When the pandemic hit and we had to close and re-think our business, we decided to convert its large dining room into a food market to meet the needs of the community’s new dining habits. While the restaurant will continue to have a dining area with prepared food, the food market will be an extension of the kitchen which is the hub of the restaurant. The market is now open, and its shelves and bins, refrigerators and freezer are well-stocked with prepared Italian specialty dishes as well as fine imported ingredients that customers can take home to prepare food themselves...these are the same ingredients used by Chef Dennis in the kitchen to prepare the restaurant’s meals and include everything from antipasti to desserts as well as sauces, salads and soups, pasta, beans and rice, cheeses and meats, wines and sodas and a whole lot more. All this so that members of our community and beyond can prepare and enjoy Pentimento’s meals exactly as they are served in the restaurant.

Pentimento is a great restaurant- the staff is knowledgeable and attentive, the food is delicious and unique, and the vibe of the place is warm, modern and comfortable. For those concerned about CoVID, they take care to make sure everyone is socially distant, wearing masks around the restaurant and have hand sanitizer available. Love coming to this restaurant, it’s such a great spot in Stony Brook Village!

Brussels sprouts are delicious as is the lebneh. Lentil salad was tasty but not as good as the apps. Portions are generous. I think next time a table of apps will be the choice. Need more heaters for outside, they only 2 had but have about 6-7 tables out there. We were promised one but it went to a reservation ( which we had) that requested a heater. Who would think to 'pre-order' a heater? I will say though, table are very nicely placed and never felt unsafe eating outside. Bought some treats at the market to take home too. Will def be back!

We went to Pentimento for Easter. This was our first time back since the pandemic. It seemed like the menus got smaller. I was expecting more unique type of items. I will have to go back on a non-holiday.

Once again an incredible meal. We both ordered the special. The grass fed rib eye & the seared yellowfin tuna with a lemon couscous & spinach. Absolutely perfect!!! The lemon couscous was light and almost refreshing. And the apricot margarita is a MUST !!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
