Nearly 70 years after its arrival onto the San Diego boutique hotel landscape, Point Loma’s iconic mid-century modern Pearl Hotel has unveiled the latest chapter in its storied history with an ambitiously reimagined restaurant and bar: Ponyboy. The inspiration behind Ponyboy extends beyond its décor and menu. Named after the protagonist of S.E. Hinton’s The Outsiders, the restaurant conveys the spirit of individuality and rebellion in a time when hope and resilience were pivotal to navigating the challenges of a changing world. Guests will sense the nod to cultural iconography as they step into a space that feels familiar and refreshingly new. The ambiance is designed to harken back to a bygone era when traditional American comfort foods and elaborate dinner parties were both fashionable and fun. Absolutely loved our dinner and stay here. Such a fun, funky vibe. My partner had the chicken Kiev, I had the ahi tuna casserole, and we shared the exquisite Brussels sprouts with Parmesan and Caesar dressing. Dessert was the housemade rocky road ice cream. The menu is eclectic, an homage to the 1950s Americana comfort food, but highly elevated. You won’t dine anywhere else like this!

We had an amazing dinner at the poneyboy. Our service was excellent, the space was cool and hip, and food was delicious! We enjoyed eating supper by the pool. Our favorite part was the fondue for 2. The cheese was incredible and the roasted veggies were beyond delicious. Perfect experience and would recommend for an enjoyable and tasty retro dinning experience.

What a gem! Ponyboy at The Pearl is such a vibe—cozy, and effortlessly swanky with those dreamy mid-century modern touches and poolside ambiance. The food? Delicious. I had the Juicy Lucy Wagyu burger, so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The Hugo Spritz cocktail was equally on point, crisp and refreshing. Service was warm, friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to come back for another chic night out!

Awesome, retro vibe with old black and white films playing on the projector above the pool! I’m always a fan of unique spots, especially if they actually have good food (which it definitely did).

This was the cutest, vibist restaurant! I definitely recommend sitting by the pool if you go in for happy hour or dinner. It’s very asthetic and the food was so homey and amazing! We got the wagyu burger stuffed with cheese and the chicken Kiev and it was so yummy. My friend had a pina colada and it came out in such a cute little tiki cup and she said it was wonderful. Would reccomend for fun or date night!

Whole team was amazing! Kristyn SLAYED it! A gem of a server and so attentive. Ian and bartender were amazing too! Best prime rib I’ve ever had. My guests all want to go back with their hubbies.
