They were actually not open. So basically we needed to find somewhere else to go last minute.
Restaurant is closed.
Why are they taking reservations?
Made a reservation. Then got a follow up text to “let them know I was cooking.” I confirmed. Got another reminder in email. Showed up - closed. Just standing on the street in front of the restaurant during winter trying to figure out a plan b with another couple. So... that sucked.
I’ve been here before and it was ok. The service was so so (they refused us a “taste” of a wine, brought out the wrong wine and seemed generally inexperienced. The ambiance was nice.
However my low rating was for this particular reservation. We made reservations on open table, but when we arrived at the restaurant it was closed. I made the reservation for a special event and it was confirmed via the app, but the restaurant wasn’t even open!
Food was outstanding. Love the location. Server was attentive and helpful.
The food was disappointing on this visit. The outdoor seating arrangement on a chilly night is not conducive to warm food arriving.
We visited wine country for the weekend. This was our first visit to Perch and Plow and it was an an awful experience. We ordered an appetizer, a salad and 2 entrees. We asked if he could bring the appetizer and salad separately, he said no problem. They came out together. The chickpea crisps were tasteless and forgettable. The roasted beet salad was basic and poorly put together. Our meals came out immediately after our appetizer plates were cleared which can mean only one thing- they were sitting under a heat lamp. I ordered the black garlic flat iron steak. It was over cooked and dry. The frisée was wilted, the sunchokes were bland and pointless. There was little trace of the cauliflower purée promised in the menu description. My friend order the burger(no onions)-how can a burger be messed up? I’ll tell you, they added the onions, the “heirloom tomato” was nothing more than the end of a tomato and it was mushy and unappealing. The burger was over cooked.
The only reason we ate what we did is because we were hungry, and there were not many other options available because it was Saturday night. I told our server about our entrees and his response was “thanks for understanding”. I’m not sure what I was understanding because he offered no explanation. $100 later- here’s your review.
Service wasn’t very good. Staff seemed confused and overwhelmed. We ordered a bottle of wine and it took so long to bring it to us. Our appetizer was brought to us and our wine had still not arrived. It was a cold evening and they did not heat the plates so our food got cold very quickly. Also, the manager brought our dinners to our table and our appetizer plates had not been cleared. We needed to move our plates out of the way so he could place our dinner plates down. The portion sizes are smaller than they were a year ago. I would expect a better meal and dining experience for what we paid. I’ve been to this restaurant several times and I really hope they make it. But the service needs to improve and the portion sizes need to be larger. Will try going back one more time.
Nice seating outside next to a fire pit. Friendly service but a bit slow. Mr. Wagner took us upstairs to show us what is in the works once things open up more. Appreciated that.
The sea bass and eggplant dish was tasty, the steak was not hot enough, the octopus and the hamburger were good. We will definitely return.
The menu was limited, but the food was very good. The wine list was pedestrian.
Excellent and well presented small plates - with favorites including the savory watermelon and tangy citrus marinated halibut. I did wish for a bit more sauce for the pulled pork mole tostadas but that’s really not a serious complaint - they were still delicious. All in all - delectable noshes and the cocktails were excellent. Dining still has the feel of being a bit impromptu and provisional but definitely headed in the right direction for these plagued times. Seating is directly on the square - a band was playing on the corner and helped contribute to a festive atmosphere.
Great Downtown Ambiance. Twinkle lights and music.
Our server was very busy. She took my order then ran off before she could take my guests order. We had to call a another server to place a complete order.
The food was not great. I ordered the chicken which was a single chicken breast, a chard strip of bacon on top, on a purée with onions and 2 dates. That’s it’s. Way over priced. Not enough to entertain the pallet. My guest had the burger, he said it was alright.
I wouldn’t order a meal again but I will return for a happy hour cocktails. My lemon drop was delicious and the atmosphere is worth a second visit.
I appreciate any business that is staying open during the pandemic. Trying to navigate staying safe and healthy for all is not easy. That being said I’ll try to keep it short and simple as possible. Food was great. I’d give everything we had 4.5 stars. Cocktails not so great, and would be 3 stars. Old fashions are not made with lemons. We sat down for dinner, then went across the street to the open space with fire pits and music. Nice little outing that was much needed.
Our server was AMAZING. First time here, a little pricier than I expected. Food was pretty good, and for being downtown on a Saturday night it was relatively quiet!
This is my second time dining here. First time was two years ago and the restaurant was much too loud and the service was not very attentive.
This time, I had a reservation and waited 40 minutes after arriving for said reservation. After being seated, the server took forever to bring water, the bus person brought the wine and no corkscrew and was quite surly when we asked her to open the bottle. The risotto was not hot when it arrived, food was of just adequate quality, the Zinfandel was subpar. And, after all that the manager did not even credit anything on our tab. Will not be coming back.
Absolutely loved everything about Perch & Plow! Great atmosphere on the beautiful patio, delicious food, and great cocktails. We have been there a couple times now, and have very much enjoyed it both times. This particular time, we brought my parents who were in town for the weekend, who also loved it. We will definitely be back soon!
They don’t got any sides with their entree
Had a 7:30 reservation. Didn't get a table until 8:50pm. No control over people just milling around the tables at all. Food was pretty good but overall they didn't seem to have any control over the new outdoor dining scenario they is how today unfortunately has to be. A table for 2 at 7:30 having to wait 70+ mins for a table while multiple tables just sat talking for an hour is a bit much.
The food and service were great. We are just not big fans of outdoor dining.
Good food but service took a long time (2 1/2 hours for a 2 course meal). The specialty drinks are good but very pricy and not much content. The outside area is very nice looking out on Court House Square.
Food was prepared very well and flavorful. A little disappointed in 4 diver scallops the size of a quarter for $33. It was a special occasion so I didn’t mind too much. Outside dining on the square can get a bit noisy with protests or cruising. Nice atmosphere and good service.
Tasty, attractively presented food & refined cocktails. A little slow & empty during lunch in the middle of the week, but it’s probably due to the pandemic.
What a fun place! I loved the cocktail flight and appreciate how tapped into current culture they are! The cocktails and kettle chips are phenomenal and paired with a great view of downtown.
Food is great but the experience was so-so. There was a customer talking non stop and he was so loud. It was awful listening to him all evening. We came to relax and have a lovely dinner but instead we got a man (another customer) talking non stop!! When he finally stopped for 2 min, the servers went to see him and they were all talking non stop again.
Everything was very nice. Clean, good ambiance, service, and great food.
We had a great server, but... turkey club - no bacon, dry bread (not toasted), very dry and mediocre sandwich. Curry chicken salad, great flavor, nice greens, but again, chicken was horribly dry.
The food was delicious. However, the service was slow and somewhat uninformed about the offerings, specifically relating to the bar selection. Additionally, one person in our group did not receive the two appetizers they ordered for their meal and by the time our server returned to check on our satisfaction, we were ready to move on. Felt like an off night for service so thankfully the food was well prepared.
Quiet yet lovely experience. The Paloma I had was wonderful and for my first poke bowl, it truly hit the spot. Wonderful view of the courthouse and square and they open the windows on a nice days, so ambiance is very relaxing yet updated.
We had a good experience and the donut dessert was fabulous. The only critique would be that the food should be warmer when served. The service was excellent!
The cauliflower and the broccolini were delicious and the brussel sprouts were AMAZING!! I loved the octopus salad as well. Highly recommend.
All was good, except a bit disappointed on the order for “smash burgers”. They were paper thin and over done. Won’t be ordering those again!
The food was amazing, and thanks to the hostess, Marissa, we were able to receive drinks, our meal, and leave for our event in a relatively timely manner. If it were not for the hostess, we would have had to leave before receiving anything. She sat us before the dinner rush on Sunday at 6:15. No one greeted us for at least 15-20 minutes before she greeted us and took our drink orders. We did not interact with any server besides asking for a random server to print out our check. Marissa and kitchen staff were the only employees we had any interaction with even though every single table around us were being served by servers. Even though the kitchen ran out of seafood, the other options we chose we great and delicious! The food was amazing, but unfortunately the lack of service from the servers outshined the overall experience.
Slow slow slow service
February 2020 experience: Happy hour on a Sunday—score! Very good food, decent drink specials. Service was a little slow/off. One of our food items was totally different than described. Staff was apologetic, and it was delicious anyway. We came by once before (in December 2019) when their website said they were open, but they weren’t. Anyway, today was very good overall, service just a little slow. We’ll probably come back again for another happy hour.
The service was fairly decent, but when you do interact with them they're an absolute pleasure to talk with and very knowledgable about their offerings. We had the cocktail flight and enjoyed 4 of the 5 (the carbonated paloma was not our favorite). We also enjoyed the baked brie, house fries, buttermilk fritto misto and the steak. The baked brie was a favorite followed closely by the buttermilk fritto misto. The house fries were nothing special in our opinion, but were by no means bad, simply standard. The steak was cooked to perfection, seasoned well and seared extremely well. For dessert we tried the old Gregg creme brulee, which exceeded expectations and was a perfect finish to our time at Perch + Plow. We would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking to enjoy quality food and cocktails in downtown Santa Rosa.
Service was poor, staff not very attentive.
It was our first date in a while. Upon seating a Male server black short hair and goatee welcomed and sat us. He proceeded to take our drink order and said the frost round was on him so we ordered another. We got charged twice. He did not comp our first round as he said he would. The food was really good. But sadly the coursing took forever and was all over the board. We orders some small plates and dinner and we got our chese board at the end of dinner after I had to ask twice for an iced tea with four empty glasses on the table plain sight on the end of the table. Our res was earlier and was not to busy. Hailey our sever had no knowledge of the specials and had to leave twice mid order to figure out the fish and pasta. Great and lovely location but was disappointed w our experience and services for the price will most likely not return
I ate a fabulous sandwich with perfectly crispy hot fries. My partner ate a savory salad with fresh greens and tasty chicken curry. The food is spot on. Service is exceptional. Ambiance is chic and inviting.
The team had a rough night servers were confused and walking with plates in hopes to find the right table. Kitchen seemed behind.
Special enough for a prix fixe menu, we wanted to start our meal with a sparkling cava listed at the head of the day's menu. It was sold out(?) on Valentine's Day. For our menu's red meat selection, we chose the only zinfandel listed. It was sold out(?), even as the producer was produced less than 20 miles away. The only fish on the menu was served with decoration on a festive platter, but it was overcooked and dry. We loved the oysters flown in from the cold waters of Maine, and the radicchio/citrus salad options, and our table service was top notch. Live music throughout was a nice touch in a local eatery we usually enjoy, making our celebration special enough.
