Great Mexican cuisine. Taco choices are unique combinations of excellent ingredients. Do not miss the carnitas, filet mignon or fish tacos. Guacamole & chips are awesome!
I found this place to be extremely overpriced. Two of the three tacos I received were not what was ordered ( beer battered fish) but had an unidentifiable meat instead. Our horchatas were oddly banana flavored. The server was pleasant but confused
Good food, but not at the price.
We had the tacos. The tacos were expensive compared to other places but they were delicious. You are paying a premium for tacos that are not readily available at other places (e.g. filet mignon, soft shell crab, shrimp, etc). The service was fantastic. We will be going back again on Taco Tuesday where the tacos are more reasonable at $3 each.
The food was not good, too expensive for the portion and the ingredients.
Unique and delicious twist on Mexican food. The menu is smaller with a wide variety of gourmet tacos. Great drink options too.
I have been to Puesto several times. This is the first time I sat inside the restaurant. I went for a lunch business meal. Service was outstanding, and could not have been better. The food is always good, but not always great. Battered fish taco was cold and overly battered with little fish inside the batter. For a @$6.00 taco, this is disappointing. The carnitas taco was better. The chicken taco was the best. Overall 3 tacos for $16 is not inexpensive. Quality is high but portions are small. It is not accurate to call these Street Tacos. $11 for guacamole is very high. The menu is limited. I want to like Puesto more than I really do. The atmosphere and location in Los Olivos are great. For the money, it is not worth it. Six tacos, guacamole and one non-alcoholic beverage was $56. I'd rather be at Javier's in the Spectrum for that price.
Was there mid afternoon. Restaurant was about 30% occupied. Ordered 3 tacos special for $16.00. Tacos came out Luke warm. Tacos need to be eaten hot. Would not order the 3 taco plate. Took forever to get a second drink.
Such a pleasant and fun experience. Great food, good prices.
Not impressed with this overpriced taqueria with an uninspiring menu. The offering were small and lacked culinary imagination. Definitely catering to a gringo’s palate. On the positive side, great venue with fun seating options inside, outside or nearly in the kitchen. Staff were very attentive and friendly. If you prefer simple variations of chicken, steak and shrimp, this may be a spot for you. A safe date night for sure.
The food was excellent. The variety of tacos and that you can combine different options on the same plate was great so we could try many options. The mushroom and octopus were our favorites. I highly recommend sharing plates so you can try the full variety. The service was wonderful with very attentive servers.
First time dining here. We were initially sat in the dining room area but the metal chairs were uncomfortable. We asked to move to the booth and the server accommodated our request with no hesitation. Upon seating at the booth, we were greeted by our new server. (The booth was so much more comfortable!) She explained the happy hour menu choices for drinks and tacos. I ordered their perfect margarita - and it was GREAT! My girlfriend and I shared the lime rice and black beans. We each order three tacos (they are served on blue corn tortillas!). She ordered their award winning chicken tacos, veduras, and the Special (rockfish). The chicken taco was PERFECT! The veduras was flavorful - and the added zucchini blossom was nice! The rockfish was "so-so". I ordered the veduras as well - and the carnitas and mushroom tacos. All of my tacos were delicious! Superb!
To finish off our date, we shared their Torched Mango Cheesecake! TO DIE FOR!
Note: The water glasses were really nice and "rustic". We both commented on them.
They brought us the wrong food, but they fixed it. It was super nosy. I felt like their hostess wasn’t very professional/friendly.
Known for their tacos and I can see why! Delicious. Party of 6 and we all had different tacos. I loved the verduras. No clue how they make it but wow!! My husband's favorite was the lightly battered shrimp taco. Guacamole was seasoned just right and the aguas were perfect for lunch. Our waitress was attentive enough. Didn't hover but we didn't feel neglected either. Great first time. Can't wait to go back on taco Tuesday!
Awesome as always!
They made a mistake with two of our orders. We were a party of 8. But the food was good.
It was just not that good. It was not traditional Mexican but does not suceed as progressive Mexican. The interior looks dated already like bad 1970’s. I wished it had been better. Great location.
Fun atmosphere, although too loud to have a table conversation. Food was good, service was less than stellar.
Knowledgable and attentive staff, with the most impressive selection of mezcals that I’ve found in Orange County. I’ll be back as soon as I can.
The tacos were good but a little overpriced. Margaritas are way overpriced. And wished they had a full menu like the one in San Diego.
Puesto is a fun place to meet friends for lunch or dinner. The tacos are small but have a good portion of meat and other great ingredients that other taco places do not have. The servers are friendly and helpful! Would definitely go back again!
Great taco Tuesday deals, otherwise a little pricey for Mexican food
Puesto is a great place to go for happy hour after work. Their tamarind shrimp taco is amazing, as is their chicken al pastor. Their regular prices are a bit on the high side ($5-8 per small taco), but at happy hour they are $2 less.
First time at this location (had only been to the San Diego location) ... what a fun night out with some dear friends having some wonderful margaritas and delicious tacos! Thank you for the great food/cocktails and service!!
Ok but expensive food and bad service. Wouldn’t go again nor would I recommend to anyone.
Overpriced for what you get. Been several times. Nothing super special. Just kind of a happening place.
Great happy hour, great service, quick delivery of food and drinks
Best Margaritas amazing tacos great ambience what else can I say this is our all times favorite place.
Puesto is just an amazing restaurant doing amazing things with all kinds of well sourced ingredients. They have an impress bar and an open kitchen where you can sit near the flames and fury!!! Highly recommended...
Birthday. Got a dessert.
I always enjoy Puesto for a casual evening of outdoor dining (their patio’s are always my preferred seating simply for being outdoors and the bar esqe vibe). Their food is great and you can’t beat their taco Tuesday pricing. But my last few visits I have been unimpressed with their margaritas. I usually do the classic as my go to there and have been alternating between that and some of their flavored margaritas and lately their flavor has been sub par
I made reservations for lunch last weekend for 20 people to celebrate my husband's birthday and was surprised at the food portions especially the taco plates which included 3 street tacos for $16 plus an additional $3.50 for shrimp/crab tacos. Plates did not include any rice/beans which was an additional $8. The menu items are quite pricey for the portion size. All in cost for 20 people for lunch was over $1025 including gratuity, about $50 pp.
The service was great, however, we were seated in a separate area away from the main restaurant and had no AC. It was very hot and humid. But once I addressed the issue, they turned on the AC and we felt somewhat comfortable.
Food was great, love the frozen horchata. Good service, we’ll be back again soon!
Although the ambiance is nice, the menu is limited and the food was mediocre compared to Javier's.
My friends and I went to Puestos for girls night. The restaurant is decorated really fun and inviting. The food it really good but the service was a little slow. We had to ask multiple time to get water refills as well as salsa. The salsa never came. And it took a long time to get our check at the end of the night. Overall our experience was very enjoyable.
Always good! Ask for the monthly taco. We tried the plantains this time and they did not disappoint.
It was very hot, the doors where open and it felt like no AC was able to keep the restaurant cool. It was also very loud. The waiter was ok, seemed to get confused. Also was a little ride when we asked for another salsa.
This was my second time dining here. The food is wonderful and the decor is really cool as well. Great place for Happy hour.
Just love the shrimp and mushroom tacos and margaritas.
Terrible food. Sloppy plating. LOVE the Puesto location in Irvine on Michelson, but we had a horrible experience at this location...it’s as if they are two completely different restaurants. The presentation was awful, food was sloppy, and while we knew beforehand Puesto is ridiculously expensive for what you get, this place wasn’t even close to worth it. Our tacos were absolutely soaked and the tortillas were falling apart, receiving the response, “that’s how that item comes.” Never again. New management needed at this location.
We've been regulars since they opened. Food is always terrific and the staff are very friendly. Just a great place for great food...as long as you can handle the spice :)
