The minute you walk into Poseidon, you’ll be swept by the fabulous view. You couldn’t be closer to the sand and the beach than sitting at Poseidon on their beautiful outdoor patio. With such a spectacular ocean view, you’ll experience breathtaking sunsets and during the right season even catch a glimpse of the whales migrating up or down the coast. The bar offers a large circular firepit, which is nice on those chilly fall or winter nights. Off to the side of the bar is a split level dining room offering every table a panoramic view of the beach and the ocean. Incredible service and amazingly well prepared food! My husband ordered the filet mignon that was cooked perfectly and incredibly tender. I had the lobster that was the best cooked lobster I have ever had.

Gorgeous view! Food was great. Note- the hollandaise was not classic, but still yummy. Our server was Avrey L. She was amazing. So warm and friendly without being intrusive. Responded to our every need immediately. One of the best waitresses I’ve ever had.

High quality seafood and good service. We had brie appetizer, halibut and cioppino. I also had a delicious traditional old fashion. Entrees $40 and up. One of the best views of the ocean in the Del Mar area. Definitely make a reservation.

Service and Food are Excellent!!! Dave our server provided great recommendations and was super fun to talk to. Sit on the patio and enjoy the sound of the ocean. Don't worry about being cold because they have space heaters everywhere.

Wonderful evening sitting by the ocean with my two adult grandchildren. Great oysters, incredible Sea Bass (as always), the best clam chowder (and a generous portion), the elegant prawn cocktail and seafood platter with everything cooked to perfection...only my grandson could add dessert, and that was amazing too!

Fantastic ambience for early brunch with ocean view. Friendly, fast staff. The menu could included more healthier choices. I always go for brunch and choose egg omelet or French toast. They are both delish, but would appreciate to add other choices like oatmeal, fruit bowl and etc. The price is a little high for the quality of the food and presentation. Overall is a very good restaurant

I was a little nervous about this place because I had not been here before, but the other reviews were quite good so I gave them a try. I was not disappointed at all - this place is awesome, and I would highly recommend it. I took clients here for a business lunch; I had the sea bass and my clients both had the seafood platter. My fish was of excellent quality and was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I told the waiter I have a dairy allergy; it turns out they’re used to this and they’ll make any entree using olive oil instead of butter upon request. They even gave me a couple of extra sauces to try if I wanted - the chimichuri was great. The waiter also closed the windows next to our table so we wouldn’t get too cold while eating (thank you!), which was very considerate. All in all, I agree with the reviews that claim Poseidon is better than Jakes - it hands down is and will now become one of my go to spots in Del Mar.

I am a local and routinely bring out of town guests in to experience the location. Historically the food has been fine, nothing special. But last night there were 3 of us who ordered 3 different entrees and they were all spectacular! I mentioned my impression to the manager on the way out and he said they had some new staff in the kitchen. We will be back - and not just for fish tacos and the view!

Always love dinner and/or drinks here. Food is excellent, atmosphere is good fun...everyone there truly enjoys being there and you can't beat the view anywhere, and the servers are happy, friendly people who do it right. Ask for Dave when you go....best waiter around. The "Po" is our go-to place in Del Mar.

We had brunch on the patio at the Poseidon and it went enjoyed every minute. We gad a beachside seat and started out with bubbles and a bloody mary while contemplating the menu. Tough decision as so many things sounded good. I finally chose the seafood cobb and my husband had the Poseidon Benedict. Oh my! My salad had shrimp, scallops, salmon and halibut. A seafood bonanza! The only thing that would've made it better would've been more romaine along with the spinach. My husband ate every bite of his Benedict and said it was delicious. Excellent service and ambiance rounded out our meal. A bit pricey but worth it!

We have been to Posidon many times, but not recently. The view is fantastic and the service was excellent. Really the only downside was the prices have gone up significantly. As the prices have gone up, I would say this is more of special occasions restaurant as we wouldn’t be able to afford eating there on a regular basis.

Always great at Poseidon. Great outdoor dining on the beach. Regular here for many years. Steak slightly undercooked this time around but they kindly took time to cook a little longer and food was delicious. Great service and prompt.
