A wonderful experience! The beach setting was magical and the service and food was fabulous. Look forward to going back.
The patio seating is terrific for beach/ocean proximity, sunsets.
Casual beach vibe.
Our server Valerie made our night! She was awesome and can't wait to come back. Everything about the restaurant was great, the food, the service the atmosphere.
Our waiter, Andrew, thought of everything before we knew we needed it or brought it the first time we asked. He helped us time our lunch perfectly. First time back since COVID & the food & ambiance on the patio was as good as before.
had an amazing time here, service was great and food's amazing.
The food was amazing, drinks were amazing. We loved the atmosphere of being on the beach, but a more casual feel to it. The service was by far some of the best we have ever had, and my husband and I dine out frequently. Dave was our server and was absolutely phenomenal.
We had ceviche, bread & spread, fish tacos & Thai chicken salad. Food was amazing & you can’t beat the ocean view!!
We had a reservation to sit outside as they have a beautiful patio on the beach. We were sat outside on a table with no umbrella and it was a bit hot. We immediately asked to be relocated (there were literally a dozen empty tables all around us, as this was 5:15 on a Thursday evening before the “dinner rush”) and were scoffed at by our waiter. Then we were told that was “impossible” because all the empty 2-top and 4-top tables were for “reservations”. Reminder; we were one of the “reservations”. They ended up making us sit inside, then promptly sat an 8-top immediately beside us, just barely abiding by their own 6-foot social distancing guidelines. The table was loud and completely blocked what view we had of the water. We ended up finishing our drinks and appetizer, paid out, left and went next door to Jake’s. We didn’t make a big deal of it as we understand they’re short staffed and those who are working (God bless them) are probably overworked and short on patience.
It’s a beautiful location. We make it a point to eat here every time we come to Del Mar and this was a uniquely sub-par experience. I would still recommend Poseidon.
Had another wonderful experience at Poseidon. We always bring out of town guests as the view and ambiance can’t be beat. But I haven’t given enough credit to the meal itself as I should. My SeaBass was delicious- cooked perfectly, my husband thoroughly enjoyed the surf and turf, my mom, who was celebrating her birthday, loved her seafood platter. We had an attentive waiter which added to our fabulous experience. Hands down still one of our dining favorites despite the number of new fine dining restaurants in North County.
Wonderful! My favorite:-)
They used to have ONE vegetarian dish on the menu that could be modified to make it vegan. And it was really bad! I go there because I love the view/location and the staff is usually really great! This week I went with out of town company and family and there was not even that one dish on the menu -- which is inedible anyway. As usual, I order just side dishes and pick around things. I did call the manager a few months ago and asked if it would be possible to do just one vegan entre. Seems like that is a reasonable request. So now I mostly eat before I go there and just get cocktails and let my friends/family eat. Really unfortunate to not have at least one vegan dish.
The menu was limited and mostly consisted of seafood.
Great as usual. Great food, Ambiance can't be beat. Best fish tacos and fish and chips ever. Jesus our server was terrific.
Beautiful location. Waitress was so attentive and pleasant. Food, delicious!
Consistently great food and service. Nothing beats the location, right on the beach in Del Mar. Highly recommend! (I often drive 2 1/2 hours from the Palm Springs area just to have brunch there on a Saturday or Sunday. It's well worth the trip, especially when it's 110 degrees in the desert and 75 degrees in Del Mar!!)
Have been going here since the early 80s, it's still great.
I had the sea bass. It meted in your mouth. The parsnip purée with it….sublime. We also had crusted Brie. Yummy presentation. My husband had seafood cioppino. He loves that dish. Here: he says the scallops were overcooked . But, very good nonetheless. Valet parking was seamless. Our waitress, Amanda, was very attentive and knew the food and the wine menus. Best of all, we were seated in the row right on the sand. It was a gorgeous view of the sunset.
We booked a table outside, despite arriving on time, the host would not seat us at our table and stated that nothing was available right now. She gave us an option to sit inside and disregarded the fact that we had a booking for a table outside. Just didn’t make any sense, why bother booking then. Food and server were great… but was not happy that they did not honor the specifics of our reservation.
Beautiful view, lovely food and service!
We had the lobster tail and rib eye combo. Our steaks had a lot of gristle on them and in general were very ordinary. The lobster tails were over cooked. Even if the steak and lobsters were better the meal was over :
This is an annual dinner destination for us. We travel from Kansas City each year to Del Mar. We look forward to this meal every year.
great food right on the sand, can't beat the location or view.
Always rewarding experience , waitress excellent, salmon to die for
It was our Anniversary and the seafood and service was excellent
Fabulous view and great menu. The shrimp cocktail, Chilean sea bass were amazing along with seared scallops. We have been going to Poseidon for 25 years and they never disappoint.
One of the best restaurants with an ocean view, the server Scott Burns was excellent!! We will definitely come back soon.
Great food and service. The patio area provides a great atmosphere.
Ambiance on the patio was very nice!
View is unbeatable, food and service excellent. For a casual night out this cannot be beat.
Great service and delicious food! You can’t top the view!
Great lunch and location.
Great food, ambiance and service for lunch before the races!
Dining on the beach is the best. For that experience, Poseidon is the place to eat. We opted for soup and salad, because quite frankly, the main courses are quite pricey. But the view can’t be beat!
Dinner was fabulous! The atmosphere was spectacular - right on the beach!! We will definitely come back again and again!!
Best restaurant in a beach location. Energetic vibe, beach life. Good food and drinks.
Valerie provided outstanding service! Poseidon is a great place to enjoy dinner and the sunset.
Very good. Wanted to book patio seating but because we had late reservations wasn't sure how comfortable it would be. The hostess found patio seating for us without even asking and they had plenty of heaters setup.
Great food service location and atmosphere
The food was fabulous and our server was very friendly and helpful.
