Food was good but nothing exceptional
Great service, food, and interior decor.
Will definitely be back again.
We went to Perbacco to celebrate my Father's 70th Birthday. They gave him a very sweet hand written card and multiple staff members wished him a happy birthday. Top notch experience form the crumb cleaning of the table to the expert server. Unfortunately the busboy needed a little polish as he kept taking our plates before we were finished but it actually became quite funny. There was unfortunately one woman that was so loud I wanted to throw a dinner roll at her but the rest of the room was lovely. The food was perfection! I would go back anytime!!
Food was excellent, waiter was helpful and engaging and always there when we needed.
Lively place. They got me the perfect table for side-by-side seating. Food is excellent. Service is great. Prices are OK. Highly recommended. I'll go there again next time I am in San Francisco.
Annalise our server was Siberia. Her service was off the charts and made the evening. Great wine recommendations! Food is always great.
Food and service are fantastic. Noise level is high, specially in the back seating area, so probably not a good intimate date setting.
Very expensive for what you get. Splin were not very good. Disappointed. I prefer Barbacco.
Food was absolutely terrible. Ravioli was al dente, which is apparently not cooked at all. I've never had pasta taste like raw dough! When we sent it back, it was returned with the same portion and we were told it was al dente. Never had worse halibut: tough, fishy, and tasteless. The tomato paste on top did nothing to mask its lack of flavor. My partner had duck which for a tiny portion of breast was so tough, the knife struggled to cut through. Cauliflower taste was bad. It's the first time that food was so bad that I couldn't even finish it -- it's also the first time that I've reviewed on OpenTable. That's how bad it was.
Went recently for lunch and was very disappointed in the saltiness of the Tuna in the Tuna Salad entrée, and the over-sauced Roasted Cauliflower,... this from someone who likes salty foods. In addition the deviled eggs in the Tuna salad tasted "off" to both myself and my friend. Not rushing to come back here.....
I was really disappointed in the food. The restaurant was recommended by friends so I had high expectations. Pasta was dry, brussel sprouts were very average, octopus was tough, even the bread was mediocre. The wine was good. The service really good however, I will not go back I am sorry to say.
The food is always outstanding , the service excellent, and the sommelier, Iris, is extremely knowledgeable about wines, particularly Italian wines. Her pairings perfectly complement each dish and she spends time discussing which wines would be best for your specific taste and the meal itself.
This is a restaurant that I return to often, and always with great satisfaction.
Food is good but service was horrible. Took us an hour and a half to get our food, and the whole dinner took two and a half hours. I called ahead and asked them to seat us somewhere more quiet because my grandfather is hard of hearing and they put us right above the kitchen.
I love this restaurant. The food is excellent, the service impeccable. Umberto is the most gracious of hosts. Lisa, is a master of the cocktail extraordinaire. Good people, great joint. Manga!!!
Seated in the upstairs, which is not as nice as the downstairs. The food was great but the service was really not up to par.
Terrific service and amazing food.
Perbacco is my “go to” restaurant for business meetings, birthdays and special occasions as they can handle it all. Their attention to detail is among the best in the Bay Area. They overheard me mention my friend’s birthday, brought her a card and a surprise treat at the end of the meal. I dine here at least twice a month and I am never bored.
NOISY. NOISY. NOISY. Couldn't hear myself think let alone speak to the person I was dining with as the "neighboring" diners (next to us, couple tables down in a corner, big table behind us) were at varying stages of yelling to be heard over each other. Horrible experience - never going back.
Fantastic drinks, wine and food. Service was excellent.
The pasta was great. The sauces were good. Dessert was mediocre and expensive. Overall, it feels like a tourist trap. If it were cheaper, I would give it a better rating than a 3.
It’s been on my list for awhile after hearing about it thru the Check Please Bay Area show. We made reservations for dinner after seeing a show at the Golden Gate Theater and it lived up to our expectations. Wonderful food - they even make their own gluten free rolls that were fabulous! - and the service was great. Perfect recommendations from our waiter for wines to pair with our entrees. We sat in the area with the lowered ceiling so it felt cozy and it wasn’t noisy. We’ll definitely go back.
Great food great scene really enjoyed it
Salty ravioli. Dry mahi-mahi. Mushy Brussels sprouts. Incompatible dishes. The best thing was the complimentary hazelnut meringue.
Delightful...great food and service, outstanding wine list. Our only complaint was the noise level which made it hard to have a conversation. We would ask for more secluded seating next time...in a corner. But the food is excellent and the pacing just right. One of the best duck dishes I have ever had!!
We were a table of three ordering had four regional pasta dishes, served family. Our server (Annalisa?) sequenced them slowly so we had plenty of time to enjoy each one. We were not rushed. It is not clear if the other people knew that they could order authentic Piedmontese pasta dishes made in the basement pasta factory. The tajarin and the agnolotti al plin were the stars of the four pasta show, followed by the pappardelle with the 5-hour braised short rib ragu. -- Grazie to Umberto and the Perbacco staff and crew.
We loved it.
Lots of good choices. We will be back.
We celebrated our anniversary at Perbacco. My partner has a variety of dietary limitations. The staff were very accommodating and even replaced a side order of vegetables to make it more flavorful. Everyone treated us well and we were made to feel that we were regular customers even though this was the first time at the restaurant. We had an early reservation and we never felt any pressure to give up the table, so we could enjoy our celebratory meal. The sommelier was very helpful in finding an older wine that could pair with our meals and was within our budget. Dishes were well presented and flavorful without being heavy. I especially enjoyed the triangoli (triangle) pasta with a generous portion of truffle shavings. Even when the restaurant was full, the noise level was reasonable and we could carry on a normal conversation. We will be returning.
The food varied a bit in quality. The pastas were truly excellent, meanwhile my soup was insanely under salted. I question whether they put any salt in the soup. The beef cheek was just ok, and the accompaniments were a little bare bones. The wines were fantastic and reasonably priced. Overall, not a meal that felt worth the money to me, but there were some standouts.
Also a fabulous evening with exceptional food and wine. Our favorite Italian in San Francisco.
We go to Perbacco with some frequncy and always enjoy it. On this trip the restaurant went out of its way to take care of several requests we made about seating, food, and a special occasion. All as done with grace and the food was up to standard as always.
A great restaurant over years. Always on my list of places to go if you are visiting San Francisco.
Good atmosphere, service and food!
The first time in ages that I’ve gone to a popular “in” restaurant, expected it to live up to its reputation and not been disappointed! Very elegant place, great service and wonderful food. (One of our party got up to use the facilities and left his napkin on his chair. He hadn’t been gone a minute before a wait person appeared out of nowhere, picked up the napkin, folded it and placed it on the table it in front of his seat.). A word to the wise: like most contemporary restaurants, the noise level in the main dining room is quite high, so if like me you’re hard of hearing, ask to be seated upstairs.
Thank you for seating us at a relatively quiet table! Our server was excellent and everything was tastefully presented.
We always enjoy Perbacco and make it a point to have dinner whenever we visit San Francisco. The wine selection is excellent, the food is top quality and well presented, and the service is friendly and efficient. One feels the price was just right for the excellent meal.
Always consistent, great wine list, creative southern Italian cuisine
Over priced restaurant with mediocre food.
Perbacco has great pasta and the food is great. My issue is more service related, I came with my wife and 2 young well behaved kids for a 5:30 early dinner. The waitress seemed annoyed that we weren’t a business meal ordering 3 bottles of wine. We still ordered 2 apps and 4 mains with a couple drink but the waitress seemed inattentive and “over it” from the second we sat down.
I loved my Octopus dish. The Octopus was very tender and it was served over just the right amount of mashed potato. The accompanying arugula with balsamic dressing was perfect. I was happy that there was no parmesan on that dish. Almost every item on the menu has parmesan in or on it. I like that cheese on some dishes, but not on the Carne Crudo I had.
Great for an upscale yet reasonably priced night out! Pasta dishes were delicious but we did find quite a bit of oil at the bottom of the plate once finished. The appetizers were great as well, and service was excellent! They also had an extensive wine menu.
