Great service and delicious food! Highly recommend
First - the good. The maî·tre d' was exceptional. When our waiter didn’t offer a kids menu and my daughter didn’t like the pre fixe Thanksgiving dinner, she noticed and came over to offer butter noodles. She was fantastic.
However, everything else was average, if not poor. It’s tough right now during Covid, so this review may be an outlier.
Our waiter was bad. Barely saw him. Told us there was no kids menu when we asked (not true). Even after offering to pay the same pre fixe price for kids food he said no. Then we essentially were left alone for the entire meal. The back up staff was good. They seemed to be covering up for the waiters’s shortcomings.
Poor wine selection for a high end restaurant. Also, the markups were rather extreme for the level of quality. They need a new sommelier or purchaser if they are catering to higher end clients.
Food was average.
I love this hotel, and I hope this was a fluke because I will be back. It was Thanksgiving dinner during Covid which I am sure is tough. Also, it may be that living in Napa makes me expect a little more out of a restaurant experience.
I never do reviews. I only did this because I want to be helpful.
The food are service were great. It's a beautiful spot downtown.
This is one of our favorite spots that we love visiting whenever we are in San Diego. The service and food are just perfect. 🥂💛
Took my wife here for her 35th birthday weekend getaway. The Pendry hotel as a whole was classy and amazing! They upgraded our room because AC went out and they knew we were celebrating my wife’s bday. The restaurants were amazing. Especially The Provisional. The director of the front office told us we could eat there for BFast, lunch or dinner and anything we would order would be amazing. She was right! Food came out promptly, was fresh and delicious, every bite. We didn’t even need to leave the hotel to celebrate with a n amazing gourmet classy dinner. Go here!!!
Everything was amazing. The only thing is it would have been nice to be by a heat lamp. I made the reservation weeks in advance and we were staying at the hotel, so that was a bit of a bummer that they couldn’t accommodate. However, that same day San Diego went in the purple tier so I understand everyone is scrabbling to get enough seating outside.
Very classy and clean restaurant. Felt fantastic eating there, will definately recommend and will go back in future!
Good service, great food. Enjoyed the experience..
Been there 5 times fir bottomless mimosa brunch I have always had geat service, the staff looks and acts very professional and they seem to actually try harder than most places. Brunch food isn’t very good but the vibe and service makes up for it
All around amazing!! Thank you for giving us and our girls an amazing experience at your establishment!
Pendry offers breakfast in bed deal where you eat at Provisional for brunch. Food was 'okay.' Next time I would rather eat else where.
Greatest service ever
Great food and drinks but terrible service. There was hardly anyone there but it took forever for our waiter to arrive and he was not very attentive during our meal. With all the choices of places to eat in the area you’d think the service would be spectacular.
Our server is the best! I forgot to get her name but she was very attentive and very nice. We ordered the breakfast pizza and it is good but not exceptional, it was just okay. The avocado toast is also average so for the price I think it is quite expensive for a basic avocado toast, much better if they put smoked salmon and mozarella cheese. The crepe is good but again nothing special that will set it apart from the others. But the ambiance is really nice and sophisticated.
Chef Dara is amazing! We love the food so much!
Amazing food and service, went there for my sons b-day
Celebrated our anniversary here with some brunch and everything was amazing! Alex our wonderful waiter went above and beyond to make our special day perfect!
This was our first time. The food and service were top-notch.
Amazing food! Restaurant was beautiful and our server Ceasar B was FANTASTIC!!! 10/10!!! Highly recommend!!
Amazing experience. Great atmosphere, great food & a very professional server. Highly recommend this restaurant if you’re in Gaslamp!
Great spot with good food and service! Everyone was really attentive.
Excellent skirt steak and fingerling potatoes. A good wine list and wonderful service in a grand space. Very mindful of Covid restrictions. A favorite in San Diego!
Very nice waitress. Outdoor nice. peaceful protesters totally fine. Food was average. Didn’t taste great and didn’t fill anyone up.
Had a fantastic brunch. Request the pesto breakfast potatoes! They were fabulous. Excellent and quick service .
I love your vegan options! I’d also enjoy seeing a vegan bean option. So good though!!
Food and service was great! I just wish that the outdoor posted menu had some type of barrier behind it. I wasn’t a fan of tourist standing right in front of my table breathing on me :(
COVID definitely changes the dining experience with having to eat outside but our server was so fantastic and the food was really great.
Failed at Covid awareness. Failed completely to protect this diner from Covid exposures. Our table on the sidewalk was 1-2 feet from passing unmasked public and next to the menu board and hostess station. We asked for a table away from busy areas. My food and face were exposed to every passing public passersby.
We have Sunday brunch and Saturday Happy Hour drinks there every time we stay at the hotel.
Friendliest restaurant in the Gas Lamp district.
Marissa and Nam were excellent servers-professional and experienced.
Daniella (Food and Beverage Manager) always comes to our table to check in with us. She seems to know many of the customers.
You can tell the entire staff treat each other like family and are very accommodating to their customers.
Go to restaurant for us each time we are in San Diego.
This review is written during a time when restaurants are open but all seating must be outside or open air. We have eaten here before and the food is delicious. I has the Waygu skirt steak and it was cooked to perfection. We started with the squash blossoms which are always a hit. The tables outside are nice and the weather beautiful so it was a great atmosphere. We waited a long time for service and even longer for food - not sure if staffing is difficult at the moment but it was well beyond a comfortable wait. While we were there, a rally was taking place, it was a Yoga for BLM, they walked down the street on the other side of the barriers from our table. It was peaceful and was fun to feel like a part of the action. However, if you like to avoid those types of events, keep an eye out for rally info and times. The participants were in very close proximity to tables of outdoor diners from all of the restaurants in the area.
The food was amazing! I ordered the local catch which was salmon. My girls ordered the chicken, pasta dish, and eggplant dish which I tasted all and they were fantastic as well. The serving sizes were kinda small. I had to pull through McDonalds after for a lil snack lol. As it was last call at the restaurant and the dessert menu wasn't appealing to any of us. Overall I would go back here, next time id get an appetizer with the meal and plan a place after for dessert.
Great vibe, food, and they also took care of our dog.
Second time going to provisional
Last time we visited San Diego we said it a must place. It didn’t disciplined. Keep up the good work
Family brunch outside was a WIN! Great service, great space, great food... all around great experience!
Great food, great drinks and outdoor dining was the best!
Lovely outdoor dining with varied menu (went there for a late breakfast/early lunch). Great attention to CV19 safety precautions.
Great food and service and cleanliness
Our group of five went to eat dinner on a Saturday during covid when all seating is outdoors and Provisional had a very nice and welcoming atmosphere. The food and service were equally excellent. Our table shared a pepperoni pizza for appetizer and that was very delicious!! The chicken and orzo was an excellent dish, as was the seabass (catch of the day) on top of risotto. I had The Green Machine which was super yummy! Nam was our waiter and he couldn't have represented The Pendry any better than he did. We will be back because of him. And the food. And the atmosphere. Bravo!
