Met some friends here for dinner and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. We sat inside in a booth, although the patio looked delightful too. We were seated right away and our server was at our table right away to welcome us and ask for our drink order. We thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered. The tacos are amazing on the home make blue corn tortillas. The spicy margarita with jalapeño was one of the best I’ve ever had, as was the shrimp taco.
We were sat in one of the booths in the kitchen area and it was overwhelmingly loud. Between the noise of the kitchen, the servers slamming silverware in the trays and the echoing of everything in the design, it was impossible to have a conversation. Everyone was yelling as if they were at a concert. The table next to us had a poor old woman who was so miserable because she couldn’t hear a single thing. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Puesto. I’ve been at least 30 times and I’ll continue to come back. I will just never sit in that back room again. It ruined the dining experience for me.
My family and I chose this place for my grandmother’s birthday , I mean you can’t go wrong with tacos. We had a large party and were able to accommodate us perfectly. Our waitress was very knowledgeable with the ingredients and was very amicable. Great vibe and even better food. The pickled pear carnita Taco was absolute delight! We’ll be returning very soon I’m sure.
We love this restaurant but it’s just so noisy now that you have to shout. It rally takes away from the experience.
Great steak tacos. Very noisy and very very busy. Hard to carry on a conversation because of noise level.
Food is very fresh with interesting flavor profiles. Not your typical taco place- elevated dishes. The shrimp were amazing! Drinks decent size for the $. Friendly upbeat atmosphere
Love the tacos and guacamole.
My wife’s birthday dinner, the selection was excellent and we enjoyed sharing and tasting our selections. The service was great, overall, a most enjoyable evening.
What a refreshing experience every time we dine at Puesto Los Olivos. The service is appropriately attentive with very unique and interesting food options all with superb flavors. We strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys a casual atmosphere, superb food and great service. We will be coming back forever....
Great atmosphere. I liked the limited menu, tacos and bowls makes it easy to order. Chef special tacos were great. A bit slow on service but it was crowded with a lot of people to serve. We’ll definitely be back.
Food quality and creativity very, very good. Service from Megan was excellent.
Value proposition is ok, fine for a business lunch.
Generally a B+\A-, solid restaurant, good food, good experience at Puesto.
I am a huge fan of Puesto and visit fairly regularly. On this latest visit, they raised their prices and changed their menu (took one of my favorite tacos off). Disappointing, but I can get over it - gotta make money and keep the menu fresh.
What I found discouraging is that the high quality they had before felt like a dropped significantly. The food was much greasier and did not seem plated as well. Normally I would chalk this up to a busy dinner rush, but the place was only about half-full at that point. All this put together means that I will most likely return, but just not as often.
Not worth the price of admission. For the price I expected more style and presentation, more decor and ambience. This isn’t much better than a taco stand. I can find far better quality and atmosphere elsewhere for less. We won’t be back.
Very disappointing most recent visit and it wasn't the service or quality of the food.
We were wondering why dinning consistently same day same time week after week all of a sudden there was less of a wait and the many empty tables towards the end of our dining time where they would normally be full with many people still waiting.
Being we were regular patrons none of us looked at the prices on the menu (most of us didn't even look at the menu because we already knew what we were ordering) but got sticker shock when the bill arrived.
Within a 2 week span of time there was a 10 - 20% increase in food prices and the drinks that we had were $1 more then our visit just 2 weeks prior.
What was already considered by many to be a marginal value even on a Taco Tuesday special was now VERY EXPENSIVE for tacos and drinks.
The chairs have small butt area and side rails. We were a big group from work and it was embarrassing that some of us had to ask to have the chairs changed out. Our big butts was squishing over the seat.
The chips and salsa was delicious and filled all the time. The service was great. The portions were small for the $16.00 3 street tacos but the flavor and taste was great. Good thing they gave us a lot of chips or we’d been starving.
We came for Cinco De Mayo and were expecting some sort of celebration . Nothing, nada. Could've been any other regular day at the restaurant. Limited food and drinks on that day just tacos with Small portions and high prices. One of the tacos literally burned my throat, it was that spicy.
We absolutely love this place and believe in what they do and do well indeed. An off night for us as we were not aware of an abbreviated menu for the Cinco de Mayo weekend and thus our expectations from our previous visit were put on hold. The Manager did an outstanding job in talking with us and offering some help. We already have another reservation in a few weeks to return as the Full Menu offers so many great flavors and experiences. We continue to strongly recommend Puesto to anyone we meet and look forward to our return visit in a couple of weeks.
We love Puesto and go to the San Diego locations all of the time. However, we were disappointed about the limited Cinco de Mayo menu (this should have been stated/shown on website) and that it didn't include the best/most popular taco: chicken verde!!! It is what our group was really looking forward to. Also, we were disappointed the guacamole was not made fresh at our table side like we are used to at other locations. The place wasn't so crowded to where services/menu needed to be downsized. If anything, there should have been specialty and additional items offered.
Good food and dunks :)
My boyfriend and I went to Puesto Los Olivos for Taco Tuesday and had an 8pm reservation. We arrived 10-15 minutes before our reservation and checked in with the hostess. She let us know that they were bussing tables and should have us seated shortly. We were not seated until 15 minutes after our reservation. I understand if they were busy but the hostess did not bother to check in with us or update us that it would be a longer wait. She didn't seem very concerned with the customers, didn't have a smile on her face when we checked in or when we followed up with her to see if our table was almost ready. But she was laughing and smiling standing behind the counter talking with the other hosts/hostesses. It was frustrating because the host is supposed to be the most welcoming person at the restaurant and we received the opposite vibe from her. Once we were seated, we were taken care of by our server who was great and super attentive. The tacos were amazing and so was the spicy margarita which was recommended to us by our server. We'll definitely eat at Puesto again, but we'll probably go to the Park Place location in Irvine instead where the hosts are more friendly.
Excellent service. We sat on the patio and it was fun to have a view of the ferris wheel at the Irvine Spectrum
Great tacos, guacamole and cocktails. Love the place
Good ambiance and food. A little expensive . But, food is quite good and the service is friendly. A good spot to relax with friends.
Service was stellar the night were there. I had the Shrimp Bowl and it was delicious! The Guacamole was just spicy enough. I highly recommend you stop in and treat yourself to their large collection of fine Tequilas.
The area was nice and the food was interesting but the creative combinations of food weren’t the best every time. Really liked the bell pepper taco but the plantains and other vegetarian tacos (zucchini + cactus, and mushroom) were okay. Overall, interesting and fun vibe and would recommend to give a try. Maybe I didn’t order the best things.
The manager and staff were fantastic and very friendly. We enjoyed the food and had a great dinner.
Very flavorful! Like a burst of color in your mouth!!
The place is nice and the food and drinks are good. We went there for happy hour and I felt the price was reasonable. At almost double that for non-happy hour for the same items, I think the restaurant is over priced. The service is very good!
Taco Tuesday made Puesto a vibrant busy place so glad I had a reservation. Met with friends but a bit difficult to hear one another. That said? We all enjoyed the great food, perfect service and good drinks
Fun vibe with good food and drinks.
Wonderful food! Enjoyed the Cali-taco this visit. Thank you for the chocolate taco celebrating my birthday!
Servers were very friendly, food was well presented and delicious!
Food is always delicious. Hard to buy margaritas at full price when we are used to getting them at the happy hour cost!
Food was great as usual, but it felt like our server forgot about us. Drinks took so long. I got my margarita, but my friend never received her Modelo, and the server never followed up on it. The tacos were cold when they got to us but we ate them anyway. We won’t go back to this one, we prefer the new one in Irvine instead!
We went on taco Tuesday and although the price was right the experience wasn’t as good as on other nights. Difficult to park, wait for table even with reservation, very long wait for food order to come out, tacos weren’t as good as in the past and were inconsistent even within our table. Restaurant was loud. I would not go again on a taco Tuesday with nice weather. I do enjoy this restaurant much more on other nights.
Our waitress Alauna - excellent/knowledgable/personable.
This spot has some fine food & spirits.
We sat outside which is my preference. Not noisy, they had the heaters on so warm and cozy. Great tacos and great service.
Great food, service and ambience.
A bit expensive for the food you get but will go back.
As a fan of their San Diego location... it’s fantastic to have a location within 30 minutes of my house... I’ll be coming back frequently...
Had the taco combo for lunch. It was delicious.
