Provisional Kitchen, Café & Mercantile, open for daily for brunch and select evenings for dinner. Provisional is a sprawling, sunlit communal dining space featuring a Vittoria Coffee espresso bar, bistro tables, and a retail space set within a greenhouse, where guests can shop a curated collection of homeware, ceramics, apothecary items, pantry staples, and jewelry.

Provisional serves some of the best cuisine in the city, featuring favorites such as housemade pasta, woodfire-oven baked pizza and Italian-inspired entrées; our lively brunch features bottomless mimosas and seasonal creations.

    The restaurant itself is pretty, I liked the bench/couch seating area. Minus a couple ripped parts, overall it’s a cute dining area. I am celiac and can’t have gluten and they were able to accommodate my requests so that is always a plus! However, the food overall was below average at best. While I am always hesitant to leave a not so favorable review on places that accommodate allergies , the gluten free pizza tasted something along the lines as those ‘make your own pizzas’ you got as a kid. Sauce was barely warm, mozzarella was rubber and overall the flavor was nowhere to be found. We also ordered the ribeye and the steak had absolutely zero flavor as well, even with the chimichurri sauce was not enough to save it and did not justify the price tag that came with it. With so many amazing steak choices in the area this was not a meal that would bring me back here. My family was able to eat their house rolls and they said they were absolutely delicious. We were on an extreme time crunch and starving otherwise, to be honest, I would have sent everything back. I do know they are more known for their brunch so maybe I will go back to try that but unfortunately I can’t say this experience left a good impression with me.

    Loved our meal but it took awhile to arrive. We had explained we had concert plans. The restaurant didn’t seem that busy. Lovely building with friendly staff. They make a great espresso martini!

    Nam was an exceptional server! Food was fantastic and ambiance and drinks were amazing as well. Came here for a Mother’s Day brunch for my mom and I feel like they treated her extra special! Highly recommend.

    Had an unfortunate experience. Drink from bar was terrible, tasted like medicine. Pasta was undercooked making the meal inedible. Hot Honey Pizza was excellent!! Just believe had an unfortunate experience with the drink and pasta.

    Great ambiance inside. Filet mignon and mussels were good. Avoid the GF pizza crust as it is like eating tomato sauce and cheese on a large cracker. Service was friendly, but slower than typical due to busy Friday evening crowds. We will consider dining there again the next time we have a Gaslamp event.

    Just three days after having one of the best lunches ever, I was a bit disappointed in the breakfast. I felt like I had to seek everything from the server, from the initial coffee, to a refill, to getting salt and pepper to getting the bill. He rarely visited the table unless I flagged one of his counterparts. The breakfast itself was good. The pork sausage was a bit meh.
