WELCOME to Portico Restaurant & Bar

We are open for lunch (11:30am to 2:00pm), dinner (4:30pm-9:00pm), and Sunday brunch (11:00am-2:00pm).

Italian inspired cuisine in a charming and beautiful country setting with outdoor dining all summer and a covered heated tent in the winter. Our stone terrace with large fireplace nestled between aromatic herb and flower gardens makes for a beautiful setting year around.

Take out from 4:30pm to 8:00pm daily and can be ordered by calling us at (804) 741-4800.

Our state of the art heated tent is back for the winter and fall season! Designed and built in Anchorage, Alaska, our tent is heated by four 45,000 kilowatt infared heaters, ten propane gas heaters, and a special opening for our woodburning fireplace. The tent makes our patio comfortable for seating no matter the weather.

We are unable to accomadate parties of more than 6. We are unable to separate parties into multiple tables.

What a fantastic restaurant! Our family recently moved to the area. Would prefer to enjoy nice meals at family owned places other than chains. Portico has more than enough charm about the property. Food was delicious and you could tell it was made fresh. From checking in, to be taken care of and even leaving the staff was incredible. What a gem of a place! We will visit often and support them, what a great experience! Many thanks to Portico for making an incredible evening for me and my family.

Unfortunate experience at Portico. I brought a friend here after having excellent experiences in the past. Highly disappointed in how things played out. Waitress was rude, seemed to be avoiding us in an almost empty restaurant, and also got my order wrong. The waitress didn’t write our orders down, and maybe if she did, things would have gone smoother from the food quality stand point. The waitress was so inaccessible, we started asking other staff walking around the floor for help. If I was a secret shopper, this encounter would have failed all levels of customer experience. In addition to getting my order wrong, I was charged full price with no comp/discount for the disservice of having to wait for my steak to be redone. My friend felt unwelcomed and even asked me if it was because she was a person of color…. Very unfortunate experience from a restaurant I’ve frequented many times. Won’t be returning.

Celebrated our anniversary again at Portico. My wife had the pasta daily special and I had the seafood crepes. Both were excellent along with the service as usual. Only downside was the noise level. Very busy for a Monday evening.

Portico is consistently great! The food is phenomenal and the staff incredibly attentive. I recommend this restaurant for any occasion. The only caution is parking. It seems like every single person of a dinner party must take a separate car and getting a spot is challenging. Taking a car service is the best approach.

Excellent atmosphere, service & food! It was a chillier evening than expected and we did not realize we would have an outdoor table when I had made a reservation. I would have preferred to have been notified that we would be dining on the patio so we could have dressed appropriately. The heaters on the patio did not provide enough heat to keep us warm. Overall still very nice experience!

We couldn’t have had a more perfect Fall day to eat outside, and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the chicken salad sandwich on wheat. Everyone at the table ordered a mocktail and they were outstanding especially the one made with blackberry purée, simple syrup, lime juice, and ginger beer. Three of us ordered that particular one. We all hope it becomes permanent on the menu. Service was great. Ambiance perfect. We will be back!

This is a lovely setting, and the food was excellent. It seemed a little over-priced. The short rib ravioli was memorable though. The music volume level was very low and unobtrusive, although the tunes themselves (Joan Osborne, "What If God Was One of Us") lacked the charm that the rest of the setting had to offer. They should try old jazz like Ella Fitzgerald to complete the experience properly.

Too loud even outside. That was my only disappointment and will play into my considering whether I come back. Yelling to be heard and straining to hear detracts from ambience and the intimacy of fine dining, for sure.
