Porron and Pina
Tue–Thu 5:00 pm–9:00 pm
Fri, Sat 5:00 pm–10:00 pm
Another fabulous meal at Porron... one of these days I’ll try Pina!
The food and service were great. The noise level was out of this world making the evening very unpleasant. We had to leave to be able to speak to each other. We will not likely be back.
First time there had an awesome time. Would definitely come back again.
Wonderful meal. I had the salmon, which was cooked to perfection and my friend had the special of the evening, halibut. We both enjoyed our email a great deal. My only negative was that I would have liked a bit more kale salad, which I had as a side. I found the salad delicious, but the portion a bit too small.
Wine list is interesting, with ample selection.
Good restaurant, nice setting in a renovated hotel. A bit loud. Very interesting menu though a little surprised it hasn’t transitioned to fall items vs. summer items. Side dishes very good and creative- roasted carrots, octopus etc. nice wine list. Service was solid. Definitely worth a visit.
The menu and wine selection were terrific. The staff recommended several of the tapas selections and they were delicious. Great atmosphere and ambiance. Highly recommend.
We had an awesome meal at Poron this week. It was our first time there. The food was interesting, well prepared and offered a ton of variety. The room was very pleasant. Our waiter was excellent - one of the best we've had in a long time. We will be back.
The food was very tasty and well-presented. Portions were reasonable to allow for appetizers, dinner and desert, which I would recommend. Beware of the noise levels. The ceilings are relatively low and surfaces are hard, so it's a loud space. If you're planning on a romantic dinner the noise level may be a distraction. Service was friendly, but a bit slow, which was likely the result of a busy kitchen since we were there on a night when a concert was being held at the XCEL center across the street.
Wonderful food in a great atmosphere. We stopped in before the Eagles concert and we were so happy with everything. The Jamon Iberico is overprice compared to places I've found it in Providence or Boston (and Spain, of course). Food and drinks were great, and Brittany was a wonderful friendly server!
Very noisy on Saturday night. I understand staff cannot control exuberant parties. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. Hostess was very personable and efficient. Server was fair. Asked if we wanted bread then did not bring it out. When we asked for wine refill, only brought one glass. When desert was served, did not bring any silverware. Food was very good.
Nice place, food not as good as expected. Small plates were better than the paella which seemed to have been cooked too fast, flavor profile in the lobster risotto just didn’t make sense.
Went here for dinner before a show at the Bushnell. We shared a monkfish starter and both had the catch of the day (halibut). Both we delicious. The sides were a little lacking in taste and we felt that the entree’s should have included a vegetable. The service was excellent and a good reason to return.
I enjoyed the meal. I did not order tapas, had the salmon, which was very good. The tapa choice that came with the meal was excellent. Patatas Bravas. Next time, maybe just the tapas. Service was wonderful and the decor of the entire place was very cool!
Our dinner, including the service, was outstanding!
went here a couple of times before Bushnell events. we only ordered a bunch of small plates, so I can't speak to the main courses, but everything we had (duck legs, roasted carrots, patatas bravas, addictive marcona almonds) was tasty. some interesting wines by the glass. most importantly, they were able to get us out in a timely manner so we didn't have to sprint across the park, unlike some other establishments in town that always seem ill-prepared for pre-theater crowds (yes, I mean you, Trumbull Kitchen).
Excellent food and service. Will definitely go back again!
The food and drinks were absolutely yummy! We were there on a night with a big name concert at the XL center and they appeared to be under staffed. That is the only reason for the 3 star rating on service.
We were dining before a concert at the XL Center and the restaurant was very busy. They sat us at a booth in the bar area and we did not have a server, just the bar tender waiting on us, as well as making drinks for the whole restaurant, serving guests at the bar and all the other tables in the room. We ordered 3 glasses of wine and 1 martini. The martini did not come out until after dinner. 1/2 of our food came out and the rest was forgotten. A bus boy come to drop of the check and brought some free churros for all the trouble and we told him we still hadn’t received the other 1/2 of our order or the martini. The food eventually came out but it was not good! They were nice enough to remove the martini from the check but what a mess!!!! I also used the ladies room and there was no toilet paper- i told the host and he just said “I know” and walked away. Very poorly run business! Will not dine there again!!!
Wonderful service and food. Our server recommended a perfect Spanish white wine. We split several tapas which were all great. Potatoes, tortilla, turnips, monkfish were all terrific. Looking forward to returning.
Service was good. Food served luke warm and average
Our server was fantastic!
Only good for the tapas, do not order the paella. Hostess was the best, never saw our designated server once.
Great menu with many delicious options to share or enjoy to yourself. The care taken in crafting the layers of flavor shows through. A great addition to downtown Hartford from an awesome restaurateur.
Nice menu. Drinks were nice. Food was okay, a bit too salty. We tried a number of things and everything except kale salad ended up being excessively salty.
We were just here on a Thursday evening. At 6 pm the place was so quiet, and I have no idea why. The food was spectacular and original. Everything was expertly prepared, and the service was wonderful. We started with cocktails and decided on an assortment of tapas and salads, later splitting the cauliflower orzo “risotto” as a final course. Really, folks, have dinner here! Is is wonderful for any number of occasions. Selfishly, I always want to be able to get a table, but they deserve a crowd of hungry diners!
Wasn't too sure about making a reservation at a "hotel restaurant," and we were very pleasantly surprised. V Had planned on just getting tapas, but the prix fixe menu was so tempting and such a great value -- the two of us shared two different tapas (which were delicious and very creatively conceived), an excellent paella, and two delicious desserts (a bread pudding and churros). The atmosphere was very low key/casual, but the waiter was extremely attentive. A very pleasant way to spend an evening!
Tyler Anderson has done it again! The food is fantastic, the environment is relaxing and calm. Romantic but chilled out environment. A great way to enjoy upscale food at an affordable price. 10/10 will go back!
The only restaurant in downtown restaurant that can boast of three fresh paellas served nightly. The fare is of Spanish inspiration -- the tapas were terrific, especially the potatoes bravas, zanahorias asadas (carrots in vinaigrette) and the strangely titled Tokyo Turnips. Get here while they are still new to town. It is filling up on weeknights, though still a little open on weekends.
Truly excellent Spanish cuisine.
absolutely killed it. from food to service. go here now
Foood and service very good. Happy hour prices on appetizers and wine until 6:30.
Absolutely enjoy it. Great food and amazing service.
A delicious addition to the Hartford dining scene.
Food was fantastic and since it was a new cuisine for us it was fun to try different things! Service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was casual yet upscale. Will definitely go back!!!!
What a wonderful restaurant. It was our anniversary and we were treated like family.
Such awesome food and drinks.
We did choose the prix fix meals and they were outstanding.
Thank you for the great night.
Tyler Anderson is a sweet gem of a chef and may he shine forever.
Kayleigh was a wonderful server and all the food was exceptional. My husband and I split several tapas and a bottle of wine. The portions were generous enough that we were both satisfied. And of course we had dessert. The churros were to die for. We will definitely be back very soon!
The ambiance is beautiful, but prepare yourself to over pay for mediocre food.
Was really looking forward to a nice dinner - and while it was “okay”, nothing we had except dessert really excited us. Everything was “interesting”. We had at least 8 different tapas and do bd at least two to be too salty. Others so-so, chocolate donut bread pudding and churros worth the trip!
As always, Páron was wonderful!
