My family and I have been dining at Petterino’s for a number of years. Food was excellent, wait staff terrific. This was our place to eat before the Goodman and it was perfect.
Last night was the first time I have been there since before COVID and since it was sold.
Terrible experience. People packed in like sardines. Wait staff completely overworked.
The food left much to be desired. My soup was lukewarm, salad mediocre at best. My friend said her pot pie was tasteless, not hot and she thought it had been rewarmed a few times. The bread was tasteless.
The worst insult was where the maitre’d seated us. I have not been this insulted in many years and I have dined in many places. This reservation was made several weeks ago. We were seated right in front of the revolving door, next to where people check in. Barely enough room to sit, let alone the constant stream of people walking by and the cold air blowing in every time someone came thru the door. God knows why they felt a need to put a piano-baby grand in the entry way. If my brother-in-law had been with us, it would have been a different scenario. No one would of dared to put him by a crowded cold doorway. And he would of had plenty to say about the terrible food, overworked wait staff and he would have sought out the manager.
Both my friend and I are older women who love a good meal and a night at the theater. This is one of the worst meals I have had in a long time.
And I do appreciate how difficult things are because of the pandemic but is not an excuse to have a restaurant packed in like sardines -I felt I was in a Petri dish, terrible food and overworked staff.
Other restaurants I have been to this past year have learned how to survive and keep people safe and still provide great food with limited staff.
The Petterino’s I and my family knew has ceased to exist. I will no longer eat there and I will tell all my friends and family about my experience.
Who ever owns this place should be ashamed.
A nice lunch experience but all 3 in our party found the food “fine”, nothing special and nothing we would particularly recommend to friends.
We had Hank as a server. He was pleasant, informative and available/knowledgeable regarding menu questions. The food was EXCEPTIONAL and Hank was an added bonus!
All in all a very average experience and there are plenty of restaurants in the area that are above average. Prices are not in line with the quality of the food, definitely overpriced. The service was below average as we felt ignored. Took almost 20 minutes to receive a cup of coffee.
The food, holiday decor, wine and exceptional service courtesy of Jose and the rest of the staff was really wonderful...we'll definitely return and recommend you highly!
Haven’t been here in two years due to COVID. We come here every time around Christmas for quite some time when we see a show and have always loved the food, the service and the venue overall. The server told us that they are no longer part of “Lettuce Entertain You.” The menu has changed a bit. I have never ordered “Chicken Pot Pie” at an Italian restaurant but due to me a sucker for a good Chicken Pot Pie, and it being new on the menu, I thought I would try it. Do not order the Chicken Pot Pie. Was not all that good at all. Waste of $20.00. As a matter of fact, I only ate about a third of it and didn’t bother to take the rest home. I will have to say honesty, we liked it better before.
Service was hit & miss. Server forgot my wine, never got clean knives after there were taken after our appetizer. Had to ask for everything we needed. Husband’s entree came out cold. Wondering if they took it back & microwaved since it came back so quickly. Other wise, the entrees were good, but service really lacking. Dessert menu a disappointment & didn’t order any. Not really motivated to return.
From the Valet(s) to the front-of-house Host(s) and waitstaff, everything and everyone was perfect. My husband and I have enjoyed dining at Petterino’s for years, and it was a pleasure introducing it to 3 friends who are sure to become regulars.
It was great as a lettuce entertain you restaurant. Food quality gone down.
I thought all the food was good. One of my dinner companions complained of too much butter on her fish, and thinks she got sick from it. I had some of her fish and liked it. I also liked the meatballs that her daughter didn’t want on her spaghetti. Service was excellent. It’s gotten a little bit pricey, but I guess that’s everywhere in this new inflationary era. It’d be nice if they somehow were able to bring back that great red snapper soup au sherry the old Lettuce Entertain You Petterino’s used to have before they discontinued it year ago. It was delicious and a classic.
The Cesar Salad with shrimp was simply delicious! I will order it again when I return.
However, I still would prefer a better tasting Italian bread. Your chef should be able
to prepare a more tastier Italian bread. The Chicken Parmesan was also excellent. That is another entre I would recommend.
Not the same Petterinos. Food was luke warm, smaller portions, different menu. Wait staff was efficient and pleasant. But in my opinion not worth what paid for.
I wish I remembered the waitresses name because she was incredible. From the host to food, the place was great. The environment makes it great.
Lunch and a show
The food was excellent! Service was amazing! They even have gluten free pasta! Very close to the Nederland Theatre so a perfect location. We had a blast.
Friendly staff. Great meal.
New chef, new menu. Bland bread option. Missing the signature dessert. Welcoming the restaurant back in business. Remaining hopeful that new traditions strengthen going forward.
We enjoyed our visit to Petterino's. Wally was a FABULOUS waiter, very attentive. Our food was very good, although a little over priced. Salads are high priced and extra, and no bread or rolls were served with our meal. The noise level increased quite a bit during our time there, making it difficult to carry on a conversation. I'm glad we came, but I don't think we will be returning.
Excellent service! Food very good. Glad some of the former menu items are still available. Only snag my husband’s Bloody Mary was watery and had no flavor.
They are portions that much smaller. They are no longer let us entertain you restaurant.
Had a wonderful meal before our show at the Cadillac.
Just not the same quality or options of food with the new ownership. Highly disappointed and won’t be back.
We were attending The Christmas Carol at the Goodman Theater and had dinner before the play. We have not eaten at Petterino's in years. This was the perfect restaurant we picked. The service, food and atmosphere was wonderful.
Liked the old Petterinos.. Limited menu and food was just fair. Pricey for what it was. Disappointed!
This has been a favorite for many years- however, they have definately slipped just like many others. I beleive it's due to the many challenges restaurants are facing with Covid. I'll be back but the last visit did not stack up as compared to the multiple other visits I've made over the years.
My family and I have been visiting Petterino's for a number of years. We like to do dinner and the Christmas Carol play at the Goodman theater during the holidays. We have always had a great experience at Petterino's. Great food, great service and very festive. We did not go last year because of Covid and was informed by the waitress that the restaurant was closed for sometime and was under new ownership. She raved about the in-house pasta that they make. We were excited to try it! The menu selection was minimal. We started with some appetizers. The mushroom appetizer was unrecognizable. They were so dark and overcooked, we weren't sure what they were! My daughter couldn't even eat her shrimp and pasta. It was so bland and the sauce was like paste. My chicken picante was cold and bland and my son in law didn't even get his entree when ours came out. The waitress said she forgot to put his order in but when she went to check on it, she had it in her hands. Very overpriced for poor quality food and small portions. I'm sorry to say, we'll be going somewhere else for now on.
Petterinos never disappoints. Food is excellent…staff exceptional. Still my favorite restaurant!
Everything was great, service was a bit slow.
Wally is a great server!!!
Great waiter who handled things well during a very busy time.
My white fish was a bit undercooked-took it right back and chef gave me a brand new delicious new piece of white fish.
We had a great time at Petterino’s. The place was hopping, but everything went very well for us. The service was outstanding! Our server was very attentive without being intrusive, and very personable. The food was very tasty,
It was a great choice for dinner before the theatre.
Been coming for years, love it!!
First time experience but I enjoyed it and it will not be my last
Restaurant was very busy our server was new but did a good job checking in on us. Overall the food was good, but in my opinion overpriced for the portions received. We were surprised to hear that they no longer carry iced tea! My daughter ordered the gnocchi kids meal at $12 and again the portion size was small even for a 9 yo. The restaurant is beautifully decorated for Christmas and the staff was working very hard to keep people happy despite being short staffed and packed.
Meal was undercooked and replacement took a long time. Restaurant comped my meal and high was more than I anticipated. When arrived it was very good.
We were running late for a show. The waiter expedited our order and the food was great. Love it and will go back soon.
They graciously sat us tho I was late due to outrageous holiday traffic in loop tied to parade, tree lighting etc. So gratefully, we got to eat before our theater show - even with all that mess. Thank you Petterinos for rescuing our evening out!
We have been to Petterino’s many times in the past this was by far and away the most disappointing dinner I’ve ever had at a restaurant of this caliber I ordered a $60 bone in ribeye steak and received what appears to be a sliced Château Briand The meat was overdone the mashed potatoes served with it were ice cold and At 6 PM they were already out of the ravioli
The service however and the ambience were wonderful as usual
