Pier 48 Fish House & Oyster Bar - Downtown INDY
Food was very good. Server was inexperienced but pleasant. Definitely plan to come back.
Sevice was ok. Had a few errors with the salad & food.
Food came out cold, ribeye was really some sort of sirloin, crab beignets were super cold and basically deep fried cream cheese, service wasn’t very attentive, manager wasn’t wearing a mask or even attempting to, host wasn’t friendly, food runners had no idea what table food was supposed to go to, price wasn’t worth the meal whatsoever. Super disappointed.
Great food, great service, and ambiance was superb!
First time customer. Appetizer tasted great just a little on the cold side. I ordered the pineapple margarita but it tasted nothing like pineapple and it was watered down. I also ordered the fish and chips fish was great but the fries were cold. I’m starting to realize that maybe the waiter left the food out to long before serving it to us? I don’t know. I hope that the next time we go we’ll have a better experience.
Great service!! Unique menu and food taste amazing
Saturday evening. 7p. Ok, I'm going to be as objective as I can. But, it was really a poor experience top to bottom. I thought that Pier 48 was going to be upscale and trendy but the customers onsite were the "hat backwards, tank top crowd." Lump that in with poor service and just plain, mediocre food and it spells disaster. We dressed for what we thought the atmosphere was... cool South Beach attire as I'd like to call it. We were waaaaaay over dressed. Lump in the fact that the area looked like a war zone of destruction and construction. Plus, lots and lots and lots of teenagers (basketball tourney) riding the scooters at 30 mph right by our food. Nightmare.
No cocktail drink menu. With two "no, we can't make that drink' scenarios. The food... Lobster beignets was deep fried cheese with ZERO lobster. The 'boom boom shrimp' was anything but. What it was was generic deep fried shrimp with a little drizzle of sauce on a cole slaw. Dry! Over cooked! For dinner was the lobster risotto...decent. The filet steak had zero seasoning...very bland. You could taste the grill, but we honestly debated to ask for salt. It was priced to be 5 start but 1 1/2 stars at best.
Sorry for the poor rating. Times are tough, I get that and poor reviews sting. But, you lack an identity. What do you want to be? A restaurant for anyone or a classy and trendy place for people to go?
The service was slow but it was Devour Indy. The steak was not as I ordered but they corrected. I would give them another chance.
Seating was very disorganized. even though we had a reservation several other people were seated before us. Not great food. Small selection of oysters and lobster tail tarts freezer burnt
Food & service were good, but all the tables were covid distanced, and there was no attempt to covid distance the waiting line, at all.
Food was very good, but came out to fast entree arrived 2 min after appetizer. Server wore mask just over mouth, and came to table once without it at all. We did enjoy the meal.
The food and service were great! Will definitely return!
Locally owned restaurant. The food was great and had a nice presentation. The ambiance inside was very upscale and relaxing and our server made us feel very welcome. Definitely a go-back-to place.
Food was exceptional as was the service. All the seafood was very fresh. Outstanding value and well prepared
We were here for our anniversary. This spot is our go to place. They had an awesome price on oysters. I am so glad that we spent our 6th anniversary here.
Great first experience and food was amazing and service excellent. Will be back!!
Thank you for the awesome review. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed dining with us. We can't wait to see you again!!
It was an amazing experience. I will certainly return again.
We were very excited to try this newer restaurant. We tried on Friday and were turned away because they were all booked. This made us even more excited because we thought their busy night meant it'd be good! I have to say the food was pretty darn good. But, the overall experience was made 'fair' at best by the less-than-stellar service. We waited over ten minutes to be greeted - likely a miscommunication so we let that slide. We also waited for our drinks, waited a while to order appetizers, and waited at least 10 minutes after we'd finished appetizers to even order our dinner. Our server never really checked on us or asked how our food was or if we needed anything else. Generally speaking, the service staff seemed completely unorganized and to have trouble communicating with one another. For the price we paid, the service just wasn't there and gave us a poor taste of the place. I hope they get their sh*t together because the food, again, was very good. (Oysters, shrimp cocktail, hot lobsta roll, blackened monkfish)
We sat outside and service was good, noise was quiet and easy to have friendly conversation with friends.
We went for their Devour menu, and got mini lobster rolls, swordfish and fried cod entrees, and the key lime tiramisu. We also ordered some clam chowder and carrots on the side. The mini lobster rolls were our favorite part of the meal! Other than that though, our main entrees were so-so. The swordfish itself was very dry/tasted burnt, very different from experiences elsewhere. Although it looks formal, it felt like a sports bar.
We took a scooter tour of some of our favorite dining places On a Saturday afternoon. We love the char grilled oysters so ordered that and a round of drinks. They are always cooked well and very flavorful. The hostess was very attentive and even wished us a safe journey as we headed to the next stop.
Fantastic food! So fresh and amazing! Would recommend to anybody wanting fresh seafood!
Food and serving size was amazing - we will be back for sure!!
Lisa, we are so glad you had a great experience. Please come see us again, we would love to have you!!
I dined at Pier 48 for the first time on 8/25. The service was excellent. I took my server's recommendation and ordered the Roasted Oysters for an appetizer and they did not disappoint. The Chower was packed with calms and very flavorful. I ordered the Outlaw (bone-in pork chop) medium for my entrée. It was cooked perfectly as were the mash potatoes. I will definitely be back and most likely on a regular basis.

Loved Jason & Joy and staff was very accommodating to set a table up outside for us. Boom Boom shrimp was delicious!
We are happy to hear that our staff at The Pier met your dining expectations; they always strive to provide the guests with the greatest experience, and we are glad you enjoyed the outside dining. The Boom Boom Shrimp is certainly a customers’ favorite. We cannot wait for you to try other items in our menu.
Kylee and Mike are the best! Great staff and great food.
We are glad Kylee, Mike, and the staff made your visit to Pier 48 memorable. We are happy to hear you loved the food as well. We certainly hope you get to visit us again to try the new items our awesome chef introduces to the menu and as our specials.
Excellent spot for outdoor dining! We had a party of 8 and were concerned about dining out. Pier 48 has a large outdoor area (open area just outside of bar area) and as it's on the east side of the building, in the complete shade by dinner time. Food was incredible (first time I can recall no one getting a doggy bag) and service was very attentive and our server made great recommendations too. The appetizers were so good, we had two rounds of the shrimp, wings and crab bignet.
Thank you for taking the time to write such an awesome review. We strive to make our guests’ visits enjoyable and memorable and we are happy to hear we hit the mark for you. Come back, see us soon and enjoy Downtown Indy and our great outdoor area!
Best service and food at downtown Indy! Safe, open and great music on the weekend. Please take your family and friends to support this locally owned upscale restaurant!
Wedge Salad and Bread pudding were delicious.

2nd year marriage anniversary
We had the best server named Latisha!
This was our first time at Pier 48. The menu is great and our meal was delicious. Eli, our services, was helpful and efficient. We will definitely return.
Evan was amazing! We had such a great experience with him.
Pier 48 is my new favorite restaurant!!! If you like lobster try the lobster nachos and the lobster grilled cheese!!! They are awesome!
This was the best lobster roll ever! Very quick and friendly service. Our waiter was great.
Food was wonderful service was amazing!!
Disappointed with overall atmosphere. Expected a little "higher end" type place and it really is just another sports bar. On the plus side, the food was outstanding! I had lobster risotto and my wife had the lobster roll. She could not stop talking about how good it was. However, the service was lacking. Our server was also one of the bartenders and that is never good. We were seated at a table near the bar but, because she was so busy or orders were slow to arrive. Really couldn't blame her, but I do put the blame on management for allowing this situation to happen. Also, our bill arrived with two obvious overcharges for items we did not have. Of course, that problem was immediately corrected as expected.
The restaurant honored the pandemic requirements while providing a quality meal and service. We would certainly go again.
Our waitress wasn’t knowledgeable and the menu was misleading. The kids grilled cheese is too spicy for children, the fish and chips is one fish fillet; it should say 1 breaded fish piece.
