Our soup was pretty salty but everything else was great.
Service was great. Decor was really nice. Food was ok. Nice plate presentation. Flavor was bland
It has great location but poor foodwise...huge dissappointment!
Our food was good and our waitress was fabulous! They had great heaters that allowed us to eat outside and not be cold.
Ambience is always fantastic with decor in pleasant muted tones and beach-front location. Serving sizes were ample and food presented beautifully. Waiter was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Can get a little noisy when restaurant is full but overall has a nice atmosphere. Food was a bit over salted, particularly the mixed grill dish, but still tasty. We will come back.
Food was excellent! Price was reasonable and menu was great.
We wanted to sit outside and it got so windy, that they offered us some blankets to keep warm. Excellent service and wonderful evening at the Poseidon. Thank you.
Date with my husband for lunch. Delightful!
Wonderful atmosphere, food & service. Could do without the seagulls diving in for the bread but outside dining as beautiful as it is sometimes has its challenges.
Clam chowder and fish and chips were great...bordering on best I've ever had. The view was spectacular!
The only negative was the wait time for the food...
The ambiance, food and location are terrific. A little pricey for the steak but she liked it. Wonderful experience. One of my favorite places.
We reserved a table at Poseidon for our 14 years together anniversary. We last came to Poseidon with a group of friends for our prom dinner which was probably a good 12 years ago. We found out the menu changed so the duck we were expecting to order was no longer available. We ordered filet mignon and scallops but was disappointed. The view was amazing as always. There were many empty tables yet it took awhile for our server to take care of us and we ordered alcohol drinks. Overall I can wait another 14 years to come back.
At first it was a bit rocky. The reservation notes specified four adults and a high chair with special note that one guest was recently in surgery. We were placed in a table was were told we could not seat there with the high chair due to fire Marshall rules. We were moved inside.
The service was wonderful. The food was delicious. Would return.
Food arrived cold. Winter time, the patio needs better heating and wind break. Small portions.....low quality. Got 2 burgers, the shrimp/loin special, tuna wasabi thing, 2 beers......came to 50$ per person.....essentially rip off..... not gonna recommend
Food and service was average but the view was beautiful
good food, GREAT view! highly recommend going at sunset and sitting outside. they have space heaters so it doesn’t get too chilly!
I've always enjoyed coming here. Food is always great and servers are friendly. It gets busy all the time and glad got to to reserve my table early.
Holiday dinner for my work team, service was excellent, food was excellent, craft cocktails great and capped off with a rare green flash. Our server provided blankets for some of the ladies since we were outside. Great evening - thank you Poseidon.
Our BIG complaint was the parking meters!!! We put in a credit card but did not receive any instructions and assumed when we returned, we'd just have to put the card in again!!! Got a $40+ dollar ticket! Spoke to officers and that would not cancel the ticket but now the driver of our group has to write an explanation and mail the ticket back!!! Not sure what the result will be, but a written instruction would help!!! Lat time I was there, a few years ago, it was just valet and that would have been the better choice on hindsight! Big issue as to future visits as we drove all the way from Alpine!!! Janice Herrera
I felt the restaurant overall was average at best. The patio and views were fabulous and worth the visit. The service was okay but I would expect better. Our waiter kept walking away mid-sentence. And our waiter did not like that we had the patio heater on but for lunch in December it was necessary.
I might go back, however there are other better restaurants in the area so maybe not.
Everything was great and we enjoyed!
We had 12:30 p.m. reservation for lunch (made five days in advance) requested inside seating. When we arrived, we were told that they could not accommodate us indoors. Our choices were outdoors (it was chilly) or the bar area. We chose the bar area. Waitress did her best to make us feel welcome. She was apparently too busy to check on us very often. Very disappointed that we were not seated in the dining room as requested. Probably would not go back around the holidays again.
For the price it did not seem worth it. We got the variety plate appetizers and it was mostly pita bread and sauce with a small amount of cheese and calamari. Portions were quite small but a big price. Would not go for dinner again.
Went for my anniversary everything was fantastic the view was amazing. Service was great.
Had a lovely meal outside, heaters were were perfect
We celebrated two birthdays there with a nice quiet table for 4 facing the sunset. Friendly and attentive service but not overly looming. All four different dishes were first rate.
Arrived 5 minutes early for my reservation and was told they were no longer serving but might be able to get something from the bar menu. The place was dead and staff hanging around. Now I see why. This after making a reservation and using Uber to get there. Good think Jake's is next door and we were able to walk over and enjoy an amazininly good meal and service.
Food was delicious, the view is beautiful. Service is top notch. The bread and butter are to die for. Pricey plates and small portions but enjoyed everything. $300 for 5 of us including drinks and tip
We really enjoyed the entire dining experience. Our server, Amanda, was great from the first introduction. Her recommendations were spot on too. We enjoyed the Chilean sea bass, mixed greens salad with a salmon filet, and Yellow Fin tuna ...all three were exceptional. Also, we ate al fresco oceanfront ... a beautiful spot. We’ll return for sure.
The food was so good. Can't wait to go back. The dinners were delicious and the blackberry chocolate gelato on top of the red velvet cake was out of this world.
Best ocean view ever!! Food was amazing!
Enjoyed a beautiful view with excellent lemon drops and yummy seafood!
58 th wedding anniversary dinner for my parents. Great food, amazing view, outstanding service!
We had good table service with Claudia. I have patronized this restaurant for years but have noticed something in the past few years: some food is excellent, others questionable. I would like to see more consistency to that. When one orders ceviche it should be cooked only in the sauce. We had civiche with shrimp that were cooked normally not through the ceviche sauce. Chef should know better. Always beautiful, though, there on the beach.
Everything was excellent. Immediate seating with reservations, great ambiance, good food although pretty pricey. The Mai Tai was terrible. They need to learn how to make it, as it was very bitter.
A million dollar view at a reasonable price.
We got everything we came for. The lunch menu has ample choices- something for everyone.
We will come back soon, and often.
Always a great place for lunch! Great being right on the Pacific! Very attentive service and really good, reliable food! One of our fav places to dine w company in town!
When ever I have friends in from out of town that aren't that familiar with San Diego, I take them to Poseidon. Food is excellent and the menu is creative. Service is great. Ambience (sitting feet from the ocean) is about as good as it gets. Good beer and wind selection. Always a good time.
Food was great ... kitchen closed before 9pm on a Saturday which seemed strange. We saw several of the staff just eating in the main dining room and another standing up eating from a plate watching tv in the bar area ... kind of ruined the ambiance for date night
