On Monday, July 21, we’re handing the wine list at Pizzeria Delfina California Street over to Jenny and Scott Schultz of Jolie-Laide for a one-night-only takeover. Come sip your way through a curated lineup of their small-batch wines—served by the glass, half-glass, flight, and bottle—alongside (menu items?). Jenny and Scott will be on hand to pour, chat, and keep things loose This tiny, fiercely independent art house winery out of Sonoma makes just 500 cases a year—some of the most quietly radical wines in California. With deep roots in winemaking both in California and abroad, Jenny and Scott are now at the forefront of the “New California” movement—championing old-world technique, underdog grapes (like Trousseau, Bianchetta, Melon de Bourgogne), and thoughtful farming from cool-climate, character-rich sites. Their winemaking is stripped back but sharply focused: early picks, whole cluster, native yeasts, neutral oak, minimal sulfur. The result? Wines with energy, clarity, and texture—each vintage distinct, each label a new piece of art. Jolie-Laide translates to “pretty-ugly,” a nod to the unconventional beauty they bottle so well.
