Had a lovely afternoon tea catching up with friends. The staff were friendly and helpful and not at all pushy as we ended up being there until 7pm. Very bright and airey. Thoroughly enjoyable

Although half the restaurant was being used for some kind of private function this did not impinge on our dining experience. The food was great. The chocolate marquise is exquisite!

When we arrived we were the only people in the restaurant but that suited us; a good catch up was in order and the last thing we wanted was to be shouting over loud music or other conversations! The food was good and the waiter was attentive. With the tastecard this was great value.

When we first arrived there was a slight worry looking at this very empty restaurant with only our name on reservation list on a Friday night. But we soon at ease after being looked after by Stephen. It's the start of the Valentine menu week, so instead of 50% off a la carte we went for the 3 course set. Food was very nice. We had beef carpaccio as starter, beef filet and Dover sole as main, chocolate avalanche as dessert. We were impressed. We also learnt something new - deep fried capers. It flowers up after deep frying and it tasted amazing with the beef starter as well as the fish main. Food presentation were good, services was fine when we were the only table but slightly lacking when it there are more than 3 tables.....So do understand some negatives feedback from birthday parties. But I would defo recommended it shall you happen to be around the neighbourhood.

The food was highly disappointing for the price, but Ben made the whole evening worth while, what a polite attentive gentleman, if it was not for Ben I would of most defiantly complained about the food, but strangely enough the service made up for it! Thank you Ben

We went for a diner with my daughter. Everything was perfect - tasty food, excellent service, cosy atmosphere!

I didn't realise when I booked that the restaurant was in a hotel. It seemed too fancy for us when we went it but it was actually lovely. The staff were very nice and made us feel really welcome. We all decided to go for the sandwich/wraps and they were lovely. We also had a few drinks and it was lovely.

Our food was delicious and well presented. The menu was quite limiting and chef seems fascinated with puréed vegetables which we asked not to have. Drinks menu was not very creative with only kopperberg as the cider choice. Staff were attentive, friendly and polite. Bar staff should learn what a pint of Guinness actually looks like as they included the frothy head as part of the pint.

We booked this restaurant because it was conveniently located for us and was offering 50% off the a la carte menu. The food was very good and service excellent - however we were the only people in the large restaurant! As a result it lacked any atmosphere. At full prices I would not be tempted to return. I think it needs to be less of a hotel restaurant, ie maybe a door directly onto the street, and perhaps less formal and less expensive.

From our arrival right until we left the service was poor. First off it took 10 minutes to find our table despite it being barely full and were then sat at a table that wasn't completely set. Once seated Waiting staff took a long time to take our orders despite it being a set Christmas day menu. There were more than enough staff for the day yet it took forever to get anything, we received bread but no butter and constantly had to make our requests multiple times before anything appeared and also many of the staff spoke limited English. Despite all of this we all enjoyed our meal. However the final blow was that when it came to paying we waited 25mins for the bill, which was incorrect as they forgot to deduct the deposit we paid in advance (which is ridiculous considering all Christmas diners would have had to pay this) and then also we were charged for a more expensive champagne as the waiter who spoke little English, put through the wrong order and instead of coming back to clarify our request (after we asked 3 times and also pointed to the menu), as a result the duty manager was VERY rude and difficult about it all, and "pretended" to call for a more senior person, which resulted in us waiting a further 20 mins until we complained again and he rectified the bill himself as we were on the verge of walking out. With it being Christmas, you would expect more joviality and atmosphere But the slow service (despite having an early dinner sitting where it was quiet) and having to constantly go find a staff member ruined the meal.
