For a sweet end to your meal at Petrini's, enjoy a homemade classic Italian dessert, the layered tiramisu cake.
Fettucini pasta adorned with shrimp, smoked salmon and clams sauted in a sauce comprised of garlic, olive oil, red pepper flake, lemon, white wine, tomato, basil and a bit of Parmesan. Full dinners include house salad, minestrone or Italian wedding soup and garlic bread
Tomatoes, basil, Parmesan cheese, Petrini's dressing
The pizza crust is definitely different than other pizza crusts I’ve had. It had the texture of a cracker.
For the gnocchi, it was soaking in oil and butter, and left a greasy taste in the mouth.
The wine selections were fine, especially at half off.
The service people were very kind and helpful, and the ambiance was fine.
Server was great and food was delicious! I would come back here again
The food was very good but pricey for the substance. Simple pasta and sauce plates for $20. The staff were great though
The food was not good, and the waiter kept getting the order wrong because he didn’t look at us when we ordered. The pizza crust was not good, we ordered the chicken Marsala and it wasn’t good at all. Hope this helps, very below average italian food.
We left after 45 minutes of waiting for soup and salad.
Great food and good service! Yummy bruschetta and wine! What a gem!
My friends and I have dined at Petrini's numerous times and the cuisine is consistently delicious. We were glad to sit in the patio area during Corona virus times. The Service was great. The lunch menu is reasonable.
The food is amazing a good portion size and the service was impeccable. I will definitely be back.
Great service, friendly. The food was underwhelming. We did appreciate the gluten free options. The tables outdoors felt a little close together for Covid.
Andre was a terrific server and took good care of us. We always enjoy the food and neighborhood feel of Petrini’s. We’ll definitely be back!
Food quality was awful. Six of us had dinner and we probably ate 30% of it. Most of our party was too embarrassed to say anything about it so we just paid the check ($200+) and went somewhere else. Their menu sounded amazing so I hope they can figure things out.
Great food at a great price! Love the shrimp plates as well as the salads. Italian restaurant with homemade recipes,
Every single bite of food was simply perfect. I had the Caprese Salad; ripe sweet multi varieties of tomatoes with the freshest ever mozzarella and balsamic dressing. The tomatoes were a new delicious texture and flavour, the pasta with mushrooms and olive oil were so tender and amazing. The rib-eye was cooked and lightly seasoned to perfection. The service was excellent, in spite of everyone’s continued vigilance regarding the COVID. I would return here often if I lived in Canada. Five stars were earned on all fronts.
Love this place !!
Excelent dinning experience
The food was delish 😋😋✨💜💜
Very slow service, and very poor food! Italian wedding soup tasted like dish water, pizza seemed like the frozen kind, and chicken was very rubbery.
We can NOT recommend Petrini's food, as we did NOT actually eat it. We arrived for our Reservation for our Anniversary dinner, expecting to have a reserved place on their patio. After being greeted with indifference, we were shown to a tiny table on the sidewalk, where mask-less strangers were passing within inches of us. After a few minutes of this, feeling very unsafe, we fled the scene. (Also, we did not care for the plastic menus - paper should be used now). This would have totally destroyed our 22nd Anniversary, had we not found another place (which was at our hotel, after being refused at 4 other places). We strongly urge others to consider take-out only here.
Staff seemed overwhelmed
Great casual place. Good value for great food and our server Lisa was so friendly.
Outdoor dining due to Covid. Food was below average, service was slow as was food. Overall below average.
Server was newer and we waited at the table for an hour for our bill. Food was good but with COVID they had placed the table right on the curb facing traffic. Was a bit strange.
Andres was awesome
Good was amazing! Service was amazing! Highly recommend for a relaxed neighborhood restaurant.
Very nice, casual dinner. We enjoyed sitting outside, especially with the current COVID guidelines and the difficulty for everyone. We appreciate the restaraunt being open and taking our reservation. The food was yummy. A good place for couples or families, or patrons with dogs.
Pizza tasted like a frozen pizza - not a great option if you’re looking for good Italian food in the little Italy/downtown area. There are far better restaurants at a similar price point only a few blocks away
We really enjoyed our lunch and always feel very special when Lisa takes care of us.
Considering out town still slowly reopening and it is the first time my friends and I got together since Covid19 started this place made it fun for all of us. they were practicing all the necessary safety protocol from the mask to distance to such a clean restaurant. We received a phenomenal service and most of us it is also first time trying it out. Excellent food and reasonably priced. I will highly recommend it and we will be back again. Thank you and be safe
I live in SD and I always enjoy a meal at Petrini's. The Fish Livornese is exceptional. The portions are generous and the food is solid Italian fare at a reasonable price. They have tables set up outside to allow for social distancing and the ambiance reminds me of NYC. I like that Petrini's is just outside the chaos of the heart of Little Italy. It's a great spot for a romantic dinner or a family meal. It's also walking distance from Santa Fe station. I used to come hear after working in LA all day and taking the train home.
We just adore Lisa. She is so nice to see. We really enjoy the food.
It was so nice to be back at a restaurant! The wine & food was great!! The service was a little slow and there weren’t a lot of people there, but it was probably their 1st night open again so that could have been it.
Fun, relaxing, delicious. Kind waitstaff. Nice antipasto platter.
What a hidden gem! We brought some out of town guests and had a wonderful time! We had not been here before, so didn’t know what to expect, but we were so pleasantly surprised. That ambiance was wonderful, the food was amazing, service was great, and we were able to enjoy our conversation. Thank you for a terrific experience!
This was a very quaint place. It had mom and pop vibe but still very modern The food was outstanding and they had a great selection of gluten free options. I had the Italian wedding soup and the shrimp scampi which both tasted authentic. We had a party of 14 people and each person loved their meal. The price point was perfect for the quality of food. Our server was very charming as well. I would definitely come back to this place when I visit San Diego again.
We had a large group and they were very accommodating. The food was great and I'd recommend this restaurant for sure !
The food was wonderful, highly recommend the baked ziti! Lizzie our server was very sweet and attentive. Will make sure to come back next time we’re in Little Italy!
Went for an early dinner before our flight back to MD. They have a lot of gluten free options and the server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes. If we go back to CA in the future, I’d definitely visit them again!
Pro's : food was good( 1 dish 4 stars, 1 dish 3 stars, we had cannelloni & Tuscan shrimp. Cannelloni was really good, Tuscan shrimp needed a bit more seasoning and more sauce (which leads to cons)
Con's : service. 1) showed up for our res on time, was told to wait even though I could see the table was available, after waiting 15 minutes I found a server and asked we could sit down at the table and we did; 2) first waiter did not know that a dish I inquired about was sold out (had been out for a couple of hours), 3) 2nd waiter (very pleasant at first) took our order, my wife asked about subbing out the side salad for a Caesar salad, waitress said that it wasn't a 1-for-1 b/c Caesar was larger, I then asked if we could sub out both side salads for a single Caesar salad and the waitress said they could do that, only problem was when we received the bill, we were charged an add'l $10 for the Caesar salad. When we brought this to the waitress' attention, she agreed that she didn't tell us that there would be charge but then became agitated that I asked to have the charge removed as we would have just kept the side salads had she told us; 4) my wife entre (Tuscan shrimp) was a bit dry, so she asked for some extra sauce, waitress said "no problem", but then again we saw that they upcharged us $3 for the sauce (no mention), after the Caesar salad issue we simply paid for the upcharged sauce. Also, the waitstaff wasn't very attentive, which is odd for such a small place.
Bottom line, it seems like Petrini's philosophy is try to upcharge their guests as much as possible without any transparency. Too bad, it is a cute place with pretty good food. None-the-less, will not be returning and will be checking my credit card account to make sure I was credited back the $10.
I have celiac disease and they were very knowledgeable about it. Everything I ordered was delicious.
It was not what i expected it to be. It was family style which I do not like and the food was very average.
My friends and I enjoyed the best Italian dinner any of us could remember. Owner Veronica and server Alex epitomized the meaning of customer service. Don’t miss this place for a top top Italian restaurant near Little Italy.
Our server was lovely, and I'd recommend the place based on him alone! Wine and apps (burrata) were great and well priced. Main courses were fine--not amazing, but good for the price. Atmosphere was calm/quiet.
