Pizzeria Delfina Palo Alto
In 2005, Annie and Craig Stoll annexed the space next door to their James Beard Award winning Delfina restaurant fulfilling a long time dream of bringing Neapolitan-inspired pizzas to San Francisco. The 600 square foot space was an instant neighborhood hotspot, and Pizzeria Delfina became the ""darling of the San Francisco food scene"" opening a second location in 2008 to popular demand.
In 2014, Annie and Craig expanded into the Peninsula with Pizzeria Delfina in Palo Alto.
This energetic, farmers-to-table restaurant serves up Neapolitan-inspired pizza complemented by a daily-changing roster of seasonal antipasti, piatti (small entrees), beer, wine and more. A family-owned business, Pizzeria Delfina is a neighborhood establishment through and through that continues to bring people together around fresh, handmade, delicious food in a warm, casual atmosphere.

Gets a 7/10 next to our favorite places in NY but it was good
Had a really nice Valentine's Day dinner here. The food was great, our waiter was kind and attentive, and the atmosphere was great. The only issue was that we were sat outside (there is a lot of outside seating), but it wasn't something I was anticipating without even being asked for a 8:00 pm reservation in February. The couple that was seated next to us outside about twenty minutes later seemed surprised, as well. We were fine and the warm food helped, but my boyfriend was further from one of the outdoor space heaters and he was quite cold.
Food is delicious; the meatballs cannot be beat and we tried the sand dabs for the first time and they are out of this world! Burrata was fresh but texture was off; we think it was because it was too cold and needed to be room temp. Server was efficient but not very friendly. Nonetheless, we love Delfina's food and are regulars so we'll be back again and again!
Great food and service. We had an excellent evening. We were there until closing time (10.45pm) when they kindly asked us to leave!
Excellent pizza (says me and my Italian wife). Too loud indoors and it was chilly that evening.
We shared the Prosciuto w Arugula Salad (delish) and the tri-color salad (abundant and good).
Service was OK, but it was too loud for me. Others didn't mind.
Fun place, really good Pizza (though don't expect real Neapolitan, fork&knife pies - that's Terun, Doppio Zero and Settebello), and fun cocktails. Amazing Amaro list.
I've been a loyal Delfina customer for years but I've noticed the food and service have been slipping lately.
Our dining experience in Palo Alto was completely superb! Recommend my favorite Little Gem Salad with green goddess dressing, avocado & pistachios is now addictive, appetizer of Fresh Stretched Mozzarella with arugula, crostini & EVO, Romanesque roasted Broccoli raab with Lemon yogurt, a Custom red pizza with Prosciutto di Parma & Buratta and the finale Butterscotch Budino is divine. Enjoyed the charming patio, a cocktail and kudos to their welcoming host, Ethan!
What you expect, too noisy!
I went to Delfina with my husband and a friend. We have ordered from Delfina multiple times but it was our first time at the restaurant. We sat in the patio and while we were having our dinner we saw 4 rats. We told our server and she said they are aware of the issue. After seeing what we did we were disgusted. Pizza was ok!
Love this place and the food.
Great experience. Only minor issues: the waitress was sweet and eager to please, but didn't listen very well. Regardless, still a nice experience. The pizza was good, but not great. The crust was not typical for Pizzeria Delfina and napolitano-style, the crust was very crisp and the basil was baked in the oven with the pizza. Jersey-style Chopped salad was incredibly delicious. And the Pot de Crema was worth every calorie.
We had a hair in our food but our survey did not seem like it was an issue for her.
Date night. Great food, okay service. None of the waiters or waitresses seemed to want to give us the time of day. I’m sure they were in a rush but I would appreciate it if they wouldn’t start walking away before I finish talking.
This is probably the worst dining experience ever had. Stunned by the different quality of service and food between this location and SF! Will never come back, ever
Good. Loved the dessert presentation. Would like more toppings on pizza
Very good pizza, similar to how it's made in Italy. Bright, fresh tricolor salad.Nice place for a pie, although the music was quite loud when we were there.
The table outside was sticky. The service was poor. The food was OK at best, and it was WAY overpriced. Certainly won’t be back.
We had a terrible waiter. Knocked over the water bottle and didn’t say anything. Never asked how things were of if we needed anything. Dropped the check off with no word!
Normally love this place but had an absent server today who was never available. Asked for a simple add on of mozzarella on our salad and the chef/owner said NO, that it ruins the integrity of the food. Let the customer decide that since they are the ones paying the tab, right?
Saturday evening 9 pm reservation they did not allow us to order any drinks past 10 pm because that’s when they “close.” They should not be listing 9 pm reservations if that’s the case.
Foods is ok but has a lot of room to improve its service.
We love the pizza and pasta there the sauce was amazing as usual and the service was great. Everything was just about perfect.
Lovely patio seating, fantastic food and wine, ok service
Always great service and great food.
casual lunch with a friend and had delicious food
Had a reservation but took 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge that we had walked in. Super under-staffed for lunch -- one waiter for the whole restaurant it seemed. Took 10 minutes to get water, another 10 to order. Food as always, is good -- but was hard to enjoy because it became super hot inside during our lunch (they leave the doors open to the patio even when the AC is on, and it was 90+ degrees outside. I used to be a big fan but whoever is the manager for the lunch shift needs to shape up otherwise they will lose our business. This is the second bad experience I've had here in 4 weeks for lunch.
Went for graduation dinner with family. Ate at 5pm. Patio was pretty, cool and perfect. Pizzas were a huge hit with out of town guests. Everyone loved it.
Always enjoy our lunches/dinners at Delfina Palo Alto. Patio can't be beat.
lovely outdoors, good food, service is minimal but polite.
classic. my favorite. always the best. 👌🏼
Made a reservation through OpenTable, and then didn't honor it when I showed up because they had decided to close the restaurant for a private party. Did not call me and let me know so I could make other plans for my business meeting. Surly staff refused to admit their mistake and instead told me *I* was wrong even though I had the confirmation email and text message from OpenTable.
I just returned from Sicily and never expect to find a pizza that compares...but now I know where to go!!! Crust was amazing as were the topping!!
We had wonderful and attentive service and great food — the special pizza with artichokes and arugula was so delicious. Fabulous meatballs. Loved the peas
Amazing Amazing Amazing Amazing Amazing Amazing
Excellent pizza. I liked their selection more than I liked their outlet in SFO. The place was quiet on Wed lunch. I had Napoletana pizza without the anchovies and my friend had the pie with arugula & prosciutto. The slices we're gone pretty quickly. The appetizers & salad looked good, though we didn't try any.
Food and service were great, will definitely be back!
Ate lunch here 2 days in a row and was not disappointed. Clam pie with extra clams and anchovies stood out. Regazza and Tri Colore salads were well done.
Very good food, including great pizza. Service was awful. One person in our party got his pizza 30 minutes after the rest of us. No recognition of bad situation by our server.
Not up to rest of the Delfina restaurants standards. Service was polite but follow thru was bad.
