The staff was very friendly and efficient. Most of the meals were great except for one of our friends whose pork was mostly fat. We were in a hurry to get to a play so she didn't return it. appetizers were excellent. Was not impressed with the almond torte it was very dry. I would go back and probably request the same waiter (Jeff) who was friendly and helpful in wine and food selections.
I took my wife here for our anniversary I was very pleased to say that this is a new refreshing restaurant in Hartford. It would’ve been nice if it was open later. But I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
Créative , authentic & delicious cuisine. Varied menu to accommodate any food lovers imagination. Upscale and inviting decor. Easily accessible w/ parking garage or valet service. Outstanding service. Rebekah was our waitress. She was delightful and efficient .
This was our first visit to Porron and Pina, and we were very impressed. After a slight delay, our waitress appeared and was helpful and efficient. She was very well informed about the menu items and provided useful guidance. We ordered several tapas (small plates), which were all large enough to share. The menu provides a nice variety of vegetarian tapas for non meat eaters. We thoroughly enjoyed our selections and look forward to trying others on our next visit.
Lots to choose from. Different items to order. All good. Only problem was our waitress did not get our bill correct and it took 3 times to get it right.
Great restaurant, food and drinks but the acoustics are horrible. So loud you couldnt even hear the people in front of you talking.
Was in Spain last October so was looking forward to trying Porron. In a word...FANTASTIC! First, Chelsea is one of (if not the) best server we've ever had. They didn't have Tinto di Verano on the drink menu (a staple on our trip). Chelsea figured out how to make it for us and it was spot on! She had opinions and never steered us wrong.
Tapas were authentic and excellent. Jamon Iberico is a must have (though they slice it more like prosciutto then the way they did in Spain). Same with Patas Bravas and the chorizo stuffed mushrooms.
The Secreto as an entree was amazing. Not sure how authentic it is, but the cauliflower risotto with black truffle was delicious too.
Brought us cava and a few other goodies for our anniversary as well.
They hit it out of the park. Going back with friends this weekend!
All around it was a pretty awful experience. Sparkling wine was room temperature. The first 2 wine selections they were out of. Poured still water in our sparkling water. Extremely slow service. Some food was okay and some was terrible.
They have been open long enough to be better organized!
We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here. Everyone was was very helpful, attentive and accommodating. Seems like the people that work here genuinely enjoy it. The food was the most decadent that I have had in a long time. I was not disappointed by anything. Definitely have the red sangria.
Wine list is extensive and well-priced. Two of us (friends going to the theater) shared 4 tapas, 3 from the happy hour menu, and we really enjoyed the ones we chose- smoked duck legs, asparagus, chorizo stuffed mushrooms and some prosciutto. I would have enjoyed a whole meal out of the duck legs. We didn’t have time for dessert but I will be back. The service was fine and I’m sure it will get smoother. And once the lights were adjusted down a bit, the ambience was pretty good, but still a little bright.
Much too loud. Couldn't carry on conversation with friends.
Great food and drinks!!! Really enjoyed it. Bar is fun and dining was excellent. Mushrooms and duck legs were both fantastic tapas
Service was great. I’m Beyonce was good. Starter plates were also very good, but cooking and doneness of entrées was inconsistent and erratic.
Everything was great-food, service, ambiance and it was not too noisy! We will definitely return!
Evening out with work friends before going to an event at the Bushnell. We caught happy hour and were able to sample a variety of tapas and enjoy a glass of wine. We found the food, service, ambiance and experience to be top notch. Definitely want to come back again soon with my husband. We raved about our meal to all our colleagues the next day.
Fantastic service, tasty food. Relaxing.
Absolutely amazing! So glad we tried it.
Second visit since they opened. Food was excellent, especially the ham and cheese boards, duck legs, fish bites, paella. Took another couple, I wanted to do a full entrée but the tapas were so good the first time that we decided to try those again - great choice. Service was much better this time. Will be going back soon.
My wife and I were warmly greeted even after arriving a few minutes late. Chelsea took over our dining experience from there and we snacked on octopus, and a fantastic mangalista ham that was so rich the fat melted in our mouths. There are so many great ideas all over the menu, but we had to draw the line which means we'll be back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.
Lovely setting, excellent food and wonderful staff. We ordered the plank salmon and it was fabulous!
Thanks Chef Tyler.
Definitely a meal to remember! Jules was fantastic and knowledgeable. Great food, cocktails and wine!
This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem in a city that is trying to desperately come back alive after years of having no top tier cuisine to choose from. Chef Tyler takes you on a delicious journey through Spain and the Mediterranean from start to finish. The cheeses & hams are delectable and fresh, the monkfish is exquisite, the duck succulent and the desserts are rich enough to keep you wanting more, but not too heavy. I would recommend this restaurant to groups that want to share and enjoy a bottle of wine, to couples that want to try food a little more exquisite to what they may normally eat.
I was wowed by everything Porron & Pina had to offer. We arrived a half hour before our reservation and had a few cocktails at the bar. It was comfortable, casual, and had such creative cocktails that I had never seen anywhere else! When we sat down to dinner, the service was excellent, everyone from the owner to the manager to the hostess was so pleasant and accommodating, the food was incredible, I could go on and on. Overall, I can't wait to go back!
As a huge fan of the chef at Porron I had high expectations and definitely was not disappointed. The ambiance was wonderful and so different from anything else in the area, one could easily forget they are in Hartford. As for the food, the options are plentiful and frankly it all sounded delicious. We opted for one of their imported prosciuttos and the olives which everyone raved about. For meals 3 of us got the sustainable fish of the day which was a sea bass with a pimentos sauce - all of us were blown away and not a bite was left behind. One of the things I really enjoyed about their menu was being able to select which side you want with your dish. As a relatively picky eater this was a huge bonus for me. For dessert we had their version of creme brûlée which was much lighter and airier with a citrus twist to it as well as the highly recommended churr-o's (churro donuts) and both were delightful. Do not hesitate to book a table at Porron!!
The food was fabulous. Everything we ate and drank was delicious, I have to credit that to not only the chefs and bartenders but also our server Chelsea. Her knowledge and enthusiasm about the menu and the establishment were unparalleled. Thank you for making our anniversary and introduction to the “New Goodwin” at Restaurant Porron an amazing experience.
Wonderful service. Food definitely a cut above. Small plates -the duck legs showcase why the judges on those cooking shows go on and on about crispy duck skin beautifully prepared the sweetness of the glaze pairs well with the duck. The stuffed mushrooms had just enough spice in the sausage filling. Highly recommend the lobster fideo wonderfully complex flavor. The lobster flavor truly infuses into the pasta. More than I could finish extra bonus the leftovers were even better the next day
The food was
Not being a fan of Spanish cuisine, I did not know what to expect, but knowing Tyler Anderson was in the kitchen, I expected to be wowed. I was not disappointed! The duck leg appetizer was delicious. My sea bass was outstanding. I had a taste of quail which my wife ordered, and it, too, was wonderful. Our waitress, Chelsea, was very engaging, efficient and attentive. The ambiance was warm and friendly. It felt like you were dining in a Spanish grotto. A wonderful experience all around. It is also worth your while to visit Pina, the high end bar located down a short hallway from the restaurant. Tyler Anderson’s concept is a winner!
Amazing dinner! Food was fabulous, service was great, and we can’t wait to try everything else on the menu next time! The smoked duck was beyond amazing, and the parsnips were so flavorful and unique! We loved every tapa we tried, and the chicken entree was cooked perfectly as well! Wonderful experience. Can’t wait to go back!
Only slight hickups that were purely grand opening related. We will definitely go back.
