We had a reservation at 8:30pm and were not seated until after 8:45. Once we were seated, service was average. The wagu was over cooked.
Overall the experience was good. Our service was great and staff had knowledgeable feedback for our questions. 2 of the menu items we were interested in were out for the night so that was disappointing, and the substitute (beef cheeks) for one was fine if a bit rich/unbalanced. The cornbread was fantastic as was the bananas foster.
The food was very good!
The food was good not great. The service was poor. Our waitress had no idea about the menu and food preparation and to make matters worse she really didn’t care that she didn’t know. Her attitude in general was flippant. The menu in general was limited. Up side, The George Hotel is great. The lobby bar was a fun way to finish our evening.
Great server. Sat at the bar and had a great lunch and good drinks. Nice atmosphere with great menu.
Fantastic food and service
Steaks were way over done even though specified how we wanted them cooked, and way over seasoned. Too salty. Carrots were delicious but collard greens very bitter. Noise level unbearable. Wanted to take my freshman for a nice steak dinner and visit but impossible to hold a conversation. Also all sides separate so very expensive. Over $200 for three people with two glasses of wine and one dessert.
Everything is delicious! Not to be missed are the quail legs! Best ever! Steaks are tender and lamb shank is out of this world! Sasha was a great waitress!! Service was extremely attentive! Wonderful wine list!
Our favorite place to go.
An attractive dining spot made casual with patrons in t-shirts and baseball caps and a high noise level in part due to hard acoustic surfaces, not a quiet romantic environment. Service was acceptable to good. Although I don't mind paying for value, the food quality did not match the prices. While correctly cooked, the salty Berkshire chop rested on bland creamy grits with four soft carrots. The tenderloin was basic, nothing special. The wedge salad good. Will not be rushing back.
Our reservations were for 7:45pm - unfortunately on "ring day", so the restaurant was full. The waiter was attentive, the wine came, the appetizers came - and then we waited. At 9pm we asked the manager where our food was. The food finally showed up at 9:10pm. One person was not longer hungry, my son and his date asked for their food in a box, they had papers due at midnight.
This was our second visit to Porter's, the first was excellent, this visit was rather poor. Something fell apart in the kitchen, the food took way too long. Would I give Porter's another chance - yes.
Anniversary and ring dunk - no acknowledgement. Brought the wrong side dish, then brought the correct one near the end of meal. What a joke, have your potatoes for your desert- shouldn’t have not been charged.
Food. service was fantastic! The price was very reasonable.
Exceptional dining experience ~ the rib eye was cooked perfectly, paired with the mushrooms, broccolini, and delicious potatoes ~ thank you for a delightful evening on our date night out! Perfectly flavored and prepared, we could not have been happier ~ thank you!

Excellent food and service. Look forward to returning.
We delivered a pig for the chef, and decided that we might as well have an early dinner while we were in town. We were early, so the restaurant was not busy at all. That being said, service was excellent, a nice variety of craft beer, incredible oysters on the halfshell and wedge salad. The entrees were unbelievable, with our absolute fav being the braised beef cheeks. Ranks with one of the best bites ever! Plus they support local farms like ours. Thank you, Porters!

This was our fourth trip to Porter’s. I guess everyone has an off day sometimes and that was the case for the restaurant this trip. Our server was inexperienced butt tried to bluff his way through. Drinks were great, steak was good but not fabulous. My bet is that it was just an off night and we will certainly be back to enjoy dining at Porters again soon.
We visited on a Sunday evening, our wedding anniversary. The staff was very attentive and we engaged the sommelier in a lively conversation and learned a lot. The food was excellent. They feature steak (mine was fabulous), but the fish dishes are noteworthy too.
Perfect as always...this Resturant and their management keep knowing it out of the park every time we dine there....my favorite place
Delicious! Great for our of town groups. We really enjoyed it!
Porters is as great as any big city 5 star restaurant. The wine selection freshness and flavor of the food it way high.
The best restaunt in CS.
The steak was exceptional while the prime rib and pork chop were both very good. All 4 of us found our sides to be over salted, especially the Mac and cheese which we all agreed couldn’t be eaten for more than a few bites. Service was excellent.
Unique/modern architectural and interior design. Food was excellent. Our business luncheon being on a Monday, there were very few other dining patrons. Wait staff was very attentive. The background music was too loud, and at times posed a barrier to business discussion. Overall, a very good dining experience, and value, especially for a business luncheon.
Perfectly prepared steaks and excellent sides. Very competent bar staff also.
Compliments to the chef, Chuck and everyone at Porters!
Great fresh fish!
They were very courteous from the get go and even though my girlfriend was content about her steak they were adamant about making sure it was a great experience. Kudos to the staff and the owner for making my 33rd Birthday a splendid one.
Our second time to Porters. This time for Sunday brunch. Food was fantastic as usual. My wife and I shared the Fried Chicken and Glfrench Toast. Both were well above par. One of our favorite places to eat in B/CS.
Not a very good experience. Mediocre food. Dining room is bar room loud. Untrained wait staff. Think of Porter’s as an expensive Applebee’s. Will not be going again.
Ring Day Celebration and Birthday
I thought my clients would appreciate a steakhouse. Their favorite restaurant in Houston is Taste of Texas (steakhouse). Too my surprise everyone order either Halibut or Red Fish. I should have ordered a steak. The Halibut was overcooked. The topping of clams, Berkshire sausage, and roasted tomato pieces was interesting and delicious. My wife's redfish was cold, and served on a bed of green beans . I guess I should not complain too much for ordering fish at a steakhouse. But if the are going to offer it on the menu, it should be prepared well.
College Station Texas? Super surprised to find this restaurant jewel. Unique menu and steaks that I would rate as highly as any I've ever had. That includes DelMonicos in NY. The service took it even further over the top. Our charming server was Brandon. Thanks for an incredible meal. We are your newest regulars whenever we are in town.
This was my third trip to Porters. I love the attentive waitstaff. One person in our party ordered the bone-in rib eye- Steak perfection! The Lemon anglonotti is delicious and my typical go-to. The wedge salad was a hit as was the lobster shrimp bisque and cold water oysters. One suggestion: Please consider adding some nice single malt scotch selections to your bar menu.
Once again Porter's did not disappoint. Amazing steaks and the best seafood in College Station by far!
Superb evening. Only thing better than the meal was the staff.
Was pretty disappointed with my steak. Asked for medium. Out of the four different pieces of steak on my plate all of them were cooked differently . From one piece being well done to the last piece being rare.
Excellent place but as a New York guy meat did not match top steak restaurants. Sides A plus same for salads.
Steak was slightly over-cooked, average at best. Sides arrives so late we had finished our steaks. Staff forgot spoons with soups, delivered meals to wrong seats. The constant mistakes and excuses would be more understandable from a chain restaraunt and are inexcusable from an upscale restaraunt.
Had a great time!
Food was overpriced , over cooked, and over seasoned.
Best part of meal were the cornbread muffins - they were great.
Staff catered to certain tables and ignored other tables. Asked if we wanted dessert and we were just halfway our meal. Beautiful location but very disappointed in the quality of food Wish we had gone to The Republic instead.
