Food was very good. Not the best, but very, very good. Service was excellent and place is nice and cool.
Great staff, good food, good ambiance
Awful, awful service. Ordered drinks and didn’t get them for 20 mins. Was told that the ticket was lost and that wasn’t our waitress’s responsibility. Was never asked if we wanted to order food, and we were there for dinner. Complained - considering the place was empty - and was offered no explanation. Will never go back. This place doesn’t deserve a second chance considering all of the better options in Little Italy. No wonder it was empty while two conferences were in town!
Hip vibe for this upper lever restaurant. Cozy atmosphere. Pleasantly surprised they had a kids menu. All food was flavorful and visual presentation was exceptional.
My duck liver pate was lush and the balsamic reduction was great. The toast crisps were flavorful as it was toasted with herbs and olive oil.
my lamb slider was also tasty with a perfect amount of Gorgonzola. The pretzel bun is always a huge hit.
The fries were more like frites: thin and crispy. Perfectly seasoned.
My child’s steak with quinoa looked picture perfect. Steak medium rare. Broccoli was cooked with plenty of bite left. He was happy.
What a gem of a find in the noisy hustle and bustle of Little Italy!
They ran out of everything on the food and drink menu.
Such great service and amazing food! Big kudos to the chef!
Everything went well. It was Valentine’s Day and very romantic. Except for the fact that they had tables very close together so it didn’t give much privacy. Next time I’ll ask for a more private table.
This was our first time at this restaurant. It was excellent. It was a limited menu, but we had the chicken and wild mushrooms, both were excellent. Wine list is limited, but we definitely will return.
Food was delicious. However, the portions were small.
Service was outstanding and food even better.
Tyler did an excellent job as our waiter.
Brussel sprout appetizer was amazing.
Just ok all around perfectly ok not great not bad not good not awesome just mediocre and entirely and completely awfully average.
We always visit Prep when we come to SD! Blueberry cake is the best, chilaquiles are a staple, the infused G&T is a fun peppy drink and I love the corner table under the tree! See you soon
Food was good; had the pasta. When asked for bread.... “we don’t have any bread”. Thought that was strange.....
Awesome food and drink choices, paired with friendly service makes the restaurant a must visit.
Service was excellent and food very good with nice accommodations made for someone with multiple food allergies. Only thing disappointing is a very limited wine list and after dinner drink offering.
Perfect experience for NYE!
Quiet night but service was incredibly slow. Had to wait for 5 minutes to be seated even though there was nobody waiting. Menu was very limited compared to online menu with non vegetarian entree options. Goats cheese and beet salad arrived with almost no cheese. They did add more after I complained. Fish tacos were cool when they finally arrived. No apologies for slow service. Also brought the bill to us while one guest was still eating their entree. Really!!! I used to like PreKitchen, especially the one in Del Mar, but after this experience it will likely be my last. Too many good restaurants to waste time on mediocre service and to be honest overpriced and way undersized portions.
Nothing special about prep kitchen.
Wow! What a great experience. The food was extraordinary, the drinks creative, and the view and decor perfect for a memorable night out.
Great food. The dates were delicious.
We were extremely disappointed with our Christmas Eve dinner at Prep Kitchen. We have eaten there several times before and it has always been one of our favorites. However, this last meal was not what we have experienced in the past. The portions were very small and it was very overpriced. Additionally, most of what we ordered was not up to the usual caliber of Prep Kitchen. We were also charged for refills on sodas and kids’ lemonades and the menu was limited. Unfortunately, we will not be back.
Our party of 11 was treated so well. We had a wonderful time
Service was great & I loved the decor. The Brussels sprouts and Mac & cheese were bomb, great for sharing. Will definitely return.
Great food, great location, great service. Go and enjoy this restaurant!
Our server was so speedy and the food was yummy
Great place for brunch. Food was very good and we were the only ones there.
Nice view, service was excellent, we loved the Brussels sprouts entre highly recommended
The Prep Kitchen in Little Italy is one of my favorites! The service is outstanding and the food is consistently great. Great bar and happy hour too!
Food was amazing! They were a little understaffed but they probably weren’t expecting a full house on a Wednesday night.
Good place, about my 3rd time there, first since they got sold i think. Food was good, but not as great as previous trips. May have just been the dishes we ordered. Brussell sprouts, lobstor roll and mac and cheese were all new for me. good, just not that special. I tried some different things. Overall a fun night. Still recommend.
Cocktails were well done but pasta was flavorless with a less than ideal texture. Brussels sprout appetizer was excellent with perfectly crisped but not burned outer leaves with smoky bacon and just salty enough cheese.
I have to admit, I was disappointed with this meal. I have eaten at Prepkitchen restaurants previously (Little Italy, Del Mar) and I thought it would be a good place to bring some out of town friends for dinner. They are not particularly adventuresome eaters so I figured the menu would work for them since it's kind a of a solid higher-end American cuisine type.
Well, the menu was straightforward, as expected, but it was short enough to be a haiku. Heavy on tacos, salmon, and french fries. The wine and beer lists were abruptly short. They were out of a wine we ordered. They were out of lobster rolls. They were out of something else someone at our table asked for (can't remember). I'm wondering if they don't bother to restock the pantry for a Monday night.
What we did order was OK, nothing special. I felt that we could have gone to any brewpub to get the same kind of food and would have had a better selection of drinks and a lower bill at the end of the night.
I guess the dining room looks nice and has a reasonably nice view onto the street. I might drop in for a cocktail one evening but I'll be dining elsewhere.
Great experience, but they stopped bottomless mimosas:(
We were expecting a more formal restaurant but it was open to a sport bar right next to the dining. Was a little noisy. Pretty casual place. Liked the food but nothing special.
The Team at prep Kitchen and food was great as always! Todd and team were amazing and make you feel like your at home!
Great place to take a date, meet friends, or go for food!
The place was empty but server's were inattentive and rude. Happy hour is only served at the bar. They close the kitchen between lunch and dinner but stay open for happy hour which can only be served at the bar.
I love the contemporary look of this restaurant. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The lemon chicken with capers was amazing. My husband had the scallops and said they were cooked perfectly, and there was nothing left of the bolognese pasta on my son’s plate. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines and cocktails were reasonable. Another great restaurant in Little Italy.
Food was excellent. Restaurant exceptionally quiet as very few diners this night.
