Wonderful meal & excellent service. We will definitely be back!
This was our first visit since they moved. (I know it was a while ago.)
Food still outstanding, and the service as well. Found the wine list a bit off-putting. Few wines by the glass and some not available on a Saturday night? Otherwise no complaints about the menu.
Found it a little noisy but as tables cleared out it got more pleasant. Definitely a come back to place!
Not at this time
Everything was wonderful.
Great food and ambiance for a special occasion. We went on our anniversary. Service was first rate and food was outstanding.
New Years Eve dinner was superb! Halibut with risotto was delicious. Great fine dining restaurant for this area.
This was our first time at Plate and generally we liked the atmosphere. Nice bar and lounge atea. The tables aren’t too close and there wasn’t any kitchen noise. The food was excellent but a little pricey for the location and ambiance. The server was good with a nice personality but we decided she was over worked at the end as she forgot to bring the dessert we ordered and instead gave us the bill. It took some time to get her attention for the dessert, which wasn’t very noteworthy, and then again to pick up the the charge card to pay.
I would give it another try.
Excellent food service and atmosphere. I had a superb chicken dish and my wife enjoyed her ideally done scallops. More room between tables made for a quieter room, which I value. This is one of the few "fine dining" experiences in west Austin. I appreciate not having to drive to the downtown metropolis to enjoy it.
Wonderful Christmas eve dinner with family and friends. Food was outstanding and service impeccable.
Thanks for being open Christmas Eve! It was a great evening.
59th Wedding Anniversary
We made special reservations. Totally disappointed. Food was good, service was not. Large party of 10, so they added 20% tip, even on expensive wine. Very inappropriate, as the service was poor and they didn’t even pour the wine beyond the first glass. Example: asked 3 times for water, 4 times for ice, didn’t have a knife, finally grabbed one from nearby empty table. Pitiful.
Some of the best food in the area !! We go every time we are in town
Not sure I can recommend to anyone. The service and staff attitude needs much improvement if it is going to match the food which was excellent. We were celebrating our anniversary and they placed us in the center of the room between two large tables that were noisy. The laid back attitude of the staff may be acceptable to some but was not what we had experienced from a prior dining experience.
What a great surprise for us! Being newish to town, we had never dined at Plate before. The vibe is awesome, the food was extremely well prepared, and the service exceptional...who could want for anything more?
Nice evening. Halibut and lobster risotto were both outstanding. Short ribs were very good. Service attentive. The place is noisy.
Plate and our amazing server, Amy, were amazing with accommodating the several food allergies at our table. The food and drinks were excellent! Definitely one of our favorite restaurants.
Delicious ! We only get to visit Austin once a year but always visit Plate, its a must :)
Plate was a fantastic gem to find! The food was great and was quiet enough to visit with family we had not seen in a while.
I would highly recommend this for dinner! We will be going back with more friends and family for sure!
Nice place. Waited 15 minutes after being seated without water or drinks. Walked out at 16 minutes.
Dzintra is amazing! Great Dinner ,highly recommend.
Had family in town Thanksgiving weekend 2019, decided to try this place out. Honestly though ok, of 5 meals we ate out while they were here this one was the least tasty. Though it was memorable for undesirable reasons. The service was pretty terrible! No one was ever asked if they wanted a refill on their drinks. There were very few appetizers on the menu. In fact the menu was much smaller than I had expected. There were long stretches of time between them clearing away the appetizer/salad and bringing us our entrées and after entrées before desserts! We didn’t stay after to talk but were still there 3 hours! NO REFILLS in 3 HOURS! The food was ok to good depending on what you ate. I had the lasagna and felt that it was under par. It had far too much meat and ricotta and not enough PASTA, mozzarella or sauce for my taste. The overwhelming flavor was meat. My mother had the chicken said it was good but could have been seasoned better. The pasta dish and the porkchop dish were good from what I heard. The short ribs were most likely the best though one person of the 2 that got it thought that it was overly salty. I normally would give a restaurant another try but in my opinion it is too expensive for that luxury. I’ve always felt, if a restaurant doesn’t have salt and pepper on the table they may be too pretentious for my tastes!
For comparison the other places we ate:
Estancia Churrascaria for thanksgiving meal was AMAZING. The service there is unparalleled! It’s the 4th time we have been for thanksgiving and we will continue to do so!
Salt Trader for lunch on Black Friday was stupendous! I’m NOT a fan of sea food but their one chicken dish was heavenly. All others in attendance said it was all they could hope for and more in sea food!
Buenos Aires lunch on Wednesday before thanksgiving was stellar. Amazing salads, appetizers, entrées and the spicy chocolate crème brûlée is a delight!
Cafe Blue brunch on Saturday was very good. Perfect eggs benedict and more!
Dear Anonymous, I would like to respond to you about your comments, but I don't know who you are. My name is Allen and my phone number is 512 358 4776. Please give me a call and let me know more details. I appreciate your comments and will work on most. The service you received isn't what we expect from our servers. I work every day if you want to call. ps I just checked our tables and each has salt and pepper on them so not sure why yours didn't. Did you ask for salt and pepper?
This will be a brief and honest review. Overall, we had a lovely experience at Plate in the Bee Caves, but left Feeling a little confused. Brent was a lovely guy. Atmosphere interesting but slightly confusing. Food was good. I just wish the place would relax a little. Or lean a little more into their farmers, or the flare, or their culture. Loosen up a little and play around a bit.
Dear Ms/Mr.. Packystache! I do source locally, everything we make is from scratch, my culture is diverse, and in fact I do integrate it throughout the menu. We are very relaxed for what most consider "fine dining," as there is no specific dress code required at Plate. If we added more flare, played around, or loosened up any more in our concept, our level of service would definitely be compromised. Despite your confusion with what we do, thank you for your lovely recommendation!
Great Thanksgiving meal. Traditional but extraordinary quality.
Such a beautiful restaurant . Thanksgiving dinner was outstanding!
Best lasagna I have ever eaten. It was clean, richly flavored and not a heavily red-sauced style. The Scallops in risotto were exceptional.
I was looking forward to going to Plate. The food was excellent, but the service was terrible. The pace was off and lacking and was capped by a 25 minute wait for dessert after it was ordered. It was bread pudding, not a soufflé.
Absolutely loved this place. Food was fabulous!!!!
Lovely evening with visiting daughter. Food was excellent. Tuna poke and escargot appetizers were shared and were excellent. Main courses of soup, short ribs and halibut were all delicious. The halibut is Dzintra’s signature dish and there was absolutely no disappointment this night!
Service was first class as Lynn was delightful and attentive.
Everything was perfect! They remembered my birthday with birthday wishes written on my key lime pie dessert-nice touch!
Every part of this restaurant is great. The food was unbelievable!
Always love the ambiance at Plate. Met Dzintra-lovely young lady!
Great food & service as always...and this time to celebrate our Anniversary! Always a delight!
Great meal! Loved the seafood dishes. Desserts were awesome!
Wonderful food, terrific service, and great wine list.
We took our friends from Atlanta. Everything was lovely just as we had hoped. One diner was gluten free and was thrilled at the GF options, including dessert. This is our favorite restaurant.
Excellent food & service!
We sat at the bar and shared appetizers and drank a few glasses of wine.
Nice atmosphere and service was good but a bit slow. Risotto with scallops was yummy and escargot was good but lacking juice for bread sopping which is the best part! Overall enjoyable dinner!
This was my only bad experience with Plate and it was really a service issue, the food was outstanding. We ordered salads and our entree's , after 45 minutes without any contact we flagged down a different waiter than ours.. Our waiter showed up, apologized, said he couldn't get our orders into the computer , we requested bread, water, a coke and our wine. He left, another waitress brought us bread, he eventually showed up with coke and wine. Then our salads arrived and before we could finish them our entrees arrived.
