Great pizzas !!
Great band!! Sweet Talk
We loved Piacere! I highly recommend this restaurant!!
There was 3 of us in our group and we sat in the restaurant behind the bar. The restaurant side wasn’t busy, but the bar area was because the band was there. Service was extremely slow. Every time we wanted to order something, we had to make sure we would order multiple items since we didn’t know when the waitress would come back to us, even though there were like 4 tables full. As much as we love music, the band could have dialed back the tune a little bit. We had to scream at each other in order to hear ourselves.
Didn’t know there was live music. Too loud for business meeting that my reservation specified
The food is amazing at Piacere! We try something different each time we visit. The service was attentive and pleasant. If you can get the room with a fireplace, the ambiance is cozy and warm. It can get a little warm in there. Finally, we ordered the mussels, and they were the highlight of the night! I have never seen mussels prepared in that fashion. The aroma filled the restaurant, and as soon as they landed on our table they were gone. Delicious!
Don’t often venture out for New Years Eve. The decorations were nice and we were seated immediately. My main issue was that once wee were seated I was immediately asked for our drink order. My date went to the rest room and I ordered two Manhattans. It was a pre-fixed menu and the first course arrive prior to my date returning or the cocktails. The entire meal was rushed although we were assured that the table was ours for the evening, with the band starting in an hour. The manhattans were well made and we sipped them through the Main course.
The food was great considering the pre-fixed menu. Will try again on a non NY Eve evening.
Disappointed by food. Small selection, low food quality and expensive.
This is a great place to go anytime. But their special events are very special. Great menu items prepared perfectly. Have been going there for several years and have never had a bad item. For weekends and special events (New Years, Easter, Valentine's day, etc.) you need to make reservations. You can eat in the small bar too. It is usually a great bar crowd.
Limited menu on Christmas Eve, my husband had the worst, Terrible pasta! It was Soo overcooked, I would return it but my husband wanted to be nice on the Eve, so he kept it! I had the shrimp risotto which was favorless, the rice was so overcooked, it's like Chinese porridge! The booth was extremely uncomfortable also, made for skinny people only.
That wasn't the worst part! I bought coupon from Yelp which was $15 for $30 dollar value, the waitress told me the manager refuse it because of Christmas Eve. I told her there's no restrictions on any weekends or holiday on the coupon, therefore they must accept it! All this make this restaurant very undesirable! NO, I WON'T BE BACK! Going back to Donato in Redwood City, it's the best true Italian restaurant that's close by!
My all time favorite restaurant. They never disappoint. Perfect place for special occasions.
Great food and good service. We’ve dined here several times and it has always been pleasant
My eggs weren’t burnt and had to ask for it again. My friend and I both got the croque madame and they looked vastly different with the amount of ham and sauce. Had to keep asking to be refilled for our “bottomless mimosas”. Waitress was very nice though.
We sat in the wine cellar , The restaurant is extremely loud, but the wine cellar was fabulous
The servers were not "on top of their game" Long spans of time between seating, offering beverages, taking orders and the order was incorrectly delivered to the table. Secondly, had to ask for replacement utensils during different courses. Third, waiters should never reach over another attendees to pour waters or provide ground pepper to a salad. Time for the owner to discuss some training before the next clients.
The service was very bad, soup arrived with main dish, drinks needed reminder. Maybe a busy day, still bad experience.
Business struggled to serve a larger group, orders were wrong, charged for items we did not order, slow service.
Great host. Great server.
Unfortunately this once shining jewel of San Carlos ‘s Laurel street has become dulled.
I took my friend to Piacere for her birthday dinner. She ordered the bronzini and was told there were a lot of bones in it and she may want to look at something else. She ordered the salmon and it was nothing special. I ordered their honey chicken and it was bland and was hard to cut.
For desert she ordered the lava cake and when it arrived the whole top of it was noticeably burnt. She said it smelled burnt as well and she had them take it back.
Besides the food being sub par, they had paper menus. Maybe they are trying to be casual, but paper doesn’t say casual, it says cheap. If the food was top notch then paper menus might be ok.
I got my item put into a to go container to give it to the dog at my friends house and discovered a key in with the chicken.
I have only two keys and it was not one of mine.
All in all I won’t be going back and I won’t recommend it to friends, family or people I dislike.
Very cozy neighborhood spot with excellent service, good food and extensive wine list.
Food was OK, but menu choices very limited. Service is poor. Wine list is a bit mixed up and poor.
Service was for 6, the waitress was new but did the best she could. Wine selection was limited but acceptable. Cocktails were much too strong. Caesar salad was good, linguini in clam sauce good. The warm bread was delicious.
Dessert was good , too.
Standard fare, standard service, accept;e all the way around.
We arrived early in the evening so found everything to our liking. Quiet, good service, good food, and overall good ambiance. We left as the entertainment was setting up. We like the quieter settings but would presume the later crowds would like the restaurant as well. We've been there before and will return. Actually , had such a positive experience again we are now planning a banquet for 50 people.
Service slow but admittedly i5 was a very busy night on Laurel Street. Waiter forgot things like bread, sugar for iced tea. 4 year old grandchild served her Mac and cheese last .... that is never a good thing.
This place is an excellent choice for lunch and dinner. Food selections are always impressive, well-prepared and reasonably priced. Never disappointed and looking forward to coming back.
Service was good but food quality was mediocre and portions were too small for The prices
I have been to Piacere many times over the years, birthdays, anniversaries, lunches with friends, etc, I have never had a bad meal there, but i just dont think i want to go anymore. I was there with my husband for my birthday, the dining room was virtually empty, on a saturday at 7pm, but we still had to ask for bread. So heres my beef, so to speak. I didnt see anything in their usually plentiful pasta offerings i wanted, there were just a few to choose from, so i asked the server if the kitchen could make me a Carbonara. She said, No, "they dont have the sauce for that". Okay, the "sauce" for Carbonara is grated cheese, butter, cream, egg and bacon. Oh, and pasta. This italian kitchen didnt have those ingredients? ? Could she have least asked them? its like the simplest pasta recipe there is! I would have happily paid full boat for it, ive had it there before and it was fantastic! . we had this same dance when i asked for a plain green salad, and she told me they couldnt do that, only a Caesar. I gave up and had a hamburger, which was excellent, just not what i wanted. I GO there for the pasta.
Yes. i did ask for things off the menu, but a place like this shouldnt have had a problem ,it wasnt busy at all, and i wasnt asking them to whip up a Beef Wellington.
So , husband liked his prawn dish but didnt love it, ordered a cup of coffee and it was luke warm. So thats it for us, theres too many other great Italian restaurants in the area to choose from, that not only have great food, they have great service too.
Ciao, Piacere , it's been nice
I would have given this review of your restaurant 5 stars BUT when I paid my bill the gift card that I used credited my bill 10% instead of the $100.00 that the card was valued at. I had won it at a bridge function at St. Francis Auxiliary. My daughter talked to the cashier and showed her the envelop that the card had come in. On the envelop was written $100. Did your check out computer not read the card correctly? The cashier re-calculated the charge and did, indeed, deduct $100.00 from my bill.
I had shrimp risotto, which was delicious. I will recommend your restaurant to my friends. I live in San Jose, the ride to San Carlos was worth it.
Food was not good , there is s reason the place was empty. Will never go back
Awesome food!! Friendly staff all the way around
We had pizza as appetizer and it was very good. The crust is crispy, not too thick and not too thin. We ordered the Italian sausage one and was disappointed that the sausages looked more like the hot dog kind rather than the sausage crumbles type. They are very salty but the cheese was very good. My peach salad with added shrimps was excellent. My husband had linguini with clams and they are fresh Manila clams . Very good. We brought our dog and we were able to sit outside on the sidewalk.
We've not been there in a couple years, however, service, ambiance and food 8+ on a scale of ten.
The salmon and gnocchi are delicious. The service is good and I like the ambiance. I've only been twice and I ordered the same thing. Our three year old goes with us and they have kid friendly options. I will attend again.
My mother felt like a queen on her 70th birthday! They were so thoughtful with their preparations. Food was amazing, ambiance perfect, and the service was impeccable! Bravo!
A bit over priced and open table reservation allowed us to book a 9:30 slot yet they were not open until until 10:00. Service was great and food was good!!!
The proprietor, "Mummy", is wonderful. He actually served us.
Piacere has changed it's menu from some years back. The result is more accessible, more affordable food with more variety in the menu. They've gotten nailed with inconsistent service in the past, but every time I've been there, the service has been fine. All in all, I go to Piacere freely and really have never been disappointed.
Live music drew us there - we enjoyed the food as much as the music.
They have a new chef that is doing wonderful things with their menu. The wine list needs some improvement, but the entertainment was spectacular - “Sweet Talk” .
Menu is odd, food was fair/ disappointed
I've been before but this trip was disappointing.
friend's roasted veggies came out cold. asparagus was actually "off." My salmon was fine, not great.
