Providence is experimental, seafood-focused fine dining that's absolutely worth the price of admission.
Everything was terrific but after 12 courses I couldn’t figure out why they serve more 3 deserts and a chess.
It was over.
superbe service qui dépassent les attentes! ma deuxième visite!
Fantastic. . . Magical. . .but please be upfront about the entire party's needing to order the same tasting menu and that some dietary restrictions may complicate/limit choices for the entire table.
This is my fourth time here and always a great experience. Staff is always attentive and they catered to my family which had two small children. Food was excellent as always and the wine list is extensive. Hope to be back soon!
Amazing, decadent, and extraordinary
The food is awesome and the experience is perfect. I choose the tasting menu with pairing and selected the duck. I've never eaten in my all life a duck breast so tender and moist...
The chef compliments were fantastic and the caviar was great!! The cod was raw half way through and the duck was so over cooked, had no flavor that you had to chew so much before you could swallow!
We asked if we were drinking tap water or sparkling (whilst we had order a bottle of still)
I would of loved to of ordered the cheese plate that was on the menu but never even got the chance as dessert was just given to me.
Providence offers the finest dining experience one could hope to have. The service was outstanding and the food was exquisite. I've dined at most of the best restaurants in LA, and Providence tops them all.
Flawless ... from start to finish.
This is a first class gourmet restaurant with outstanding service. A rare find!
Our experience was overall positive. Very pleasant interactions with the sommelier and service staff. The anniversary card was a nice touch. The starter of fresh edibles and the mussels with uni cream was a great way to kick things off.
We did the chefs tasting menu. Some real stand outs. The mirugai/live scallop topped with caviar was fantastic as was the spot prawn. The cheese course was also a stand out.
The only stumble was the sardine which I enjoyed by the rest of the table found salty and fishy. Also, the Wagyu beef was too busy for my liking. A cut of beef like that should be able to stand on its own.
Overall a nice dinner, but very pricey.
We were offered the Chef’s table and chose the seasonal menu, EVERYTHING was superb! A true delight, everyone was extremely nice with not a hint of pretentiousness. We wii be back for sure.
Great dinner but we were full after the 8th course because the dinner took 4 hours! There were only 2 of us. The 7 course signature menu might have been better than the chefs menu because the A5 Wagyu was by far the best part of the meal and with the chefs menu the piece is much smaller than on the other less expensive menu!
Best food in la
Great food and spectacular wine list. Service was impeccable.
One of the top three dining experiences I have ever had. Providence has two Michelin stars and is worthy of more. A perfect evening from the knowledgeable and courteous staff, to the beautifully prepared dishes. Impeccable music selection. Even fresh baked muffins to take home for a morning reminder of a wonderful dining experience.
An excellent evening on all accounts. My wife and I visited Providence for our 13th Wedding Anniversary and we were not disappointed. Wife and I were pleasantly greeted and shown directly to our table despite being 20 minutes early. After being seated the hostess brought over an anniversary welcome card for us which had our names and a neat well wish for us both. We certainly thought this was an excellent touch. We ordered the Chef's Tasting menu which introduced us both to another level of fine dining by which we will undoubtedly measure our future dining outings against with Provindence being the very qualified measure. Across an 11- course tasting menu, there were a few standouts, Waygu beef, Black Cod, Santa Barbara spot prawns, Japanese sourced sea scallop with caviar. So many excellent palette-pleasing bites left my wife and I satisfied and utterly appreciative of the whole experience.
Everything was perfect.
Providence never disappoints. It’s great that you can now add on a la carte items (such as Santa Barbara spot prawns) to the tasting menu. This restaurant sets the standard in Los Angeles when it comes to the creativity of the menu, respect for the finest and freshest of ingredients, and impeccable service.
What a wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The wait staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Every course was beautiful and delicious.
We were incredibly impressed by Providence. The service was absolutely outstanding!! Attentive and informative, but also warm and engaging. Every dish showed so much care taken with the ingredients! We had dinner on a Sunday evening after a rather full weekend of dining, so we opted for the three course tasting. Two additional appetizer courses arrived first and really worked to excite our taste buds - a crudité dish that was anything but ordinary. Ice plants and baby carrots and radishes still wearing their green leafy fronds served with a dipping sauce of toasted sesame and soy. Fun and delicious! The second appetizer was a one bite crab tart served with an elegant sipping glass of warm crab stock. The wine pairings for our main dishes worked perfectly - a white wine from Jura with sashimi cubes of yellowtail, a Hondarrabi white wine from Basque served with day boat scallops in a fragrant vadouvan sauce, and a Grignolino from Heitz Cellars alongside the halibut topped with black truffle sauce. This was our first visit to Providence, but certainly not our last. The creativity and care of the dishes was on par with Le Bernardin! My only regret is that I didn't have enough of an appetite to enjoy the robust cheese cart that was wheeled tableside. Next time!
You must like seafood. One of our favorite restaurants in LA (Michelin 2 or 3 stars worthy).
Great wine tasting experience for our 7-year wedding anniversary!
Food was amazing but service was ok
Wonderful anniversary dinner. Wine list is amazing. Service was impeccable. Food was exceptional!
Wow! Food is to die for !
We loved our meal at Providence. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. We came for our anniversary and it was so special. We will definitely be back!
Way way way too expensive. Mediocre food. Great service. Will never ever go back
Awesome food and awesome wine!
I've been a loyal customer for years.
However, I decided not to pay Providence another visit in the future due to the dropping quality and the sloppy quality control.
I took my girlfriend here on 03/17/2018 because this place used to be her favorite spot for French cuisine, but the overall experience we had that night? Terrible.
We ordered the seasonal menu, and three of them were complete disasters.
The first one was the Uni egg - the one in the eggshell.
The only two tastes I got from this dish were sour and garlic taste. I could not taste the uni nor the egg. epic fail.
The second disaster was the steam fish with the clams. The only taste I got was bitterness.
Not only they overcooked the wine but also burnt the fish skin. Could not taste the seafood at all, and I had to have two full cups of water to get rid of the bitterness.
The last disaster was the Wagyu beef. It was the most expensive dish on the seasonal menu, and the Providence chef had to burn the wagyu. The burnt end should add flavor to the beef. However, when I could only taste the burnt part instead of the wagyu, I rather there was no burnt end at all.
I've been a customer since 2010 and was first amazed. However, the quality really drops a lot especially in the past two years.
Not coming back for sure.
My husband and I had been dying to try this place, and it was well worth the wait. We did the largest tasting menu, and every single dish was incredible. It also included an additional four or five amouse-bouche courses before the meal even started. It's very dark and quiet, and the staff is super attentive, so you definitely feel like a VIP. My one suggestion is to get the cheese cart option. It might have been my favorite part!
Overpriced for its food. Nothing too special...meh
Best restaurant we’ve been to by far. Service goes above and beyond
This is our yearly restaurant for our anniversary dinner. We’ve been coming for years and LOVE IT!
An incredible experience in every way!!
I represent the interests of multiple chefs with multiple Michelin stars, National and regional Beard Foundation awards, etc. Our meal on Tuesday, even without Chef Cimarusti actually at the pass, ranked among the best I have ever had, in every dimension. Certainly as to the food and its presentation, but also the service, which was seamless, informative, fun and virtually invisible all at once. A pitch-perfect evening all around. A truly memorable dining experience, and well worth every penny spent.
The service was excellent and the food was phenomenal! It is quite pricey, but for such high quality and intricate dishes, it was worth it!
This was my third visit to Providence. I don't think it is necessary for me to ever go back. First, they seem to judge you when you walk in. We arrived at 5:30 and the main dining room was pretty empty but we were seated in what I call the riff raff room. I guess they thought we'd be drooling on ourselves or something because of the way we looked? We were dressed nicely BTW but not in designer labels. When they had called to confirm our reserveration they asked if there were food allergies and yes one of us is allergic to bell peppers. They served food with bell peppers in the broth and pressured the allergic person to eat it because it was very little and you couldn't taste it. Wrong. There are so many other great restaurants in LA that have great food why would we ever return?
