The food was delicious, and our server was friendly and attentive. However, we were very disappointed upon arrival when, after having made a reservation for 8pm, we were told we would have to wait another 15 to 20 minutes and then were not seated until half an hour later. The apology from the host was minimal, and this event was treated as if it were more of a norm than an exception. For this reason, in spite of the positive dining experience afterwards, we do not plan to return to the restaurant.

3rd time here, excellent small plates and wine list. Restaurant and Hotel Goodwin excellent staff and service. Real Spanish food and wines available. We will be back as often as we can!

Excellent ambiance and service. Interesting menu. Very poor execution of the food. Quails could have been game hens. Bland, flat taste, spice was not pronounced. Flank steak was tasteless. Awful. Dessert was a chocolate bread pudding. Underflavored! Spanish food should taste smoky, unctuous and surprising. Do guys have any pimenton?
It was wife's birthday and taste let her down. Except cocktails. Wow! Wonderful bartending!

i’ll cut to the chase...my bestie and i had a very good meal- oysters, burrata, porron salad, beef tenderloin, a few glasses of wine. we were seated around 6:50pm-after we finished the tenderloin, our server Mike abruptly dropped off the check and thanked us for coming. we were surprised b/c he never asked if we wanted dessert, coffee, tea. i dont recall any awkward moments prior to this such that he would want to get rid of us.
the time was around 9:10pm and i checked the time b/c i thought the kitchen must be closing. it was a saturday nite, so the kitchen was probably open until 10, i’m guessing. at any rate, we paid the check and walked over to their lounge down the hall. if you find yourself in downtown hartford, then check out this place. otherwise, i wouldnt make a special trip to go there.

I would give Porron and Pina a second chance. We went the night after Valentine's Day. Thought the Tortilla Espana was overcooked. My wife said it could have been because it was prepared in the oven, and not on the stove. It is a noisy restaurant, though.

The restaurant & hotel are stunning. I am a big fan of their morning donut shop and cocktail drinks, but I was disappointed by their restaurant. I made reservations for their Valentine's day dinner and the food was very underwhelming for the price. Unfortunately, I was adviced of this by other friends but decided to give them a chance.

We went for Valentine’s Day so we could not select items from the normal menu. But what we did get was fantastic. My only negative comment is I was not impressed with the dessert. But again I need to go back and see if desert items from the normal menu are better.

A terrific new restaurant. The food was really good, and the noise level was bearable because they kept the music at a background level. I’ll defin go again!

Food as fabulous as ever.
There seems to be some inconsistency between staff understanding of Happy Hour times and terms, and those posted on the internet. Waiter graciously "honored" our understanding (based on internet) but shouldn't have to...
Will be back many times...

The food was good (not great) however, it was the atmosphere and service that we thought stood out the most. Great place to sit and enjoy company and good conversation.

We enjoyed our dinner very much. Friendly, attentive waiter knowledgeable about the food and wine. Food was very good, although I would have enjoyed more non meat offerings.

Seemingly small things can ruin an experience.
My wife and I ordered Prosecco and Cava to start. The waitress asked whether we wanted them served in coupes or wine glasses. Coupes may be fine for twenty somethings and retro movies, but they're great for ruining sparkling wine. When I said please serve in wine glass, she brought two Bordeaux glasses. Not a flute in sight. Waitress brought wine to table in single serve wine servers, so it was poured twice and absolutely flat. Not much class from a place that purports to be fairly upscale. Tapas for starters were good (mushroom bread and brussel sprouts), especially the mushroom bread. Entrees, salmon and quail were also good, but not exceptional. Wait times were fine, although we were seated a half hour late from reservation time. Bottom line - newspaper reviews overrated this place. I'll go back, but no rush.

I asked my Hartford friend, Will, for a dinner recommendation and he suggested Perron & Pina. We are glad we went. This experience makes us want to plan a long weekend in Hartford and try out all the new restaurants.

First timers. Did Restaurant Week special. Interesting and different menu. Liked many flavor combos. Great service and comfortable dining for conversation. Will go again.

Food was very tasty and portion size was just right. Service was good but the restaurant is losing potential money. Was never asked if we would like another drink or after dinner drink or coffe. A server should always ask the diner’s if they need or want anything else during the meal or before presenting the bill. But we would still come back and recommend to our friends.

Had 6:00pm reservations for this past Saturday night. The waiter took our order and our appetizers and wine came out promptly. After waiting about 35 minutes for the main course I asked the waiter to check on our dinners. He comes back and says they are plating them. After another 15 minutes and seeing another table of patrons sit down about 15 minutes after us, get their appetizers and dinner, I asked one of the managers to check on our dinners. Fortunately it was finally served to the table. My guess is that the kitchen misplaced our order and when the waiter told us they were plating it, they realized their mistake and started preparing our dinner. This was a very disappointing experience.

Even though we had terrible service, the food was excellent.

Service was a little slow, server wasn’t really watching the table enough for empty glasses or if we were ready to order food. Made up for it w/ added deserts at the end of night. Food was good although paella was a little undercooked. Expected a little more considering the head chef.

We had a wonderful time. The food and service were well above expectations for a Taste of Hartford week. We are looking forward to returning during a non-event week.

This was my third visit to Porron and Pina. As I said to my dinner companions upon leaving after the most recent trip, "I've never had a single thing that I didn't like."
I am typically concerned that portions may not be sufficient. Not here. Not only did one of my dinner companions comment that her entre had "so much food here," but we even ended up taking several portions of the small plates home! The food is memorable! You must try the Smoked Duck Legs and the Chorizo Stuffed Mushrooms. Outstanding!
My only issue was with the service. Not sure if the server was responsible for too many tables, but it was uneven and lacking in the attention that I would have expected. Nevertheless, I will return again and again.

Perron and Pina had a very cozy and warm atmosphere with a comfortable noise level. The ambiance was welcoming with warm lighting and friendly staff. There is a diverse menu of tapas and eccentric entrees. The cucumber and lavender collins was very unique and the smoked duck legs were delicious. The server maintained a good balance of checking in with us and leaving us to our private conversation. The bar also looked great for happy hour.

The food was very good, the service was just ok, the hostess was a complete mess, she sat us at a table next to the kitchen, when I asked to be moved somewhere else she said those tables were for reservations, although she knew we had reservations, then she asked us do we want tap or sparkling water and when said sparkling, 7-8 minutes later she tried to give us tap water. Cocktails arrived one at a time after our appetizers were served. Once again food was excellent and I have been to is other restaurant Millwright’s and service was as good as the food, this we found disappointing because of the service issues

The only reason I did not rate the restaurant a total 5 : we had an 8 pm reservation, and were not seated until approx 8:15-8:20. The portions are not huge but certainly were delicious. We ordered paella and halibut - both entrees excellent. Appetizers - octopus, chorizo stuffed mushrooms. Again - extremely tasty. Will definitely return on our next visit to Hartford. Loved the jazz in the bar area too!

There was a very loud group in the back room with us. We could not hear our own conversation with each other. As new customers also were seated in the room, each couple were also disappointed by the noise. The echo in the room should be addressed and then don’t place small tables in a room that was meant for a private party.
