My daughters 25th birthday.
I liked this place a lot but the menu items were hit or miss.
Fritto Misto - Avg - Very few shrimp and mostly vegetables
Roasted Octopus - Outstanding
Pappardelle - Avg - Based on reviews we thought this was the most popular dish but was only so-so
Agnalotti - SUPERB - Folks if you go to Perbacco GET THIS
Duck - Bad - Chewy, hard, dry and tasteless
Exceptional service in a very noisy environment. Good food but not a place for conversation.
Great service, food and wine. Good value for the money
Fabulous service, great meal quality food. Really enjoyed our dinner. Prefer the bar seating.
Super food and excellent service. Highly recommend
Great food, wonderful service and fun vibe. Order the scallops! Will return.
Service was fantastic, only reason it wasn't a full five stars is because the way our table was positioned made me sit on the crease of their bench cushions, which was not comfortable and the dining room was unbelievably warm.
Delicious risotto. Noisy - is a challenge to have a conversation.
One of San Francisco's best Italian restaurants. Never a bad meal. Solid wine list. Wait staff helpful and professional. Easy BART access and convenient nearby parking.
Birthday was great there
There was a hair in the scallops. They took it off the bill and offered a free dessert. Expected better.
My daughter had been there twice before. She gave us GC for our anniversary, so the three of us celebrated together. All of the dishes were delicious!
I made an anniversary reservation for the wrong day. It happens. But, when we arrived at the restaurant, they took a couple of minutes and stated they would be willing to accommodate us -- and happy anniversary. Even though they were going to seat us promptly, we decided to sit at the bar, as we often enjoy the bustle and business that goes on there. We were allowed to taste a wine before buying a bottle, which was super. We were not rushed to make a dinner selection, instead allowing us to have a glass of wine before we were asked about the selections. I wanted to try there scarpinocc: these are "little shoes" filled with taleggio and toasted nuts covered in a chestnut butter and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds and shaved parmesan. What a treat for me. Slightly sour and spicy at the same time, it was a super dish. I actually added the brussels sprouts to the side, covered in browned butter, shallots, capers and parmigiano reggiano. Both dishes went superbly with the wine and the pacing. We were not rush at all and had a chance to chat with the bar tender. She even gave us a taste of a different wine she thought we might like based on the conversation. At the end, even though I was ordering a gelato, we were presented with an anniversary dessert: Brutti ma buoni: really "ugly but good" piemontese hazelnut cookies. And, a very lovely hand written note thanking us for choosing the restaurant for an anniversary. Very classy.
I enjoyed the meal on a special occasion. It was a reunion with two school friends whom I hadn't seen in 60+ years. The major difficulty was the noise level, which made conversation difficult our "older set". Coincidentally, the NY Times recently published an article on deliberate elevation of noise in restaurants that cause me to wonder about Perbacco.
On the plus side, we enjoyed the food and the wines immensely. The choices of Italian wines was amazing. Choice of other wines was good, too. Pork, prawn and duck entrees we selected were excellent. In season pears were luscious in several menu items we ate.
Server was not attentive. First time I’ve experienced this at Perbacco.
This is my neighbor to go place when company is in town. I am never disappointed
An outstanding evening with my leadership team. Perbacco has become our de-facto choice for a good time.
reservation made for my manager, and under her name(specifically noted and confirmed with host over phone after reservation made). However restaurant host informed no such reservation upon my manager's arrival. Not professional as it made I failed my manager's expectation due to restaurant's negligent.
Celebrated our 7th year anniversary
We had white truffles on Tajerin just ottimo
Food was excellent. Visiting family pronounced the squid ink pasta the best he’d ever had! Two of us had sea bass, and it was memorable! We had a great waiter, who also added to the overall success of the evening- recently arrived in SF from Iowa! A real pro and very helpful with choices throughout the evening! Perbacco is a special treat.
We enjoyed our dining experience and the service couldn’t have been better. We were celebrating a birthday and we appreciated the chef adding the words Happy Birthday to the dessert plate which was fabulous.
La Carne digna de la fama adquirida, detalles de gran restaurante y gran servicio.
Our favorite restaurant for celebrations!
Wonderful pasta and nice location in the Financial District of SF, especially on the weekend when other places are closed. The pork loin entree my husband had was very generous, but not particularly note worthy. Too much meat and kind of got lost in the sauce. My tagliatelle, however was outstanding and of course made with fresh pasta made in house. The wine selections are known to wait staff who are exceptionally knowledgeable and efficient.
It was lovely from the start, greetings at the front desk, the host and hostess, valet was perfect valet parking that is our waiter Jake up was lovely and the service was very nice we sat upstairs, it was quiet, food was delicious, we took our time. The only thing I might add is when you’re finishing a meal sometimes after dessert if you don’t have coffee it’s nice to have someone check back to see if you want more water that’s a tiny thing.
Loved it, definitely return and recommend. Alison Greenfield
PS. Please excuse any typos I am dictating.
Fantastic place, food was excellent. Menu varies quite frequently, perhaps would be good to have some fix items on a more permanent menu.
We went for the truffle season special that ended today. In short, not impressive and a total waste of a lot of money.
Could it be that this being the final day of the truffle season at Perbacco they held back the most mediocre truffles until the end? Quite possible because they didn't taste (or smell) like anything - shaved cardboard. Very expensive shaved cardboard. My risotto may have been tarted up with truffle oil because I couldn't tell any difference between a bite of it with a full truffle shaving on top and an equally sized bite of just the risotto.
The service was very good and the base food was good but the shaved dish sponge ...uh "truffles", sunk the night
Food was very good. Noise level was extremely loud - difficult to hear conversation at the table.
Never a disappointment. Delicious pasta dishes. All time favorite!
For our appetizer, my wife had the Minestrone, and I had the Little Gem salad. Both delicious, although the soup was the winner. For our dinner, my wife had the papperdelle, delicious, and I, the Tajerin (sp). Both delicious! We would happily return.
Excelleg good and service. Fabulous wine list (with low mark-up). Lively atmosphere. Highly recommended.
After years of occasional very good dinners, our recent visit turned our opinion of Perbacco from a very good restaurant to a great restaurant. Potato gnocchi with a simple tomato sauce - these ethereal clouds are what gnocchi should be and so rarely are and the tomato sauce provided just the right, gentle counterpoint. The duck was amazing - a rare slice of perfect tender breast and a juicy outrageously tasty crisp cake of shredded duck leg. My husband generously shared his wonderfully aromatic plate of small stuffed pasta with a light sauce and a generous covering of fresh white truffles sliced tableside. Service was faultless. After a fun discussion about wine and our coming meal with Iris, the director of their wine program, she presented us with an exquisite bottle of Rosso Montalcino that was even a bit less money than the price point we had indicated. Perbacco is now my favorite restaurant in San Francisco.
I have been to Perbacco many times and it's always very good food and service. This time, however, our waitress couldn't have been colder. Regrettably, two people in our party were late due to traffic; however, there were many tables available so we weren't slowing things down. But she had very little sense of humor and gave us the feeling that my party was not wanted there. We were there for lunch, surrounded by business people - which my friends were not, so no suits and ties and high heels.
The scallops were the best I have ever tasted and the artichokes that went with them were amazing. The artichokes had a wonderful flavor and were not at all woody or tough in the stems or leaves. The fennel was a great combination. It was a really good meal that was healthy and filling.
Sorry but I couldn't hear the person across the table from me at a duce.
Perbacco is conistent. The food is always served piping hot (exactly how I like it)
Nice birthday touch with the card. Enjoyed the service.
Not our type of place. Over priced. Food was so so
Went there for a business lunch. Delicious food, especially the pasta. At its price range, good value given the price, quality, portions, service, and ambiance.
