To be fair, the food was ok but the service was so bad that it made it hard to enjoy the food. Used to be one of our favorite places but this experience was terrible.
Bougie tacos at its best! I highly recommend the veduras taco. Cheesy and interesting.
Service was very bad, seems like most places they are short staffed right now.
Food is yummy. Several vegetarian/vegan choices. Margaritas yummy. Weirdly attractive wait staff. Service was prompt and friendly even though we were in between shifts. Had to ask for small plates for shared appetizers and remained on the table throughout dinner. Otherwise very nice.
Terrible service. Took friend who is vegetarian, raving how they could accommodate her. Chips and salsa were great! (Asked for more salsa two twice, and it never came...) After we ordered, did not see our waitress again u til end of the meal. Friend's vegetarian bowl came with carnitas added to it. Took 10 min (!) to flag someone to come over to our table. Asked for another vegetarian bowl. I mean, mistakes happen. Vegetarian bowl ones back pretty quickly. My friend sug through the bowl looking for meet. Found one piece of carnitas! Waitress finally came back. Barely apologized for the initial mistake. Asked for more water (a second time as well as the second request for salsa.). Nothing. The waitress made her last appearance at the table with the bill. The food was good, but if you have any type of food sensitivity I wouldn't trust them to manage it. Also, if you like to have frequent service, this did not ring my bell. If you like meat, and want a long leisurely meal with great food, this is the place!
If you are looking for a quick service do not come here. My party of 3 waited about 2 hours for our food to come out. Our waitress was a doll and was able to get us complimentary corn and extra chips while we waited, but when our food finally did come out it was just mediocre to be honest- for the price and for how long it took I was thinking it was gonna be something really special and it was just average. Avoid going on busy weekends if you’re going to go I guess.
Dinner with bridesmaids
We had a lovely reunion dinner with old friends. We sat outside and the weather was perfect. The service was excellent and the food too.
Great food! Great service! Great time!
Loved it!! Recommend
We were so looking forward to dining again at Puesto, and this time we were more blown away than before. Service was fantastic, but the tacos, out of this world! Don’t sleep in the quesobirria. The Mango margarita is my all time favorite drink from here. Make a res, and be sure to be hungry.
We had a team happy hour outing in the San Diego location yesterday. Service was fabulous and the drinks and food were amazing.
My experience at the Mission Valley location was much better. The chicharrones arrived room temp, stale and hard… very disappointing. The tacos were good.
It was my first time. We were seated within 10 minutes of our reservation. The waiter was prompt and patient. We were checked on often. We weren’t rushed to finish and get the check. The quesobirria taco was fire! Loved it! Guacamole was fresh. I will definitely return.
Used to be a place we looked forward to eating at. Not anymore. Quality has gone downhill, service was questionable at best. Overpriced when there are so many other great places for tacos in San Diego,
I’m a local and took two friends there Sunday mid afternoon for early dinner. We had a wonderful waitress named Deja. Very attentive. I gave a three star rating because I feel the portions are too small for the price being charged. My one friend ordered the mushroom taco and simply could not eat it as it was mushy and a had peculiar taste. Déjà removed the taco from our bill which we appreciated. Not sure I’ll return any time soon.
Best tacos! Filet mignon yum. Margaritas are good and guacamole with pomegranate are candied pecans are fantastic.
Outstanding food. Friendly staff and good service. Will look forward to visiting this restaurant again and again.
It seemed like no servers knew what the table numbers were. Multiple tables including ours got the wrong items delivered. We witnessed a drink get brought to the wrong table, then ten minutes later the customers let her know that it wasn’t the right drink. Then we overheard a table say they had not gotten that same type of drink (they had been waiting their entire stay there, and they were already eating) and the woman tried to give them the drink that came from the other table!!!! Then when the customers said “didn’t that just come from the other table?” And the girl said “oh yeah… sorry, I’ll go get you a new one.” And I watched her go to her coworker, with their backs turned to that table, the girl handed the drink and tray to her coworker, and then they delivered that same drink back to the customers pretending like they had remade it. I was absolutely shocked. I’m in the service industry and that was just really appalling that they’d do that in the middle of the restaurant. Drinks and food came out at all different times, so my son was done eating by the time the adult’s food came. Which was odd. We also witnessed a man who was dining alone go to the bathroom, they started bussing his table in the middle of him sitting there. He had two diff drinks nearly full, and a whole basket of chips still. The table was completely biased which means the guy put his hands all over the customers drink and chips and food or whatever. Then the girl came over and was like “no no he’s in the bathroom still he’s still here.” And then they quickly set the table back up after they had touched everything and thrown it all on a tray. I swear I’ve been to this place so many times and have never seen any of these things happen. But the amount of errors we noticed and food and health code violations that were committed in the open really worries me about what’s happening behind the scenes.
Delicious cocktails, crunch chips, and tasty tacos! Menu recommends 3 tacos, but they're larger than street size, so with chips and salsa, you only really need 2.
Love Puesto tacos for their flavor combinations--the birria one was full of tender sauced meat--so good. Had the mushroom one in La Jolla and loved it but here it was all one kind of mushroom and did not measure up. The veggie one Verdura, just did not do it for me...some small hard chunks (potato?) so would not order again.
The real disappointment was the Pina Colada--where's the coconut taste? Not in this beautiful looking drink with a tasty toothpick garnish.
Our server was quick and clever and she found a pillow to spare me yet another hard metal chair. What is it with restaurants and their uncomfortable metal chairs. All diners deserve a seat that is comfortable.
We love you Puesto, but tonight was just not our night.
One of our favorite places in San Diego! I’m vegan and they make it so easy for me to go with non-vegans. Everyone is happy, and the Cucumber margarita hit the spot!
Server Jenna went out of her way to make sure we had an exceptional visit. Ask for her!!
Meh, the tacos are good. But they need to pressure wash the ground in the patio seating area.
Love the food! Taco mushroom.and lobster were superb. Especially loved the watermelon margarita.
It took forever for the adults at the table to receive their food. After seeking a general manager to find out what’s going on, we were advised by the GM that the kitchen was backed up. I’m a strong believer of transparency! The waiter should have at least stayed in touch with our table and communicated what the delay was.
Food was amazing, ambiance was amazing. It was really busy so the service was a little slow but they gave me a a little cake for my birthday and we all had the absolute best time!
Had a great time during happy hour catching up with old friends.
Fine ingredients, including many organic items, line-caught fish, wild shrimp and flavorful preparation are most important for us, and we found them here. Especially tasty were the Chicken Pastor tacos, the Ceviche, and the black beans. The beer was also good. Less impressive were the margaritas--much too sweet, so they tasted as if they are made from mixes, rather than fresh ingredients. Be sure to make reservations, as this is a very busy place with long waits for walk-in customers.
The food was very good . Last time we ate there, the waiter was extra friendly and very accommodating. This time, we ordered a guacamole appetizer and it was thrown on our table by the server. Our waiter was very nice, but when we tried to order some customized burritos, we were told that wasn’t possible. We returned to this restaurant because we had such a good experience the first time. This time wasn’t as good.
Server YaYa (Yajaira) was extraordinary. Warm and welcoming and helpful with the menu. We were entertaining out-of-town business associates and our downtown dinner made them fall in love with San Diego. They especially enjoyed the dogs on the patio. (I guess that's not a Texas thing.)
Very noisy, but fantastic food and a terrific server (Selena)!
I love this place. Every time we are in San Diego we eat here. The filet mignon tacos are the absolute best.
Our waiter is pleasant and very accommodating to our request. Pork rinds are crispy, but make sure you finish before it gets cold. Salsa set allows me to sample various flavors with the chips. Tacos (Filet mignon, carnitas) were delicious. Drinks (margaritas) were heavy on the ice: less than half-glass liquid with ice removed.
Nice setting and ambiance but very expensive. Not the best buy for tacos.
The noise level was actually too loud. I enjoy hearing the people that I am having a meal with.
We had made our reservations like they offer and still were made to wait almost 30 mins after realizing they forgot about us. Very busy location. Not very friendly or helpful. Very disappointed. Check out their other locations in mission valley instead or LA jolla. Staff is much more competent
Outstanding Food… Great Palomas! Every time we are in San Diego.. we go to Puesto!!
It was really busy that night so it took longer than expected to get food which was understandable. However our waitress did not check on us often.
