Public at the Brickyard

Shrimp & Grits
(rotating special) shrimp, andouille sausage & roasted red pepper sauce over cheddar grits topped with a poached egg
Good place, but meals were over priced.
There is a pinball machine in the entrance area that is quite loud and distracting if you are seated near the entrance. The filet I ordered was tough, I’ve had better meals at the Public.
Excellent farm to table menu. Nice variety so there is something for everyone. Our table had Smash Burgers, Margherita Pizza and Hummus plate.
The drinks we had (Ski Trip and Lavendar Lemonata) were fantastic and our server, Shae, (she was wonderful) even clued me in to the type of cherry in mine.
We had a great experience and will definitely be back.
Great food and service. as always a place I can go to with family or friends and get a great experience.
Just a weekday date with my wife. We enjoy the food, drinks, service and atmosphere.
For the area the food was decent but portions surprisingly small
Celebrated a co-workers birthday. I hadn’t asked to be outside but, the weather was perfect! The host was very accommodating when we asked to switch. Perfect evening!
We loved Public! We were driving through town on a 10-hr road trip on our anniversary and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Get the cornbread! And the bison/beef sliders! And the bread pudding! We suggested to the staff that they consider adding a new dessert item to their menu — toasted cornbread, drizzled w honey and a small scoop of vanilla ice cream (yes, we looooved the cornbread that much). Next time we’re passing through town, we’ll be stopping here.
Great food in a great environment!
The food was good. Service was fantastic. The portions were small in our opinion but I think it is due the type of restaurant it is. Farm to Table themes seem to have smaller portions.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who asks, but it just wasn't our type of place.
this has got to be the loudest restaurant in Wichita!!
Food and cocktails were excellent as usual. Service was a little slow but the place was packed and there was a wedding rehearsal dinner so it was to be expected.
Wonderful wait person! She was very, very knowledgeable about the menu. I’m gluten-free, and she was able to direct me to what I could order. Unlike many restaurants in Wichita, Public has a decent number of g-f choices. Nice to be able to order something other than a salad.
In town for the night from OKC and so glad we found this gastropub! Great service, excellent food and an urban casual feel. Highly recommend!
Decent place, food wasn’t anything special. I feel like it would be much better during warmer weather and if you’re 21 or over
This meal at Public was as good as they always are: the team takes everything they do, including pickling their own vegetables, seriously. That means that every meal I’ve had there, from shrimp and grits to a burger, has been memorable and crafted. My husband and I were hosting friends for dinner and do that public would be a sure thing in terms of service, suit quality and interesting cocktails.
So tasty! Excellent daily menu and delightful specials.
Always eat here when in Wichita. Usually not much if any of a wait. Food is great with a constantly changing menu of interesting dishes. Great vegetarian options and craft cocktails. Good Wines. Can't say enough.
Love it! You guys are amazing. Please keep doing what you’re doing!
If you like great ambience, stellar service and great food you can't go wrong here. They have unique and tasty appetizers that sets them apart from most restaurants in DooDah. The Smoked Salmon Cakes and Hot Honey Glazed Pork Belly are some of my favorites. When it comes to main course items the maple reduction and cardamom cream make the Chicken and Waffles a must try. I also highly recommend Shrimp and Grits. To wash it all down they have a great selection of craft beers, many local. Take my advice and give Public a try if you haven't been yet.
We are from out of town - this is our third visit, and its always good! Particularly like the large number of new/special items everytime we arrive. Wait staff is always pleasant and well informed. We will be back.
Our daughter was in town so we took her and my parents for dinner. Fun to show off old town and the creative space at Public - alwya fun to show all old town has to offer!
Table was not ready when they said it would be ready.
Hostess and management handled it poorly. We were a big party and communication was bad.... we waited 45min for our table.
Every time some poll of Wichita diners suggests we need a Cheesecake Factory or some other cookie-cutter chain I want to grab those people by the collar, lock 'em in The Public, and let them experience for themselves how outstanding locally sourced, creatively prepared, attentively presented, and wonderfully tasty Wichita food can be.
We loved the salmon Benedict and our waitor was so fun!! So fresh and quick service.
My husband and I went there for the first time for a dinner date before a movie. The wait staff was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable when we asked for details about some dishes. Everything tasted amazing! I felt very comfortable there, dressy casual dining. I really enjoyed how they chose to use ingredients you can find within the city of Wichita (like using Bagatelle buns and breads) and how they listed that they were using cheese from Kansan Farm cows. I thought maybe it was a little on the pricey side, but reasonably so considering how much care they put into their food and their ingredients selection. We will definitely be going back. I would highly recommend this place to friends and/or family and we hope to be bringing more people with us when we visit next!
Great food & service.
Awesome food. Our server, Hannah, was fantastic! Made good suggestions and was at our table the perfect amount of time - able to be sure we had everything we needed and drink refills but not enough to interfere with our conversation. Definitely will come back!
Went last Friday 2/16 on a friend's recommendation. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. We shared the Mediterranean appetizer, I had the steak burger and my wife had the side salad with grilled chicken. Portions were big and delicious. This is a very neat place to go.
Food is excellent, service was good as well. They had an issue with the keg for the beer I ordered, but I got a beer for free so i can't really complain. The place is pretty noisy, but that's to be expected on the weekend in Old Town. My one major complaint is the dudes bathroom situation. It's a single, and was occupied any time I tried to use it. It's also located right beside a stand up table area, and people acted a bit annoyed at me after I tried going in a couple of times.
Was visiting from out of town — food okay (fries not crisp, Cremer brûlée not warm) service slow. Nice atmosphere.
This is one of my go to places in Wichita. Great for a date, drinks, or everyday dinning. Good menu with plenty to
choose from 😉
Never had been to Wichita so we researched this spot and were very impressed! It will be one of our go to spots when we return! Many thanks!
Our server didn’t come ask if we wanted another beer. He waited until we were about done with our meal before refilling our water. I witnessed him take out the trash and then come in and grab the water pitcher to refill our water glasses without washing his hands first. This was off putting and not acceptable. The restaurant was very empty, he could have been more attentive. Out tip reflected our service.
It was a lovely experience and I will dine there again 😊
Wow. If you are into new experiences the Thai Pie was mind blowing. Our server was phenominal and we never had an empty glass. Kudos to Public at The Brickyard.
Public is a quaint place with a unique decor. The salad is fresh with lots of flavor. The pizza has a homemade taste and crisp with unusual toppings that come together to make it very tasty. It was a bit too noisy. I can't wait to go back!
Super tasty food! Great atmosphere! Inventive food and drinks too!
Host, bartenders and servers are all very friendly and helpful. Good drinks and good food. It was a Valentine's Day date and upon arrival (about 10min before my Open Table reservation) the host told me that she didn't have a reservation for me and that someone else had come in a little earlier and the same thing happened. She told us she could seat us in 10min or so and directed us to the bar. By the time we decided what we wanted to drink and received our drinks the table was ready. We did have to tab out with the bartender before going to our table instead of transferring the tab but I understand that is the policy some places. Overall very good. I've been here before and will be back.
