Grreat Italian pastas and wines
Average food. Our table felt nothing was wow or great in flavor. Everything seemed ok but not worth coming back for. Italian food’s simplicity is what makes it amazing and I prefer Central Kitchen, Flour & Water, Cotogna and Che Fico to this. Just a lot more flavor.
Delightful, excellent service and wonderful guidance through the Italian menu.
Our dishes were good to very good. The octopus appetizer was very good, and I would go there for that. The duck pasta was good, as was the halibut. I wasn't crazy about the vibe in the back. There was florescent lighting that felt cafeteria-ish. So try to get a seat in front or at the bar which looked much nicer. I also thought $12.50 for an affogado was a bit much. Our server was great.
Great food and great place!
The food was delicious, the service was attentive and warm. The different sizes of pasta dishes allowed for sampling and sharing.
Everything we had was excellent— the pasta tasted very fresh, the halibut was seasoned and seared to perfection, the crudo was delicately flavorful, and the cocktails were great. The dessert was the only somewhat underwhelming aspect. Service was good. Will be back for sure.
Great Service, very good food!!
We were very impressed with our overall dining experience. The service stood out as their best attribute. They worked well as a team providing excellent attention to detail. The smoky hazelnut chocolate tart for desert was also remarkable in its unique flavor and high quality.
The food was excellent and the wait staff attended to every detail. This is the first time that I have been seated upstairs - it is quieter than the downstairs tables. The Fritto Misto was light and crunchy. The mushroom soup was very flavorful and not too heavy. All of the pasta dishes were excellently prepared.
Excellent risotto. Very good service. Noise level is bit high.
Being greeted by the cold, snobby, uncaring hostess set the direction of the experience; the not really special food became the rest of the “Emperor’s new clothes”...
Spend your money at another Italian place in town (there are a number of actual great ones) and have a much better time...
Do you always have to put mushrooms in the vegetarian dishes? Not all vegetarians like mushrooms.
Wonderful all around!
We had an amazing lunch for a coworkers birthday. The service is perfection. Good food. Ask for a booth. I did not and wished I had.
Always a wonderful meal.
I go there quite often and food and wait staff are always great
It was awesome! Food, wine and service all exactly what we were looking for. What a wonderful experience.
The service was excellent!
Wonderful staff. Great food.
One of the best halibut dishes in SF. My "go-to" lunch restaurant. And the staff is always friendly and efficient.
We have been going to Perbacco for years; it is one of our favorite restaurants. But this visit disappointed. The appetizers and dessert were excellent, as usual and as expected. But the entrees were poor. The kitchen knew the pork loin was not up to par and our service was delayed, according to our waiter, while this dish was re-made. But what came out was still, frankly, bad. The waiter knew and offered to replace it but the replacement --a risotto too salty to eat--wasn't good, either! Meanwhile, my halibut, which had the same mushroom accompaniment, got overdone and was too salty, but I refrained from complaining, since the restaurant was trying to make up for the pork. We will certainly be back, but were unpleasantly surprised this visit. Three out of five is still batting 600, but we have come to expect a perfect meal at Perbacco.
Incredible service. Food is amazing. Staff went above z d behind for my group. Thank you! Karen Millard, Insperity Inc
Have to be honest, but I really wasn't that impressed - decor, ambiance, and the overall look and feel was inviting enough - little hectic and seemingly slow at front desk - very helpful and very nice welcome, just seemed a bit complicated to seat a reservation - and jumping in, the first thing we got were brussel sprouts along with grilled octopus and a Hamachi app - the sprouts were beyond over cooked and mushy and soggy...right off the gun, I was scared...octopus was ok, nice prep, but really lacked any flavor in the accourements on the plate - colleagues had rissotto and sea bass while I had brown butter soaked pork loin - the rissottoo to be really honest looked awful and colleague only ate 1/5 of it - sea bass seemed ok and my pork loin was actually well cooked and prob best part of food experience - the wait staff was great and attentive...this just feels like one of those Icarayus like Restuarants who flew high for some time, got too close to the sun, and flamed out...
Our first time trying this restaurant and we were very disappointed. The food was not worth the price.
We asked for a tasting menu, and were disappointed that it wasn't creative and diverse than what they already had on the menu; this was our bust. We were served halibut, it looked amazing, but then we tasted it... it tasted as if it was boiled, no seasoning and was extremely bland. Another dish we were served was their "famous" shortribs. It was dry and lacked the depth of what could have been a great dish - they missed the mark and ruined it altogether. I'm not quite sure why they list themselves as an Italian Resturant, this is false advertising. All-in-all, this was not a memorable dinner nor will we ever be going back.
My friend and I ate here for a girls night before heading to see the symphony. It was hard to find when we were walking, but once we called, they were understanding that we were running a few minutes behind. Upon arrival, there was a bit of a wait, but we were seated within 15 minutes. A few tables were turning over. The hostess knew we were going to the show and had us in and out within 40 minutes. The food was remarkable, and the wine was delectable. We both had ravioli dishes that were perfection. Everything was definitely made in house (my husband and I make ravioli from scratch, so we can tell store bought vs homemade).
I will absolutely be back.
what a great experience! headed to a show and waylaid by traffic, we were late and pressed for time. the staff not only responded with understanding, they treated us like we were a top priority. the food, wine suggestion, and service were impeccable.
i can’t wait to go back.
Outstanding service and food
Went for New Year’s Eve dinner, food was excellent and the service was fantastic. Highly recommended.
Excellent food, friendly and professional personal
WE Always save one night in the City to have Dinner at Perbacco. Nice menu , we split may items . The Bar is nice if you have to wait a bit for the Table. Their Wine List is over the top.
We have been to this restaurant before but this time my meal selection didn’t hit the spot. They had a fixed price lunch option and so we went for that and I regretted doing that. The butternut squash ravioli was too sweet so after a few pieces, I wanted something else. The two other dishes picked by my lunch buddies were great. So bottom line is I would go back .
Celebrating family and friends over the holidays
We enjoyed sitting upstairs -- seemed quieter and easier for conversation. Thank you.
After having read about Perbaco, I expected a bit more from the service and the food. The service was slow and the food just good. We had a peach salad, hamachi appetizer and two pasta dishes.
Excelente atención y calidad de los platillos. Muy recomendable!
Food was of very good quality and enjoyable. Wine list was wonderful. The setting was very comfortable. Host was very nice. Our waiter was pretty void of any personality, "how is everything" x 10=you don't care.. Have something to say, ask a probing question, just don't bore me with the same question!
Everything was great until we were served the Osso Buco. It was humongous and not sure if that was veal. It did not have the traditional gremalata associated with Osso Buco. The meat was dry. Definitely not worth the $66.00. My son-in-law and grandson did not enjoy it.
We’ve dined at Perbacco 5-6 times in the last several years—I’ve always thought of it as one of my favorite Northern Italian restaurants in the Bay Area. On Christmas Eve we celebrated by taking extended family there for dinner—made a reservation about 3-4 weeks in advance and asked for one of the booths in the bar area. We were so disappointed. The service was incompetent. We waited almost 15 minutes to order drinks. We waited almost 15 minutes to get the drinks, and then waited again to order our food. The support staff seemed more together than the waitress. When our bill came, we couldn’t read the total—it had been torn off above the total amount and we had to wait for that, again, too. I likely won’t return. Service MATTERS.
Risotto was undercooked. The shank was overcooked. Service was slow.
