Everything was great. Food was delicious. The portions were good size, not overly large. I was able to finish it all and not feel stuffed.
Had a wonderful time at prohibition with my family. Food is delicious! Love the shrimp and grits. Ambiance is very cool - it is a little loud, but that didn’t bother us. - very cool vibe - the speak easy theme is very prominent. - it’s also kind of dark - feels exclusive and secretive. Highly recommend.
You just need to be ok with noise and dim lights - again, we loved that part about it because it went with the vibe
Also, picante margarita is out of this world.
Everything was good
I am so in love with the menu at Prohibition! I may spend months trying to recreate the amazing kale, watermelon and golden beet salad I had last night but it will keep me remembering the amazing meal that capped off the amazing vacation. My family and I shared multiple items from the sharables menu - wings, ribs, salad(!),street corn - and the portion sizes were as generous as the dishes were creative and flavorful. I can imagine the atmosphere is a little tamer than usual on Sunday afternoons but the place was bustling and the kitchen and bar were lightning fast!
The live music on Sunday was fantastic. I had the Burger and it was above average. I was here 3 years ago and the quality of drinks from then till no has gone down a bit. THe bartenders 3 years ago made sure that you had an amazing experience and created each cocktail with such Craft and talent. I felt like this time the bartenders were not “in love” with making us a great cocktail.
Make sure you make a reservation
We ate there for a Sunday brunch;
Service was excellent
Food was delicious
Steak and eggs were on point
Live music was fun 🤩
Check it out if you have time while on King street!
Everything about this experience was outstanding. Thank you Paige for remembering what we were drinking and for the great service 😂
Great food, great service, great ambience! Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Charleston. Was my favorite restaurant of our trip.
Great food. Accommodating to help us be away from loud parties.
Service was great! We were seated quickly and our server came right over. Gave food and drink recommendations. The shrimp and grits was delicious!
Best angus beef burger I have ever eaten. It was topped with cheddar cheese, bourbon bacon jam, onion ring, lettuce, tomato & pickles. Delicious!
The food, atmosphere and service was incredible. I had the best shrimp and grits I’ve ever eaten, and the beignets were outstanding!
Great service and unique food. Highly recommend.
Great service. Friendly people. Excellent food. But got eaten alive sitting outside.
Food was delicious!!! Service was wonderful!!! Great ambiance!!!
Great restaurant and good drinks. We came with kids and it was still a win
Took a little walk up King Street to Prohibition for light supper. Interesting interior of old building much dark wood and metal ceilings. Local briny oysters and very good hamburger. Best Sazerac I’ve had in Charleston. Good choice! Thanks to our server, Morgan, for her attentive care of us. Made our visit very comfortable.
Our entire experience was excellent. My husband and I arrived an hour early for our 7 pm reservation and sat at the bar while we waited for our table to become available. Ryan, our mixologist, is an artist at his craft. We told him what we liked and he made a few drinks for us, which were amazing!
When our table became available, we were ushered to the back of the restaurant and outside. I initially thought it would be too hot but it was not, due to the canopy and fans—we recommend sitting out there.
For dinner, we tried quite a few things: oysters on the half shell (the pickle mignonette that came with the oysters—perfect!), chicken wings, smoked beef tartare (loved how the smoke differentiated itself from other beef tartare), heirloom tomato salad, Koji strip steak and the catch of the day-Swordfish. Every single item was DELICIOUS and each serving was generous.
We ended the evening with the coconut caramel beignets-we have never had Beignets this light or as good, as these Beignets.
Our server, Bryce, was attentive and perfect for us—he is the one of the best that we have had the opportunity to interact with.
We absolutely loved our night at Prohibition!
We had a 2:00pm reservation. We came to find out that only the brunch menu is available at that time which we did not want. We ordered the wings, shrimp and grits and steak and eggs. The wings and the shrimp and grits were great. Very tasty. The steak was awful. It was all fat. I am not one to send anything back at a restaurant but did not have a choice. My kids & I could not eat it. Staff was great about accommodating that. Do not think I will go back.
Brunch. Great chicken and biscuits. The shrimp and grits was awesome! Could have stayed and enjoyed the live music all day.
Not a great value for the price. Service was good but we had reservations and were placed at a tiny table up against the wall. Tables were very close to each other. Probably more fun just to go there for a drink after dinner.
Cool concept with awesome drinks and service. Very extensive drink menu not so much with the food menu. We had the ricotta bread appetizer and I definitely would not recommend that. The strip steak was excellent but the potato bed that it is served on, not so much. It had a very
excessive blue cheese taste. Hamburgers were very good and fries too. So in closing the food was very good and drinks were excellent. Go more for the drinks than the food.
We went for brunch on a Saturday. There was live music..which was the main reason for our choosing this restaurant. The food, music and service was amazing. Will definitely be back during our next visit to Charleston!
A burger is $19, but it is very good. The burger was the least expensive entree. This is a vacation area so expect to pay more. The service was outstanding. The service at almost every restaurant we visited on King Street was great. Prohibition was one of three restaurants we dined at twice. There was one other that was so good that we ate there three times. And, believe it or not, it was inside a hotel.
Staff excellent from bartenders to servers to hostesses. Ambience was relaxed and food was delicious. Definitely a return visit.
Lyric was a great waitress with great recommendations! Everyone was very nice, the food was great, and I can’t wait to go back.
We were seated on the patio and enjoyed a great night of dining. We both had the catch of the day (swordfish) and it was delicious. Our server was the best and we will definitely be back.
Brusque reception when we arrived
Patio was closed for a private event
Limited menu and prices were high $36 for the Catch of the Day - for relatively small plates
Hannah was an excellent server. Everything was delicious!
Great food and tasty drinks!
It was hard to believe a brunch location in the south had no iced tea and no iced coffee. The menu was small, plates came with no sides and they were out of a lot of items. The location is ideal, our server was nice and the patio was a cute setting but I otherwise would not recommend to a friend.
Perfect for groups + the patio in the back is really cute!!
We try and get to Charleston at least once a month for a date night and evening out. Prohibition certainly made this a night to remember.
Our pre-dinner drinks were amazing, and the bartender (the gentleman with the mask) was conversational, knowledgable, and a joy to interact with.
Dinner was even better. Our waitress was a gem, and the food.. the food was everything that we wanted and needed.
Thank you for a great evening; we will definitely be making prohibition a regular stop for us on our trips down.
So lovely! Awesome drinks and a delicious and unique menu.
I thought the burgers were high priced but my son and husband enjoyed them. I really liked the shrimp and grits. It could have used more grits. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves. Very good service!
Delicious shrimp and grits, and both of the signature cocktails we tried were fabulous. Nick was a great server too. For food or just drinks, I’d definitely recommend Prohibition.
This was the perfect Saturday brunch! We came and celebrated a birthday and the bluegrass band even sang happy birthday to us. The service was awesome and the food was delicious without breaking the bank!
Great dinner and service
Incredible! Highly recommend but get a reservation.
It’s very dark inside. More of a bar than a restaurant. The best salad was very good. Everything else was satisfactory.
