    Amazing food. Best pasta in Edinburgh. Excellent service. The slow cooked venison pasta was absolutely wonderful. All freshly cooked with great flavours. Will be back.

    Have wanted to go here for some time, so hence booking in advance, so we were a bit dis-chuffed to be told on arrival that "we need the table back by 8pm", that's 1.5hrs. Normally you would expect 2hrs. Anyway, with that in mind we attempted to get menus after a delay, so, no time for a starter, straight to mains which took 30 mins. The food was very good, so no problems there, but we didn't expect to be rushed so ditched dessert. Don't expect a relaxed meal as it was also very noisy and crammed.

    We had a lovely meal here to celebrate our engagement. The staff were all super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious and authentic - the Tiramisu was the best I've ever had, and my fiancé's pasta was outstanding. Many thanks for a lovely evening.

    This week I sampled the delicious vegetarian penne pasta dish while my husband had the breaded chicken, chips and salad. All were presented attractively and freshly cooked. The dishes and accompanying wine were delicious as was the affogato that I had for sweet.

    Italian restaurant ?!?! Where's the pizza ? Well I ordered spaghetti vongole; 2/3 of the vongole were empty ?!?? The vongole "meat" wasn't even in the spaghetti. The spaghetti carbonara was far too salty. And let me put parmesan cheese by myself on it. Adding 10% gratuity straight on the bill ? WTF, let me pay a tip if the service desserves it. And that techno music playing. Put italian music for the atmosphere. Finally din't you have a cellar to stock bottles of water instead of right beside customers ? Oh, and knives and forks in a cup ? Not professionnal and nor very hygienic. Will not go back.

    Hi AlainS, we looked into this matter and I’m really sorry our food didn’t meet your expectations, you could have advised our staff during their checks and they would have asked our chefs to make new dishes for you, our main priority is ensuring that everyone is enjoying our dishes and having the best experience. I’m sorry that our menu doesn’t include pizza but that is not our priority, our goal is bringing the traditional cuisine and the flavours of the Apulia region. About the knives and forks you saw in a cup, I need to clarify that those is our old silverware, that was on a shelf and none of our staff member touched it or brought it to you, or to any of our guests.     Enjoyed our meal at Piccolino yesterday. Would have liked a less expensive set menu available to keep costs down and have smaller portions. As a vegetarian, there isn’t a wide selection, although what I had was good-gnocchi. As it was very quiet, there wasn’t much ambience, however I think a fixed price menu, especially on a Saturday, would have made it busier.

    The staff contacted me ahead of time as we had a couple tables booked and kept in touch as I had to rejig numbers. The staff were friendly and smiley, food was nice but one of my colleagues had asked for a side dish when her food was served as it was a small dish and they never arrived. We weren't charged so didn't raise it and it was busy so didn't bother anyone. If I came back to Edinburgh I would come again as it seemed a friendly place.

    The place is exactly what you’d imagine a little Italian restaurant, very rustic. My friends and I starters were absolutely amazing and our drinks as well! We got Lasagne for main course and honestly we wished we had just got a second appetizer instead of the lasagne. Prawns and the mini parmigiana were out of this world food! Would recommend but a little pricey.

    Authentic Italian food at its finest! Piccolino certainly know how to deliver on flavour. Their pasta dishes are authentic using high quality ingredients. Portion sizes are generous; much larger than other Italian restaurants I’ve eaten at. Must try the polpette, venison ragu and the tiramisu. Terrific service. Highly recommend.

    Very authenic Italian restaurant with a varied menu. Lasagna was freshly made and delicious. Pasta with seafood was also served piping hot with a variety of clams, prawns, shrimp and calamari over linguine. Would take my best friends here. Good wine list. Excellent service from Alexandra.

    Excellent food, great value, great location and staff very good at a genuinely family run Italian restaurant. A real find and highly recommend. I love sea food and the quality, and the quantity (which you see less of these days) was the best I’ve ever had

    Had a lovely lunch outside with my family, delicious seafood linguine and great service, they had a massive group in at the same time as us and still saw to us and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely go again and recommend to others
