This place has great atmosphere, and the music was fun and festive. Our server was very efficient and attentive. The desserts are delicious.
Excellent food and drinks were creative. Brent provided excellent service!
Great place for a casual meal.
Food was great. We were looking for good southern low country cooking with a great bar. Servers were knowledgeable and attentive. Good value. Would definitely recommend.
Such a fun place! Loved the jazz/swing band on Saturday night. Cocktails and appetizers were delicious.
We went to Prohibition for a quiet anniversary dinner with live music. However, it was loud; more of an after-5 bar scene with young professionals. While the food was decent and service excellent, we won't be returning.
Drinks were outstanding, so delicious. Food and atmosphere was great too!
Host did not even acknowledge we were there for 10 minutes, another 10 minutes for a server in a loud, unattractive corner of the restaurant. We ended up leaving. Very limited menu and practically non-existent wine list. Incredibly disappointing.
The place provided a nice ambiance for a friends get together with live music playing in the background. My friends loved their Bloody Mary drinks and I truly enjoyed the Corned Beef Hash for brunch. Service was on par and staff was friendly. We loved it so much we decided to come back for cocktails that same evening. The Prohibition is definitely a little gem in the neighborhood.
Great food, amazing service. Band was fun! Definitely will go back.
Really enjoyed our dinner and the music, service was perfect and food was delicious. I had the blue crab on cornbread waffle special-awesome and the deviled eggs which were a great side. The rest of our party had the shrimp and grits, wings, Mexican Street corn and Brussels sprouts-all very delicious. Will come back next time we are in town!
Great food!!! The chicken is to die for!
The server was a bit rude. But the food and cocktails good.
Cocktails are very good and very original. Went downhill from there. Service was very lacking. Didn’t see our waitress much at all. My husband and I got the fresh catch, which was some type of white fish over a few squash noodles and 4 of the tiniest grittiest clams. The fish had no flavor. We left there hungry! Our bill was $100 and we each had the fresh catch and 1 drink each. Horrible to pay that much and walk out not satisfied AND hungry!
We were sat in time for our reservation and then we waited. And waited. And waited for our waiter. We saw him walk by several times, not knowing he was our waiter, and he NEVER acknowledged us, he was much more interested in waiting on the CofC college girls. SEVEN minutes later he was reminded head a table, he looked over his shoulder and said to the other, would then became our waiter “nah, I don’t want to deal with them, you can have it.” Well guess what, THAT guy got our tip and we’ll never be back because of your comments.
The Service, apart from that and with our new waiter was good. The food was not great, but decent and worth the value. I would NOT recommend this place as a dining spot but does look entertaining for music and drinking, unfortunately for them, they will never see any of our business.
Excellent meal and service. Oysters, soft shell crab special and Brussel sprouts for openers. Grouper and shrimp and grits for dinner. Delicious. Ended with bourbon and a few beignets. Super service provided by Ian who energetically guided us through our meal. Loved the live jazz music. Must see if you are in the neighborhood.
The restaurant was our favorite meal in the 5 days we were in Charleston. Our server Chris was very attentive and gave us great service. The only objection we had was smoking was happening at the bar and our table was nearby. We are used to restaurants that are no smoking in both California and Boston.
Prohibition must be highly underrated because there was absolutely no wait and everything was to die for. The drinks, while small, were mighty. We started with the Brussels and Pimento poppers which were to die for. Then all of our entrees were absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this place.
All I can say is amazing! The drinks were excellent, best Manhattan I've had out in a long time, the Vieux Carre was great! My wife and I split the appetizers (Gnocchi, Burratta) and the steak and brussel sprouts, all were exceptional. The beignets for dessert were a nice finish. The band played 20's and 30's music as a nice background to the meal.
We will return the next time we're in Charleston as this was a real treat!
We were visiting and looking for a good brunch place. The food was good and so was the atmosphere (though it was very dark in the back where we were sitting for noon on a Saturday). Would definitely recommend. There were several large bachelor/bachelorette groups that were easily accommodated so definitely good for groups as well.
The special, catch of the day, was terrific. We splurged on dessert chocolate mousse and donut holes, both enjoyable. Busy Friday night, loud, but a nice crowd.
My wife got shrimp and grits which was very good. I got the steak, which was cold and was not a good cut of meat. Grissle throughout and was not very flavorful. Worst $34 steak I’ve ever had
We were in Charleston for a girls weekend and Prohibition was highly recommended to us for good atmosphere and food. We had an 8:30 reservation for 5 people and arrived early for a drink at the bar first. We were seated all the way in the back of the restaurant by the back bar which would not have been our first choice because it's a totally different atmosphere than the front of the restaurant and we specifically made an 8:30 reservation so we could enjoy the live music. All was fine though and we went with it. We ordered 4 appetizers and another round of drinks and the waiter was great so far. Once our food came through, 2 people had ordered the shrimp and grits without the sauce because they don't eat pork and both orders came out smothered in the chorizo tomato sauce. The server offered to have it corrected "if we really wanted to". We didn't want to be a bother so they said they'd just pick around it. Not the end of the world. They but they spent almost $30 on a meal that they couldn't eat all of and he could have cared less. After dinner we ordered more drinks and a few desserts and were immediately brought the check. It was only 10:00 but we paid the check and all still had full drinks. Within 3 minutes 2 bussers came over without saying a word and picked up our table and moved it over about 3 feet and grabbed all of our drinks and cleared the table. Totally confused, I joking asked if we were being evicted and he simply replied, no but we need your table out of the way and took off with our drinks! We immediately found the manager, a woman named Samantha, and explained what happened. Her response was, I just started my shift and didn't see it happen so have no way of knowing if it really happened or not. So, she basically called us liars. We explained that we had just spent over $400 and asked her to replace two of the drinks that were taken from us and she refused and told us to email any complaints. Long story short, I will NEVER go here again!
Felt very rushed by our server - never offered desert - clearly trying to turn the table over to accommodate their bar scene - would not go back
How can you go wrong on St Patrick’s Day with Sean as your waiter! Wonderful meal and great atmosphere. Would go back again anytime.
Two words- simply delicious. The cocktails are fantastic. The food is amazing. We will most definitely come back.
Super delicious! The menu seems to be seasonal so don’t trust the open table menu that is shown but everything was amazing. We started with the Brussels sprouts and gnocchi and it was so delicious! Drinks were also amazing
Great food. Great drinks. Great service.
Outstanding experience and our server, Donna, was a delight!
Emma was an amazing server. She made our dinning experience memorable. Unfortunately it was her last night.
Great dinner and environment.
In town for the NCAA Rifle Championships. Picked Prohibition for Sunday brunch. Liked the food and service and they had live music. After eating we moved to the bar for a drink to listen to the music. Great selection of good bourbons and single malts. Friendly.
Food was excellent -shrimp and grits and eggs, biscuits and bacon hash. The bacon hash was outstanding. Service was good but impacted by an unexpected large party. I would definitely go back.
Great crafted cocktails. Server very in tune to menu and cocktails.
Terrific service. Malik was our waiter and was extremely friendly and helpful. Great ambiance. Not an overwhelming menu but plenty to choose from. We ordered the wings which were exceptional. We also had the deviled eggs and split the shrimp/grits. Live music was a bonus. Would definitely go back.
Great atmosphere and great service!
From our Server's greeting, to his final recommendation of the rum cake, the whole experience was wonderful. I think that our favorite dish was the gnocchi, but everything was delicious! The service was wonderful, and the drink that Jeff suggestion was great! (The Warthog)
Jeffrey our server was great. Informative, friendly, responsive. The food was excellent and the cocktails wonderfully surprising. We WILL be back.
