   So, The Fishers Group taking over Playa was a brilliant boon to foodies everywhere. They have renovated the space with a casual chic vibe. The food is Fishers high quality--tasty and innovative. The staff is friendly and professional. Add Playa to your list of favorites--I did.

   What a gem of a restaurant! The ambiance and scenery was excellent. We had the guacamole your way which was fresh and really well composed - I mixed it myself. It was a cool twist I didn’t exactly expect. We ordered drinks that were very good; Chili Old Fashioned and Big Blue Gin. Both were really well done. For dinner we ordered the Playa Burger and the Taco Bowl. I know the names don’t thrill, but the dishes were amazing. If you’ve never had a burger with grilled pineapple, try it! I’m a purest when it comes to burgers almost always, but this was extremely well played. The bowl was so fresh and tasted amazing. We pretty much ate off each others plates to enjoy all the tastes. Great little restaurant with some unique offerings!

    Our waitress and entire staff was very attentive and friendly. The Michelada was not as good as I've had before, so I just drank the extra beer she brought me. The shrimp sandwich was very tasty and the burger was good. So big, we took half the burger home. View was great.

    We enjoy Playa every time we are in town. The food is always excellent. On this trip, we got appetizers (street corn, shrimp ceviche, and orange ribs), entrees (coconut grouper, seared tuna, and taco bowl), and drinks (spicy margarita and spicy old-fashioned). Everything was excellent but the ceviche. We are normally big fans but this was almost like they put whole shrimp and sliced avocado in a bowl of extra-spicy salsa. It didn't have the fresh look and taste that all the other selections had. The corn is always a fan favorite but it is a little pricey. The tuna was seared perfectly and the coconut grouper was tasty just as always.

    Incredibly disappointed! We always end our vacation with a family dinner at Playa. The atmosphere was great, our waitress Sara was a complete mess! We had to ask what the special was, she had NO idea! Had to go look and come back. We then ordered some cocktails and an appetizer. Cocktails were amazing. Never got our appetizer (guacamole) asked for it when she finally checked in on us. She had NO clue where it was and quickly blamed the kitchen. As she ventured off to figure that out our dinner showed up. Minutes later the appetizer showed up which we ask they return it, which they did. Since our dinner had arrived long before the appetizer. Sara never checked in on us after that! Poor service to say the least! My husband’s steak was not edible! Full of gristle and tendons! My daughters salad was supposed to have grilled chicken, it came with some DRY weird looking chicken! After I flagged Sara down she blamed all that on the kitchen! Out of her hands she claimed! I did tell her we would except that meal to be comped which she did. We have always loved eating at Playa and to say this was a complete disaster is an understatement! Not the way we like to end our vacation at all!

    Really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere, location, and décor are nice. But all the new servers are struggling, the shrimp was overcooked, reservation system is not working as we still had a long wait, the table next to us got up and left because their food was so overcooked. Just a few changes and this could be a great place. The manager was trying hard and cleaning tables herself. Hopefully they'll get there because it has potential.

    it's an ultramodern, cold, place with no ambiance. food is marginal. They were out of both mahi mahi and grouper and it was only 5PM on a Wednesday! we wouldn't go back.

    Wish they allowed side substitutions (picky kid), but it was great overall. Food and drinks were delicious. Service was wonderful. No real complaints. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

    We had a very nice server, but it was his second day on the job. He should have had more help. This is a management issue. He did the best he could. Food and atmosphere was excellent. One of our favorite places.

    Playa is my go-to! Such a beautiful environment and the food is so fresh and delicious! The fried grits with goat cheese and pepper jelly is wonderful! Highly recommended the coconut grouper!

    Our server Lou was a delight! He was very helpful and made the evening fun! The house salad was delicious and the grilled swordfish was so fresh! Loved the tasty peel and eat shrimp. My Nephew got the rib appetizer and it was yummy! Great burger. Fries were good too! My sister got the tuna poke bowl and the rice was mushy and there was too much sauce. So that was the only set back. The atmosphere was wonderful and the views of the marina were lovely! All around great meal! Would highly recommend Playa! Fun spot!

    Playa Orange Beach has good food/drinks/desserts, good service and a great harbor view. This Jan through they had moderate priced lunch and dinner specials. We came twice for the dinner special of tenderloin filet with salad, fried potatoes , soft drinks and teas included. We are snowbirds visiting here to avoid winter's cold. The restaurant has recently finished remodeling the dining area so all is bright and new. The bare walls reflect some noise, but they are likely to put up some wall hangings to soften the noise.

    Our son and daughter in law gave us a gift card for Christmas. We had dinner here while on vacay for the winter months. I had the whole fish(red snapper) and my husband had filet Mignon. Both were wonderful and the service by David was also terrific. The coconut rice is something not to be missed.

    Very disappointed this time in Playa. There were not enough staff; and after reviewing dress code, we were very shocked to see very few people dressed accordingly, including staff. Food was above average but not what we have enjoyed in the past.

    We were on a "girls trip" this past weekend. There were 7 of us. The only place we wanted to eat on our one night that we did so, was Playa. I had been there before (several times) and it was fantastic when it first opened. The last time I went was two years ago, and the food was good, but the ambience and service was excellent. I know that getting help these days is hard, and I also know that it's the off-season, and that our server told us there was a flood and it knocked down the wall of windows that are really a huge part of the appeal to the entire restaurant, however, the tables were scratched and beat up, the walls partially bare, nothing appealing at all about the way the restaurant looked... Actually, if I were asked to describe what the restaurant looked like, I would say, "like no one cares." My $15 coconut margarita wasn't stirred at all and was watered down by ice that had melted. My $30 grouper was covered in very thick and salty breading, with a thin layer of fish on the inside. I could be wrong, but the salad dressing did not seem like what was described on the menu. It was spicy and salty as well. I ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes and it arrived in a cold dish, an ice cream scoop had been used, and they were cold. I asked for prosciutto to be taken off my fish, and our server said the chef doesn't like that and that the chef scares her. I never complain, I always pay my bill, and I am a very understanding person. Everyone has a bad day. But I was so disappointed. We only wanted one meal out, and we chose Playa. At the end of the day, our conversation and laughter was memorable and enjoyable. We LOVED this place when it was Shipps Harbor, and even loved it when it first opened as Playa. I will only go back once I know someone who has eaten there and can tell me that it was an excellent experience.

    First of all, the food and service were excellent, but since they were apparently going through renovations, the ambiance wasn’t what I had hoped for. Nevertheless. I can recommend Playa, and we’ll go back next time we’re at Orange Beach.

    Visited for a late lunch. The fried grits with goat cheese was amazing. Crisp fried but creamy on the inside. Garnished with a schmear of goat cheese and roasted red peppers. Awww I had the shrimp sandwich which was perfectly dressed with a crunchy bread and butter pickle. I added the street corn. It was wonderful and glad I did.
