Slow service good food. Near the pool so kids everywhere. Salad and ceviche were great

This is not up to par for Mexican food in San Antonio or even Mexican-inspired. The chips and queso were fine but all drinks were served in cheap pool plastic cups, down to the margaritas, wine, and espresso martinis. It really left the experience feeling flat and not resort-quality. On top of that the food was not really good. The beans and rice were out of a bag. All the food felt like it was reheated out of the bag food.

The two fans over our table were either missing/not working and the people at the pool next to us were smoking and it was blowing right onto the table. Served was friendly but didn’t come check on us at all. Food was mediocre. We expected a lot more from this restaurant.

Despite having made reservation’s we were told to seat ourselves. Two breakfasts came 10 minutes apart. Waitress spilled mimosa on the table as she appeared in a rush. Had to wait 10 minutes for salt and pepper. Coffee came in paper cups.

We had a lovely meal of Tex Mex staples and stiff margaritas. The resort was a pretty back drop to celebrate a retirement. We could hear each other easily and converse. Our server and trainee were excellent which always makes for a great time dining out.

Booked a reservation because it was Thanksgiving evening but the crowd was lite and we walked right in. Food was good a price was not outrageous. And attire was casual. I would go here again

The bar is raised pretty high to be a restaurant located within the precious walls of La Cantera. As a stand-alone cantina, Primero would be popular; but within this high-end resort, the challenge to deliver superior food, service, and ambience is quite a bit higher than the norm. So what are visitors led to expect? BETTER food. BETTER service. And BETTER ambiance! Granted, Mexican dishes are pretty predictable. That is where the challenge begins: creative beverage options, uniquely presented and prepared dishes, and comfortable surroundings. Our server, Andrea, was attentive until the end of the meal when we waited too long for the ticket. It was more than adequate , but nothing really special.
