Thank you for a wonderful evening and allowing Justin Scott to take care of us again. Awesome suggestions on food and wine pairing as always 🎉🥂
Came with a group from work and we had a really nice experience. Food was excellent and everyone liked what they ordered. We ended up sharing as we were so happy with the food. Ambiance was nice as well and we had a good time.
Brunch menu is very limited and contains no fish dishes. Enjoyed a Cobb salad. No balsamic dressing available. Husband had fried chicken and hoppin John greens. He loved the chicken and mentioned that the greens were very spicy. Table mate had shrimp and grits and she ate every bite. She is a very picky eater and rarely eats half her meal. I’m thinking it was fantastic. She did not offer me a taste.
Took a client to dinner at Porter’s - Friday night of a football game weekend. Staff was very courteous upon arrival. We were a little early so we waited for our table in the bar. Good selection of liquors and some nice cocktails as well. Seated a few minutes before our reservation- nice!
Juliette was our waitress and she was terrific! Very engaging, knowledgeable and attentive. Good wine list (should include years - small issue). We ordered filets and a ribeye. Interesting that a steakhouse doesn’t have baked potatoes as an option - just fingerlings (which we’re tasty). One issue with the meal (and the reason for the 5-star rating vs 5-star). I ordered the filet but the kitchen sent a ribeye. Rather than wait to eat, I just kept the ribeye - but it was pretty rare. Not thrilled.
Overall it was a nice evening. Just the one issue. Will be back!
We really enjoyed our time at Porter’s! The fried chicken and collard greens were delicious! At times, especially right after seating...the service lagged a bit. Our server was great, I think it was just logistics. Overall, we would return:)
Derrick was great! Service and food were perfect! Great find!
The first time we ate at Porters, it was amazing (4/18)! Everything was 5+++ from the food, service, ambiance. The waiter and the manager were the best! On my second visit and a first for my husband, I was really disappointed with the service. Our waitress was absolutely horrible (but, we did notice that the other servers were on the ball), and the manager (different from the 4/18 manager) was audibly arguing with a customer at a neighboring table shortly after we arrived. The food and wine list are great; but for a $350+ dinner (for 4), I do expect good (if not great, service). I will be going to The Republic next time.
Where do we start...bread was served after asking four times, food was extremely salty (other spices exist), extremely expensive with no sides for the price, small portions and lackluster service.
I was very dissapointed and quickly left and ordered dessert elsewhere. Not a great experience for the cost at all.
Porter's was delicious. Our server did not seem to have very much experience and therefore was below average for such a nice place. The owner came around to every table and even comped us an appetizer since we were not greeted in a timely manner by our server. Overall, a great experience.
Great food! Need more restaurants like this in CS.
The bartender was very professional and very helpful with the menu. His knowledge of the food was great and his recommendation for our meal was spot on. The atmosphere was great and the food was exceptional. We cant wait to revisit the restaurant and try a new dish. Hats off the Chef's.
Great meal and service
Wine list is nice, but overpriced. They are charging 3x retail which over the top for this restaurant in a college town. The food was overspice. We had way too many chili pepper flakes on our broccoli and the root squash was way over salted. The 10oz filet, while not listing it on the menu, had way too pepper on it. That said, out server was perfect.
We had a reservation at 8:30pm and were not seated until after 8:45. Once we were seated, service was average. The wagu was over cooked.
Overall the experience was good. Our service was great and staff had knowledgeable feedback for our questions. 2 of the menu items we were interested in were out for the night so that was disappointing, and the substitute (beef cheeks) for one was fine if a bit rich/unbalanced. The cornbread was fantastic as was the bananas foster.
The food was very good!
The food was good not great. The service was poor. Our waitress had no idea about the menu and food preparation and to make matters worse she really didn’t care that she didn’t know. Her attitude in general was flippant. The menu in general was limited. Up side, The George Hotel is great. The lobby bar was a fun way to finish our evening.
Great server. Sat at the bar and had a great lunch and good drinks. Nice atmosphere with great menu.
Fantastic food and service
Steaks were way over done even though specified how we wanted them cooked, and way over seasoned. Too salty. Carrots were delicious but collard greens very bitter. Noise level unbearable. Wanted to take my freshman for a nice steak dinner and visit but impossible to hold a conversation. Also all sides separate so very expensive. Over $200 for three people with two glasses of wine and one dessert.
Everything is delicious! Not to be missed are the quail legs! Best ever! Steaks are tender and lamb shank is out of this world! Sasha was a great waitress!! Service was extremely attentive! Wonderful wine list!
Our favorite place to go.
An attractive dining spot made casual with patrons in t-shirts and baseball caps and a high noise level in part due to hard acoustic surfaces, not a quiet romantic environment. Service was acceptable to good. Although I don't mind paying for value, the food quality did not match the prices. While correctly cooked, the salty Berkshire chop rested on bland creamy grits with four soft carrots. The tenderloin was basic, nothing special. The wedge salad good. Will not be rushing back.
Our reservations were for 7:45pm - unfortunately on "ring day", so the restaurant was full. The waiter was attentive, the wine came, the appetizers came - and then we waited. At 9pm we asked the manager where our food was. The food finally showed up at 9:10pm. One person was not longer hungry, my son and his date asked for their food in a box, they had papers due at midnight.
This was our second visit to Porter's, the first was excellent, this visit was rather poor. Something fell apart in the kitchen, the food took way too long. Would I give Porter's another chance - yes.
Anniversary and ring dunk - no acknowledgement. Brought the wrong side dish, then brought the correct one near the end of meal. What a joke, have your potatoes for your desert- shouldn’t have not been charged.
Food. service was fantastic! The price was very reasonable.
Exceptional dining experience ~ the rib eye was cooked perfectly, paired with the mushrooms, broccolini, and delicious potatoes ~ thank you for a delightful evening on our date night out! Perfectly flavored and prepared, we could not have been happier ~ thank you!

Excellent food and service. Look forward to returning.
We delivered a pig for the chef, and decided that we might as well have an early dinner while we were in town. We were early, so the restaurant was not busy at all. That being said, service was excellent, a nice variety of craft beer, incredible oysters on the halfshell and wedge salad. The entrees were unbelievable, with our absolute fav being the braised beef cheeks. Ranks with one of the best bites ever! Plus they support local farms like ours. Thank you, Porters!

This was our fourth trip to Porter’s. I guess everyone has an off day sometimes and that was the case for the restaurant this trip. Our server was inexperienced butt tried to bluff his way through. Drinks were great, steak was good but not fabulous. My bet is that it was just an off night and we will certainly be back to enjoy dining at Porters again soon.
We visited on a Sunday evening, our wedding anniversary. The staff was very attentive and we engaged the sommelier in a lively conversation and learned a lot. The food was excellent. They feature steak (mine was fabulous), but the fish dishes are noteworthy too.
Perfect as always...this Resturant and their management keep knowing it out of the park every time we dine there....my favorite place
Delicious! Great for our of town groups. We really enjoyed it!
Porters is as great as any big city 5 star restaurant. The wine selection freshness and flavor of the food it way high.
The best restaunt in CS.
The steak was exceptional while the prime rib and pork chop were both very good. All 4 of us found our sides to be over salted, especially the Mac and cheese which we all agreed couldn’t be eaten for more than a few bites. Service was excellent.
Unique/modern architectural and interior design. Food was excellent. Our business luncheon being on a Monday, there were very few other dining patrons. Wait staff was very attentive. The background music was too loud, and at times posed a barrier to business discussion. Overall, a very good dining experience, and value, especially for a business luncheon.
Perfectly prepared steaks and excellent sides. Very competent bar staff also.
Compliments to the chef, Chuck and everyone at Porters!
Great fresh fish!
They were very courteous from the get go and even though my girlfriend was content about her steak they were adamant about making sure it was a great experience. Kudos to the staff and the owner for making my 33rd Birthday a splendid one.
