Perch and Plow
Love the food
Great cocktails which led to a delicious dinner! Very conveniently located in Downtown SR.
Love this place. Great food, great drinks, and a good view of the square.
Fun Environment with excellent food and service. Good selection of vegan and gluten free items
We had an excellent experience at Perch and Plow. Our server Taylor was very kind and patient with all our questions. Taylors recommendations were spot on.
Our food was excellent. We ordered the baked brie and split a hamburger.
I highly recommend this restaurant.
We enjoyed Perch and Plow. We used reservations through Open Table for 730 on a Wednesday night and walked in to a mostly empty restaurant. The waitress was very glad we were there. Her service was impeccable. The restaurant looks hip, with murals from our favorite local street artist, Bud Snow.
Drinks were very tasty and complex. As the DD, I had sage lemonade, and my companion had something purple from the bar that was worth going back for.
Offerings are mostly small plates, and a few entrees. We ordered small plates.
Portions were reasonably generous for the prices, and ingredient quality was very good, but some of the dishes we had were a little disconnected. We had a smoked beet salad that was pretty stellar, a caramelized onion dip that wasn't anything special, and a warmed brie with an apple compote that was so hot that the inside of the cheese drained out of the rind like popping a water balloon, and then no utensil for scooping it or the compote onto the bread. They were out of the beef cheek dish, so we ordered the pork belly. The actual slab or pork belly was of the best things I've ever eaten, but the accompanying ingredients on that plate weren't anything special and didn't add to or compliment the belly (some pickled items and turnips and turmeric spiced rice). The beet salad and the slab of pork belly hint at the greatness the kitchen is capable of, but it may take a few visits to separate the chaff from the wheat.
We'll absolutely try Perch and Plow again.
They went out of their way to make our birthday party special.
Everything we had was delicious. You can tell that everything is well thought out to give you the best flavors in the cocktails & food.
The portions were tiny, although the food was decent. The service was friendly, but not totally efficient. It just didn’t seem like it was worth the price. In particular, our salads were minuscule and the flavor is just so so.
The food was great and the vibe was perfect. Great place to have dinner parties.
Online lunch and dinner menu no longer served, just brunch and snacks. Mainly an after work or nighttime upscale bar.
The food was excellent. The set up was lovely. They have nice wool art piece on one wall. However, the noise level in the place was high and it was difficult to have a conversation.
I feel like the food used to be better here. The dishes were a little hit or miss & the menu is super short.
The place is uncomfortably loud. No idea why the acoustics are like this but I couldn’t hear half of what my husband was saying to me!
Overall, a fun dining experience, but the quality could be better.
Maybe they are busier than they can handle. We sat there for about 15 minutes before anyone came to get our order! A bit too long in my opinion.
My wife & I had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. Our server was Alex and she was terrific. Took our orders accurately and kept an eye on us as we dined to make sure everything was going well. She was superb. Food was terrific Danielle the manager even stopped by to wish us a happy anniversary.Such wonderful staff, great food and a great experience!! We will definitely be back soon.
Food for multiple people in The party was not cooked to order. Appetizer was small for the price. Cocktail was mediocre. Wine list was weak for be in wine country. Atmosphere was loud, not horrible but Probably not my thing.
It was a Tuesday night, so not very busy. It was extremely hot and I needed to use a menu to fan my face the entire time. Server would disappear for long periods of time. We first ordered drinks and an appetizer. It took 10 minutes just to get our cocktail, only to find out she'd forgotten to input our appetizer order. The food was pretty good. Nothing special IMO. We wanted dessert, but decided it was way too hot to eat it there, so ordered it to go. They were out of their specialty dessert so we ordered an alternative. After she put the order in I tried for 5 to 10 minutes to find her and ask for the check so that when the dessert came, we could leave immediately (it had gelato and we didn't want it to completely melt before we got home). I also asked both the hostess and the other server for our check, but no one brought it, and they didn't know where our server was. After the dessert arrived, we wanted to leave immediately but couldn't because we still didn't have the check. I got up again and asked again for the check. I don't know why someone other than our server couldn't bring it to us. It's all computerized. Finally, the other server brought us our check and had comp'd the dessert, which was nice, but it never should have been that bad in the first place. Probably won't go back.
The Good: drinks, most food and dessert. The bad: service, salad. The drinks were good and the entrees and dessert were really good. The food pacing is awkward at best with long waits in between courses with no particular reason or check in by waitstaff. And if the server said one more time "thank you for your patience" without any sense that he actually cared, I was about to scream.
An example of the problem: We split an appetizer between two of us and the menu has multiple small plates which usually means that they are set up and sized to share. So we asked if the caesar salad was sufficient for two or whether we should each order one. Possible appropriate responses might be: many customers share the caesar so that might work; our portions are designed for sharing; or, our salads are on the small side so I would recommend you each order one. The answer we got from our server: "I don't know you and I don't know how hungry you are so how would I know if one salad would be sufficient?" So we ordered two salads and these were the saddest salads we've had in a long time. The romaine bits were mostly turning brown, the whole salad was warm as if the lettuce had been left out for a few days and the dressing had no taste.
Disappointing. The food took a long time to come out, and it was not a very busy night, and when it arrived several dishes were no longer hot.
Let me start by saying that a great quality of an outstanding restaurant besides amazing food is consistency and great service This was my first time here. My friend had been the weekend before and was raving about the cocktails and food. Starting with the cocktail. Purple Rain. It was delicious but it was nothing like what my friend had. It came in a tiny glass, a joke really, and was missing the special ice cube (clever idea) made from violet elixir or syrup (not sure what they use). And it didn’t taste like any alcohol was in it. If I’m paying $14. I want a good drink! I opted for my stand by of Tito’s which after a lengthy wait they said they were out of! We ordered several appetizers, a strawberry salad and a burger that we were going to share. Asked the server to bring in all at once. Nope. Brought one app. then a pretty long wait and finally the rest of the food minus the salad. That came when we were almost finished. Then they never did bring a dessert menu. We went somewhere else for that! The burger was good, apps tasty but very tiny portions and salad really good. I always give a second chance if I have a bad experience...hopefully it’ll be better.
6 of us had small bites and appetizers. Excellent variety and everything was delicious.
Our waiter was up on the menu items and the wine by glass we wanted. The fries and king salmon were perfectly cooked for me. We should have asked that they hold the salt. Also ice in the water would have been nice. Did NOT like that the % tips suggested were calculated on the gross rather than the total menu/bev items.
Not a place I would frequent .
Good food. Very noisy
Very niceevening. Drinks fablous,foodgreat
wait staff very attentative.
The cocktail I had was amazing (drop it like it’s hot). However, the food was disappointing. The fries came out very dry. The salad was overdressed. The street corn was bland. The cauliflower in coconut curry sauce was decent but also liked some real flavor. Go for the drinks and eat elsewhere.
Great service and great food and drinks.
There on a business trip on Labor Day- restaurant was only 25-30% occupied. Server was polite and attentive but waited over 40min for first appetizers to arrive with no explanation from service staff. Food overall was pretty solid.
The small plates were wonderful. Our waitress wasn’t very attentive and didn’t know the wine list at all.
Delicious food and excellent service! Our server had spot on recommendations for appetizers and main course!
Energetic atmosphere is large but sectioned off light and airy space. Great bar scene for those wanting to stop by for a drink before a movie, or after. A varied selection of small and large plates that are creative and deliciously prepared. All food was fresh and served with a flair. The restaurant is noisy so if discussing business probably not the place to go. But very fun for friends get-together or a date night.
I took my sister out for a date night (lots to celebrate!) so I chose Perch & Plow for dinner and drinks. We had a terrific time! I've been here a few times, but each time, I try and order something new off the menu. The food never fails. We ordered 4 small plates (tombo tuna poke, farro salad, buttermilk fritto misto, crispy stone valley farm pork belly) to share and a couple of cocktails, which were as beautiful as they were delicious. Our server Scott was also super great and made sure we always had what we needed and were never rushed. My sister really loved it and is planning to bring her husband on a date night :) Thanks again!
The restaurant is on the 2nd floor so we were fortunate the day started to cool off by our reservation time at 7:15 pm. We were seated close to the hostess station and enjoyed a nice breeze from the opened windows in a beautiful summer evening. We enjoyed the beets salad but the presentation was lacking. The big miss was the tempura mushrooms. We were sorry we ordered it because it was a greasy and heavy soggy mess. Really a shame. The pork belly fried rice was spot on. Whoever grilled the octopus needs to no guest wants to eat charcoal. Parts of our octopus was overcooked on the grill. Just burnt.
Awful and what a waste. Thank goodness we had refreshing cocktails to wash down the mediocre food. We were fortunate to have a great waitress. She had too many tables, but she was pleasant and always gave us a big smile. Though the food was hit and miss, it was a nice enough dining experience to enjoy Santa Rosa downtown over labor day weekend.
Super great spot! Went here for my 21st birthday and was really happy with the food and drink options, the service, and how quick everything was. Super friendly staff, great open environment, and amazing food!
Food and service were great, BUT when it's 97 outside you want to enjoy a cool place to drink and dine, but it was just the opposite, hot and humid in the restaurant, we were told by some staff members that the owner likes it that way, with that being said we will be back just not on hot days.
Just go for the cocktails - but know it may take about 15 minutes to receive your glorious drink. Some cocktails are better than others and offer more than mostly ice. I have given Perch + Plow three chances with my girlfriends and a double date with my husband and another couple. Husbands were less than impressed and my girlfriends and I have given up. While I like the octopus, and the poke most everything else is either too greasy or over-sauced. There was a lovely strawberry salad but even that was over-dressed. Don't bother with the cheese plate - it's small and under-whelming. We asked the food runner who brought our plates out what the cheeses were and he told us, " I don't know- I just bring out the plates". We flagged down another server and she had to consult her book but at least she had notes. I have worked in the hospitality industry for over 15 years and cut slack when needed and also know when there are shortcuts taken, it feels there is more style and less substance - the dishes felt sloppy. At 9pm, they begin a happy hour, 'Recline" with a DJ in the dining area- not upfront or near the bar, but in the corner of the dining room! So odd!! Diners are still enjoying their meals and conversation and you have some patrons coming in to listen to a DJ, even they looked confused as to what was happening. If you just wanted to grab a cocktail, maybe... but for dinner and drinks, I'd probably go somewhere else.
Everything was good. I was just surprised at the few choices of large plates on the menu. It would have been great to have gluten free crackers available for the baked Brie.
First time there. We will definitely come back! Beautiful surroundings and very accommodating staff. Excellent food.
Need more food options during dinner. I felt like they have more options during happy hour.
Very poor service. We were there for almost 2 hours because service was so slow. It was not busy at all either.
We we there to celebrate our friend who had just finished iron man. Great small plates to share and excellent drinks. The scene was a cool vibe too.
