OK I have to say I love your restaurant, the food is great, service is good but really guys who is in charge of the noise level of your music? If you wanna be a bar that's fine but c'mon 11:00 Am on a Saturday morning blaring really bad remixes of Ed Sheehan is totally off the mark.
It was impossible to have a conversation; we had to move out to the patio. Also who ever chooses your music has no idea what is appropriate by day part, We arrived at 11 :30 with eurobeats at full volume; which I would have no issue with at 9pm or later on a Saturday night but this is early on a Saturday, really? I've been involved in the hospitality industry for years and this genre of music at this hour is ridiculous unless your in Ibiza. Later it went to a more chilled vibe which was appropriate for the time of day. Once again the food was wonderful service great but the ambiance was spoiled. BTW there were maybe a dozen customers for lunch on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, wonder why?
Heard of this restaurant for its diversity, both in cuisine, personnel and overall presentation. Nice setting and well appointed surroundings. Also very impressed with their philosophy and supportive of their efforts.
With regard to the food, not very impressed. I ordered the fish dish (grouper) which was not tasty and one of the pricier items on the menu. My wife ordered the fried chicken which was prepared with a gravy she did not particularly care for. Corn bread was interesting.
If you are not a millennial, this restaurant is probably not for you. Very reluctant not to give a good review, but we will not return even as we recommend others try it for them selves. We wish the restaurant success.
Party of 7 (with reservation-although obviously not needed) went for dinner on a Sunday night. We were the only customers in the restaurant. Music from the bar was blasting. We asked 3 times for it to be lowered; if it was, it was barely noticeable. One of our guests requested a gluten free menu; took about 10 minutes to get. The busboy told us about a dinner special but the waitress had no clue. One of our party ordered an appetizer they were “out of” but it also took a long time for that information to be conveyed. The appetizers, at least, were tasty and good. 5 of the 7 of us ordered the same Indian style fried chicken. One ordered a burger, another shrimp & grits. It took about 45 minutes to be served our meal. At the 1/2 hour mark, one of the party asked the manager about the delay, particularly as there were no other tables being served in the restaurant. Instead of being gracious and asking if she could get us anything while we were waiting, she tried to argue the amount of time it was taking based on what the ticket showed as the time our waitress submitted our order. Really poor management/customer service skills. When the food finally arrived, it was warm-ish (not hot), the hamburger looked like shoe leather (nothing juicy and tasty about it). We probably shouldn’t have even stayed when we walked in and saw the place was empty but we didn’t want to have to drive around on a Sunday night. Other than enjoying each other’s company, the restaurant experience was absolutely poor. If they cannot support customers on a Sunday night or don’t have amiable staff who want to work that night, then close the restaurant on Sundays! Definitely will not return.
This is our second try. The food is underwhelming for the price, service as well. It’s a shame because it’s a great space and close to where I live but we won’t be going back.
We've dined at Poitin before (and enjoyed) but food/service was a bit disappointing this outing. Any real decline may have been telegraphed by fact the restaurant was essentially empty during prime time. Wish them well but no reason to return.
Food was just meh. I had the gnocchi and the texture of the dish was like eating baby food. The whole thing was very soft and mushy. The flavor wasn’t that bad but I was very bored with eating it after 3 bites. We also had the shrimp remoulade. The shrimp were cut lengthwise instead of leaving them whole so that you get a nice juicy bite of whole shrimp it was a floppy piece of very over cooked shrimp. I’ve eaten all over the whole world and in many fine restaurants and have never seen shrimp cut like that. It was also way over dressed with the remoulade sauce. Cocktails were just ok. The best part of the evening was manager Victoria. She was wonderful. Very friendly and wanting to make a great experience for us. Unfortunately the kitchen let us down.

Great place, great bar and restaurant. I'm a big G&T person, they have a house made tonic, which made my G&T un-drinkable. Otherwise, the other drinks are great as is the food. Love the smokey old fashioned.
It was a wonderful Saturday evening at Poitin. We sat at the bar and Alexandra and a nice bearded bartender took good care of us. The drinks they pour are great. I had the smoked Old Fashion. Fabulous. We got the octopus to share as well as the shrimp. The lamb and the gnochi were terrific and the best thing about Poitin is the view of downtown as the sun goes down and dark. Fun place.
We weren’t wowed by the food and the service was ridiculously slow on a very slow night.
Outstanding HRW menu roasted bone marrow, salisbury steak and buttercream cake for dessert. Portions were huge and tasted wonderful. I was skeptical ordering the Salisbury steak but the server assured me it was good, it wasn’t; it was wonderful! Its not on the regular menu though. Going again for brunch. Great ambiance full view of downtown

A little bummer that at least 5 items that we wanted they didn't have, they were out of a couple beers, the lamb neck, kombucha ...
But the food was still good and drinks are really nice.
We were a party of 12 and our service was great! Most of us chose the Restaurant Weeks menu which was fantastic! Every dish we got was awesome!
Sitting at the bar is wonderful. Hector and Hannah were a delight. Creative, knowledgeable, friendly and charming. The food for restaurant week was excellent. The shrimp remoulade was delicious and an unexpected preparation. Vegetables were the surprise star of the salmon dish. Calvestrano olives? Yum! The butter cake with peaches was down home delicious. It is a big space so you might have to wait for a host to get back up to the front after performing some duty but it is worth the wait.
The views of downtown in the changing light alone are worth the trip. A great place!
Informed host this was a special anniversary dinner yet she placed us at a basic side corner table, there was only ONE other table with customers in the whole dining area for the entire time we were there. Waiter changed in middle of our meal and was slow to get the check. Food was over priced and not great, steak was chewy, chicken was over cooked, potatoes were stale.
The best thing about Poitin is the space. There is a great view of down town and and excellent bar. The food is good and reasonably priced, the staff are friendly. It's a very good place for a casual dinner, happy hour or social evening.
This was a great experience! Fantastic service and food! The service was attentive without being annoying. The server was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks! Best fried chicken on the planet and I am not even a fan of fried chicken!
Waiter did not have much knowledge of the menu. One person waited about 25 minutes for their drink and another had undercooked Salmon
The staff was very accommodating. We arrived early for our Open Table reservation but we were able to be seated. Only glitch was having to ask for pepper for a salad.
Brunch was delicious. Service was a little slow while restaurant was nearly empty.

I had a lot of hope for Poitín. Service was good but the food was not. I’m from the South, dry crumbly cornbread, Mushy shrimp and undercooked, flavorless grits is unacceptable. Dessert was to be a lemon tarragon cake which tasted like neither... the martini was the best thing I had at the restaurant. Sad.
The food was very good; however, I was a bit disappointed that our favorite waitress was no longer there. Also, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't a Father's Day "special" menu on Sunday.
Came here for the view of Houston, celebrate Fathers Day and to try something different. Everything was perfect! The waiter was amazing, food taste like heaven, and sitting on the patio looking at H TOWN, was icing on the cake! Will go back for sure!
Our group of 4 ordered 10 dishes to share, and then 3 desserts to share. A couple were really excellent and some were just OK. At a place that has received so many glowing accolades over the last year we were hoping for a delicious meal from start to finish, but we all agreed the experience was sort of uneven. I had a simple wine question that seemed to be challenging for two different people to answer. Service was very friendly, but lacking in things like bringing new plates and silverware (which you really need when sharing 10 dishes) unless requested. Loved the interior design and the neighborhood.
It took us several attempts to finally make it, and we are so glad we did! Everything was outstanding and so much fun. I hope this is a staple of the up coming area for years to come! We will be back!
Excellent food and service as always at Poitín.
The food was a little ... tepid. I think that there was a lot of potential and foodie buzz words, but just slightly sloppily executed, and not worth the money. I love picked okra, but theirs was too tough and, once fried, was nearly inedible. I think that a lot of the produce used was not picked for freshness, it was picked for ease or need, and with smaller restaurants (especially since we were there early and it was relatively empty), they can take a little more care with the ingredients.
I appreciate that they have a parking lot. Especially in that area.
Terrible. Overpriced and limited options, food was not good. Everyone in my group was grumpy at the end. They also had discontinued menu items like avocado toast. Who discontinues avocado toast?! It’s got a cool layout and patio but they need to overhaul the kitchen and menu.
Great space, great service, great bar, great food AND you can stroll through the Sawyer Yards before or after your meal. What's not to like?

I really wanted to like this place but my overall experience was pretty disappointing. We were a little turned off when we first arrived due to it being Friday night and the place seemed to be empty. However, we decided to give them a try any way. The hostess which we later found out was the manager took us to our seats. He was really dry and not friendly at all. Luckily our waiter was great. We decided to order the Cajun mixed grill, which was actually tasty but not fresh at all. The beef tips seemed to be the only thing that was made fresh, the sausage was cold and the shrimp seemed like they were old or recooked. The place was not busy at all so there is no excuse for poor food. Long story short, we told our server about our food and he said he would ask the manger to come by. The manger/ host came by and started cleaning our table but never introduced his self as the manger nor discussed with us our concerns. Now I see why the place is the way it is because of poor management.
This is a great place for outdoor dining. The view is spectacular. The service was good during our visit and the drinks are quite good. Food, a little less so.

I’ve been waiting for a couple months to try this place. Exuded yo go for an anniversary. It was a weeknight. It was not crowded at all. The wait staff was very engaged and knowledgeable about cocktails as well as recommendations on the menu. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience with excellent cocktails and a southern spin on various dishes. The bone in pork belly was beyond delicious! I look forward to a next visit.
4/21/19 easter brunch with family was delicious and delightful with an excellent view, menu selections certain to please as well as wonderful service
