Chef Mathew Peters, the first American to win the prestigious Bocuse d'Or in 2017, is bringing his culinary expertise to the heart of Austin with the opening of Prelude, an elevated cocktail bar and canapé lounge set in a historic home in West Austin. The space has a beautiful back lawn lounge with views of downtown Austin and private rooms throughout the house that can accommodate groups of 6-18 with private events options of groups up to 120 guests.

Prelude will offer a unique Austin experience, combining innovative cocktail creations with elevated small bites. The menu will feature a curated selection of small plates, designed to complement the bar programs signature cocktails and highlight Chef Peters' culinary artistry. Please note that our kitchen closes each evening at 10 pm.

Join Prélude during Happy Hour Tuesday-Thursday from 4-6 pm for $2 oysters and drink specials.

    Chef Evan Leroy, owner of Michelin star Leroy & Lewis, will be taking over our canapé menu on July 16th alongside our chef and owner, Matt Peters. For one night only, the duo will create a special a la carte canapé menu for guests to enjoy and enjoy our full cocktail and wine menu. Pushing the boundaries of traditional barbecue, Evan LeRoy brings elements of fine dining and local, responsible sourcing from Texas ranches to the menu at LeRoy and Lewis. A James Beard semifinalist for Best Chef Texas, his innovative approach extends beyond the plate; Evan built the original food truck’s offset pit and butchers whole animals specifically for smoking. For him, barbecue is a method of cooking, not confined to a particular set of menu items. Named #2 on Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ List, featured on Netflix’s "Somebody Feed Phil," LeRoy and Lewis continues to draw crowds for its “new school BBQ” cuts like beef cheeks, bacon ribs, flatiron, and more.     Chefs Nic Yanes & Junior Borges will take over our canapé menu for one night only alongside our Chef and owner, Matt Peters. The three chefs will collaborate on an exclusive a la carte canapé menu for guests to enjoy with our full cocktail and wine list. Nic Yanes & Junior Borges have joined forces after a decade of friendship as Austin’s Excelsior Hospitality Group which includes Juniper, Uncle Nicky’s, & Murray’s Tavern. The duo also just opened an upscale restaurant, Nic & Junior’s, in Chicago this May. Nic Yanes is known for his northern Italian cuisine at Juniper, his flagship restaurant on East Caesar Chavez. After 10 years of being one of the go-to restaurants in the city and expanding his hospitality group, he brought on James Beard-recognized chef Junior Borges to be his partner. Junior has an incredible background, having been a chef in NYC, moved to Dallas with the Uchi group, and then was the head chef at Meridian. Junior brings his Brazilian techniques to fine dining and the expanding group.

    Drinks, service and food were great! The hostess was terrible. The place was completely empty the entire time, when I asked if we could move to another location she was very snippy and refused, we has our waitress (who was great) and she had no problem with our request. The lady was so rude we were about the just walk right out (we had reservation for party of 10).

    Absolutely phenomenal restaurant so happy I made the reservation. This place is very sexy very moody. The food is impeccable very Michelin, which I love the staff is absolutely on point from top to bottom. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who is a foodie and loves a great environment for a wonderful conversation thank you so much for an amazing experience!

    One of the best places in town! Vieux Carre is a must to try for an old fashioned lovers. They also serve one of the best beef tartare. 10/10

    We went for drinks only for a friends birthday. We all enjoyed our drinks and all service, from host to servers, were very good and attentive. Drinks came quickly. We were seated in the first room, which was comfortable with 4 small tables. Not sure what other seating is available besides the small bar. Restroom was clean. We will return! Note: We did not order food. OpenTable needs to add a n/a.
