Sleek and modern with one foot firmly in the Old World is the feeling at Perbacco. The restaurant boasts a brick wall original to the historic 1913 Hind building, with other touches such as a bar top and floor tiles made from white Carrara marble. With 16 seats at the bar and 7 more intimate tables, Perbacco creates an atmosphere for a glass of wine or a light bite. Perbacco also features 2 dining rooms, one on the main floor and a smaller one on the Mezzanine, which has the added allure of serving as "theater", with windows to watch all the action in the kitchen below.
Chef Staffan Terje strives to cook the finest food reflecting the Italian regions of Piemonte and Liguria. Handcrafted, house-made salumi, prosciutto and other charcuterie are not to be missed. Seasonal pastas, a tradition in Piemonte, range from the traditional ravioli to the more exotic agnolotti. Main courses feature dishes such as stuffed quail breast, a selection of seafood dishes, and vegetarian options.

Perbacco accommodates groups of all sizes. A 18 seat "wine and dine" room features a temperature controlled wine cellar and a private atmosphere, without being too secluded. A 40-seat private room is also available for meetings, birthdays, and other occasions.

Absolutely delicious! We started with the veal and it was so tender. Also got the browned butter carrots which was a side as a starter. They had a little sweet taste to them I think from the browned, but still tasty.

For the mains the pappedelle pasta with short rib ragu was amazing. It was a close second to my all time favorite wild boar ragu with pappedelle pasta I had in Tusacany, Italy. Pasta was perfect al dente.

My husband got the green garlic ricotta gnocchi. I’m usually not a gnocchi fan and find them too heavy, but these were light and heavenly! I actually think this may have been the better pasta of the two which I can’t beleive I’m saying.

My husband had a couple cocktails and enjoyed them too (unfortunately I couldn’t indulge in any bc I’m pregnant).

Lastly, we never get dessert at restaurants because they are usually an after thought and there are so many good local places instead. We decided to try the dark chocolate bonet suggested by our server. SOO glad we didn’t skip this dessert!! It was phenomenal.

Service was spot on and this placed delivered on all ends more than I expected. It was lively even early starting at 5:45pm and clearly had a good following of people. Highly recommend!

Came here for our anniversary and they made us feel special. When we arrived the hostess wished us a happy anniversary and gave us a card. The waiter greeted us with happy anniversary. The cocktails were interesting and good. The food was very good. We started with the summer peppers and marinated strawberries, both were very good. We then shared the Raviora - pasta filled with truffle ricotta. Then we shared the beef cheek, this was also good. Service very friendly and attentive. Nice surroundings. When we left the hostess again wished us a happy anniversary.

Service was great. Only downside was the initial seating upstairs by a loud party with curtains blowing into us. They graciously moved us downstairs and were very attentive and gave us a nice complimentary anniversary dessert. Overall great dinner due to attentive staff.

Total experience was wonderful!! Staff were very friendly, accommodating, service was flawless, food - nothing was left on any of our plates (appetizers, dinner, accompaniment, desserts)!!
You will be completely satisfied with your meal!

We are just back from a trip to Rome, Italy and Perbacco has better food than 70% of the restaurants we tried. Even people we met in Italy that have been to SF and tried Perbacco agreed.

Had an amazing three course lunch with an old friend and colleague. Everything is seasonal, fresh. C1: Burrata and Salmon crudo. Both are excellent and the sets for both were delicious. C2: sharing of the parpadelle with pork sugo. C3: fresh John Dory

We did not think it was possible , but our dinner was better than last time! The portions were even bigger. The only negative was they no longer offer charcuterie as an appetizer. But lucky for us that allowed us to try the prosciutto and melons. Simply amazing!! And the service was outstanding. Thanks Perbacco for making our anniversary dinner even more special.

Always consistent, excellent service. Really enjoy the petrale sole main course, although they have modified the recipe now to make it more Mediterranean. The burrata appetizer is terrific!

Fantastic quality and authentic Italian food. A little noisy for a romantic dinner for two, and packed with business types (perhaps a result of the downtown location), but definitely worth the trip. Highly recommended.
