The minute you walk into Poseidon, you’ll be swept by the fabulous view. You couldn’t be closer to the sand and the beach than sitting at Poseidon on their beautiful outdoor patio. With such a spectacular ocean view, you’ll experience breathtaking sunsets and during the right season even catch a glimpse of the whales migrating up or down the coast. The bar offers a large circular firepit, which is nice on those chilly fall or winter nights. Off to the side of the bar is a split level dining room offering every table a panoramic view of the beach and the ocean. For over 33 years, Poseidon has delighted both local San Diegans and the tourists that love the beach. An excellent menu, a favorite with all the locals is designed to cater to all appetites and pocketbooks.

Poseidon Ratings and Reviews
My girlfriend and I went to The Posiden for our Valentines Day dinner. We were seated early, got a great table! The waitress was very pleasant and quick with our drinks and appetizer. the manager even came around to greet and welcome us. We had a very nice view of the beautiful sunset! It could not have been better!
We've been going to Poseidon for years. Obviously, their location with their patio on the beach has always been great. Years ago, the food didn't match the location, the outdoor furniture was plastic and the service was poor. They have certainly changed. They have greatly upgraded the quality of their food, the furniture has been upgraded and the service is worlds apart from where it was. We had a great lunch with a funny but very knowledgable server. All that with the beach just over the edge of the patio, how do you beat that?
Such a wonderful day start to finish! From the first contact with the valet to the last, everything was spot on! I had requested the patio seating and we were promptly shown our table with a wonderful view to enjoy the sunshine and company. Our server was very prompt, yet super inconspicuous in checking in with us to insure we had everything we needed. We had a light lunch which was delicious. We followed with an apple tartan to share and coffee. Allowed we were there for several hours we could have stayed several more but felt guilty the busier it became so alas we had to leave. The valet got our cars very quickly and my guy even went so far as to tighten my gas cap when he noticed the 'loose cap' warning on the dash. Such a small gesture but SOOO appreciated. Our server was awesome so I doubled the average tip as I know for certain she could have turned the table 2x during the time we spent there. It's a 2 hour drive from home but it absolutely will not be our last visit! Keep up the excellent work and efforts!
Delicious food on the Valentine's Day menu, however the appetizers came out after the salads and then our meals arrived before we we're done with the appetizers. The table was overflowing with dishes. Our waiter wasn't particularly attentive and we never were served the Prosecco that came with our $80 prix fix meals. Sad! We'll come back, but not on Valentine's Day.
Poseidon is my go-to spot when friends arrive from out of town, or for business lunches. First, Dave, our waiter, was terrific, fun and on it. The entree's, however, were 50/50, the pork chops dry and drowned in too much gravy, the brussel sprouts ('listed as crispy brussel sprouts) were mush and overcooked. Somewhat disappointing for the $32.00 price for these. The short ribs were cooked well, and not fatty, and sea bass entree was the best of the bunch (and was fantastic).
We were there for Restaurant Week and waited an hour and a half for the appetizer to arrive. Our server apologized many times but the food that arrived was not good and the wait was not worth it. In total our entire meal took nearly 2.5 hours just to serve two people. The view is beautiful, especially at sunset. Luckily we are fortunate enough to have many other restaurants in San Diego that offer a great sunset view, great service, and food worth returning for.
The view from the outside seating was fantastic as was the service. The poke and Brussel sprouts were outstanding.
We had the flat iron steak/lobster combo and salmon. Both were over cooked
We ordered the steak medium rare but it was served to us with very little pink inside. The lobster once you take it out of the shell was maybe two bites. I would not recommend this item, not worth the money
Overall, outside view is to die for but dinner was a little disappointing
Wonderful sunset view. Excellent waiter service...very attentive, polite. Top of the line Cadillac margarita. The food came very quick once we ordered...from the appetizers to the main course to the dessert. The food was great..I had the land n sea, wife had seafood linguine. Overall we had a very memorable evening and YES not only would we go back but we HIGHLY recommend this restaurant...ps make sure to make reservations.
We have been to Poseidon many times. This is the first time we had the seafood plate that had a little of everything. We have to say, it was the best dinner we ever had at Poseidon. As always, the view on the patio is great and our waitress was friendly and polite and a pleasure to have as a waitress. Very upbeat and friendly
LOVE Sunday Brunch at the Poseidon! Our favorite thing to do when we are in town visiting from Kansas. There is a great view of the ocean and the food is fabulous. What could be more perfect than time to unwind, dine and have a glass of wine on the Pacific!
