wine for one of my clients for a good 15 min
Great service and great food! Big portions. Me and 15 of my girls really enjoyed it.
Great place and great food. Loved wine flights! Food was great in every dish.
The food and ambiance were great. We had a reservation for two and stayed just over an hour. This is the first I've heard of an added sevice fee for a party of two. Would this be like a table rental? In any case, I'd burn more money here next visit.
I don't want to tell you good the food is because I am worried I won't be able to get a reservation next time.
Awesome cocktails and ambience, attentive service. Food was ok. Crab cakes were a bit too salty and the Pear Gorgonzola pizza could have benefited from more Gorgonzola. Trout was good with crispy skin and salted caramels were good too. Overall, the food wasn’t super high on flavor quotient. I would go back for drinks and apps.
