The appetizers are as creative and interactive as they are tasty. They brought a newness to food I haven’t experienced before. We went for HH and it was an absolute delight. Our server Julia was lovely. The Vermicelli Alla Mare was so perfectly flavored it made me cry. We’ll be back.

My wife and I had a wonderful meal here. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating. We had heard about the house fries so we shared an order as an appetizer. They didn't disappoint: outstanding. Both my wife and I ordered the sea food vermicelli (the kitchen agreed to hold the Calabrian spices). We were blown away. The pasta was served piping hot but it was not overcooked while the generous portions of shrimp and lobster were cooked perfectly. Not an easy thing to pull off. The chef certainly knows what he/she is doing. We had an outdoor table just across the street from the river (which is not visible from here). The hostess recommended that next time we try their crab cake. We've had them in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia so we're skeptical, because we're almost always disappointed with Western restaurant versions of the dish, so we'll see. Delicious local lager on tap. Only concern is the indoor noise level. Initially we were going to be seated inside but four women appeared intent on breaking the sound barrier with their high pitched laughter. Glad they were having a good time but conversation with my hard-of-hearing wife would have been out of the question. The installation of sound dampening features would be helpful.

At at Primrose twice, sampled many items on the menu. Oysters were excellent as were the Stick Ribs. The steaks are great, enjoyed the Bibb salad as well. Mushroom side was fantastic. Had the Scallops - I was expecting something lighter, it's actually a very rich dish so didn't fit what I wanted. Save room for chocolate ice cream, it's awesome.

I ordered the Vermicelli Alla Mare. The pasta was actually Chitarra which is fine, but the claw meat and shrimp were a little over done for my liking. My wife's lambchop was some of the best she has ever eaten...very lean. Both my wife's Old Fashioned and my Tequila were generous pours. I was charged $1.50 for a square ice cube without previously being alerted. We had to ask for a steak knife for the chop.

This could have been better. We chose this restaurant because the reviews were so good. The ambiance was fabulous and the service was excellent. However, the food was extremely lack luster. The seafood pasta was recommended but just not great. The red sauce was plain and most of the "seafood" was shrimp. My husband had the Sea Bass. The fish itself was fabulous but the sauce was very bland and runny. Oysters and salad were wonderful. Wish we'd just stuck to appetizers for the meal. For a $300 plus dinner, it was disappointing.

Had a fantastic evening outdoor at Primrose! Madeline was very helpful as well as the sommelier. Had the seafood tower, bread, the very interesting sweet corn appetizer. Of course dinner here is not a low budget thing so if that’s your concern it’s valid. But if you want a great hang and excellent food, service and drink this is for you!

Truly amazing experience. The kitchen was cognizant of my allergies and are doing some amazing work over at primrose! Every bite was extremely well executed, fresh, delicious - classic recipes done extremely well. The oysters were so fresh and fantastic and were served with an amazing passion fruit mignonette. The tartare was so die for. The king crab lettuce wraps were out of this world - I am still drooling over them (pro tip - add caviar to the crab). Entrees we’re delicious, and we loved the option of 3 oz pours on some really excellent wines. Our server was knowledgeable, professional, and gave us the perfect amount of attention. The staff and management worked together well and made us feel very well taken care of. 10/10

Let’s talk about the good - sticky ribs were very good. After waiting for 10 minutes to order cocktails, I asked if the lombard martini could be a little dirty. It had no olive brine. Tasted horrible. The manager came over. Finally got a replacement w/o dirty. Still a barely drinkable martini but I gave up. How hard is it to make a martini? Later a lady in the party next to us also said hers was undrinkable - indeed, she didn’t. We were instructed to order everything at the same time. Ordered steaks. Wine was good. Total of check $250 w/o tip. Worst meal and most expensive in five days at Steamboat.

This is your #1 reservation, not to miss, experience in steamboat. The food quality is unmatched in the surrounding area and among the best I have experienced in the US. The service is intelligent, responsive and quality just like the kitchen which is professionally run with a feeling of comrades. It is clear the team (front and back of the house) are a TEAM and enjoy their jobs. Well done and I congratulate the owner who exhibits the same spirit and dedication to his customers and employees. Okay food but overpriced. Despite high prices they still tacked on an obnoxious, unexplained miscellaneous fee to the bill. Why deceive customers instead of including those in menu prices? Other comparably placed restaurants in town have a view of the river, unlike Primrose. Would put it behind restaurants like Aurum and E3.

We came for a nice anniversary dinner with my parents, and it was too loud to hear each other with the large group dinners next to us. Good food. We are visiting from Vail so we are used to busy weekends. It would have been be better to have had dinner at a low key place vs this over the top, loud environment. Maybe just too busy of a weekend….

Service was really really bad this time around, despite eating at 5:30 when it wasn't remotely crowded. Menu is very limited - especially if you don't eat red meat - few vegetarian or fish options. Atmosphere is fun and location is great - but hard to overlook terrible service. The tuna appetizer was also really fishy and not fresh. Highlights: The brussel sprouts were phenomenal, salads were great, and sea bass also excellent.

Our meal was epic. Scallops were the best we have ever tasted and the chocolate espresso martini was exceptional. I think Primrose has the best crispy Brussels sprouts in town. Our waitress (who was also the pastry chef) was great and very knowledgeable. Her Palisades Peach Shortcake with Pistachio ice cream is a work of art while walking a fine line between savory and sweet. Will be going back and telling all my friends. 👏👏👏👏👏

The restaurant, food and service definitely live up to its reputation. We did reserve an inside standard height table later than we wanted so we could secure one but was not available so we sat outside. It was pleasant although the noise from inside definitely filtered out the side door right to our table. Laura was an awesome server as was all the other attendants that stopped by. The food was spectacular, crab cakes, Chilean sea bass, salad and white burgundy bottle of wine (the wine list is notable for sure). As was the homemade pistachio ice cream and port wine. Highly recommend! Reserve a table sooner than a few hours ahead of time like we did.
